  1. Do you seriously need to set your suspension to stiff to be able to drive it? It just seems like you are right on borderline there and don't have much clearance for suspension travel. As well, do you find your speedo is out by quite a bit now? Do you get any scrubbing when turning under full lock? And do those tires cost a lot? Sorry for the questions, but I know others here have considered it, so the extra assistance for them would be good. Props to giving it a go though.
  2. What would be even more cool is cracking open your headlights and putting in a custom LED strip like the Audi's. I would do it by drilling 5mm holes in the silver relector and mounting individual LED's one by one. Of course this requires patience that I don't have.   4. Ingres: I will have to give you a raincheck for the Nebo run. Will be in Hervey Bay this week followed by Canberra. If all goes to plan though, I can take you for a Nebo run once I get back and have my new suspension fitted.

  7. Each to their own about what they want. Here the OP is looking at it as an optional feature. He also mentioned for looks, not safety. If you want to really want to question the need for DRL, maybe bring it up on an American forum. This seems to be one feature they get as standard.
  8. Sure didn't. Should have come a bit more prepared. I did have a good hard look at it however. It nearly seems like the body around the light fixture is a slightly different shape, but it may have been an illusion given the tail lights stick out a bit. In my opinion, it looked pretty much identical, even the part inside when you open the boot lid.
  9. Talk about epic disappointment. Today I am stuck working and won't make it home till late. Then tomorrow morning at 7am I will be heading up to Hervey Bay for work. This is expected to go until Sunday. Then immediately afterwards, I will be heading to Canberra for at least one week (but up to 2 weeks have been pencilled in). Now why is this disappointing? ... Toyota gave me a call today to tell me that all my suspension components have now arrived.
  10. After seeing one in the flesh, I think I am more swayed towards the pre-facelift (LOL, this is starting to sound like ZZE talk). The only reason for this though is that the revised model just looks more like other cars out there right now plus there are just certain parts of it that seem to be have more of a plastic look to it. That said, I still want the headlights. Not 100% sure about wanting the tail lights though. I really do want them, but they would only work on certain colours in my opinion, and red does feel like one of them.
  11. I can't say whether or not they would have reset your ECU, but I am pretty sure that they don't apply any updates like they do over in the States. When I got my car back from it's 60,000km service, I could swear that my traction control was less intrusive and responded much better than it did in the past. A few thousand kilometres later though and it was back to it's usual habits. Maybe when they connect their Intelligent Tester up to scan for codes, it might reset something in the ECU.
  12. Still using the traditional hair dryer and fishing line method. Just make sure you pull tension on the fishing wire towards you (and the rear surface of the badge) so it effectively does not touch the body of the car. This would probably end up leaving more adhesive on the body, but that's nothing Goo Remover/Eucalyptus Oil and a soft cloth can't remove. You will probably need to use a swirl remover/cut and polish afterwards anyways.

I can't really make a direct comment as I haven't experience this before on a relatively newer engine, but personally I find any noticeable oil consumption to be cause for me to have it looked at. I have heard cases of people with the 4-cylinder Camry in the States having abnormal oil usage when others have none. Toyota thought ahead of this though and if you look into your manual, you will find what they pass off as 'acceptable' oil consumption. I'm not sure about yours, but for my engine they state a maximum of 1.0 L per 1000 km. Have a look at whatever yours is as stated in your manual, and this will give you indication of what Toyota are going to do about it. I keep hearing about those that have theirs consuming close to the 1.0 L per 1000 km and all that Toyota have said is that it is completely acceptable and would not do anything about it. In that case, it would be better to have it looked at independently.

  19. Welcome mate. When it comes to running in a new engine, there is quite a bit of advice out there, but usually conflicting. For your new Toyota, they state that there is no running in process required. Most people just recommend to drive it gently (avoiding redline primarily) for the first few thousand kilometres or so. It all comes down to how you feel about your car. If you want to look at it from a different perspective, take a look here: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm But as Hiro Protagonist best said: Give it some time to learn on your driving. Because it is new, it may be sitting fairly high (as well, short trips can make it take longer to average out) but the more you drive it, the more accurate it should become. Once it has settled in, you will find that after a fill, it will read high like that but then drop down over as little as a few kilometres.
  20. That is true, but depending on how the cops are from where the OP is from, having his fog lights on will not be a problem. We have discussed before about the legality of fog lights and it basically comes down to the fact that yes they are illegal, but not always enforced.

  23. Excuse my really crappy diagram. I have attempted to draw it in a way that is simple to understand. It's about the best I can do in the meantime. I nearly forgot the diode hence why I've had to put an asterisk next to it: Essentially this is as I mentioned above. When the ignition is switched on, both fog lights will come on, but at half power. When you then turn your fog lights on, they will both come on at full power. Should cost no more than $10 to perform this modification, depending on how cheap you can pick up a relay for. Making a +12v ignition switched source would require another relay however.
  24. Well it means you don't need to buy the fascia kit. In my opinion, not having to get something like that makes the process that little bit easier.
