  1. Your VVT-i will adjust itself around any minor changes. It is continuously variable. It never has a point where it 'kicks' in. When changing your exhaust, there's no real need to factor in the effects of the VVT-i since the changes it makes aren't quite as dramatic. From the service manual, this explains what the VVT-i control is dependent on: And that is the exact same variables that the dual VVT-i (intake and exhaust) relies on as well.
  2. I don't imagine any issues as both systems are independent of each other. Only issues you would get is if you somehow connected them together incorrectly, but that would have to be a pretty bad fault. We meet up every Thursday night according to the thread: Brisbane Meetup (Every Thursday 9pm) Our meets start at 8pm not though. Also, we are trying out a monthly dinner. So far the first one worked out well, so the next one is happening next Thursday. I'm pretty sure that monthly after that we will still continue: QLD - Thursday Night dinner for July It's not really a formally organised thing. Usually it's just a random occurrence. If it feels like that time of the month/year, we will just get an expression of interest. Because Nebo is so close, people can head down there whenever they feel. I was going there once a week when I had my old Michelins.
  3. Cool. Keep us updated. BTW, I just realised you are a Brisbane member. You should come over for one of our weekly meets (now starting from 8pm): Brisbane Meetup (Every Thursday 9pm) And our monthly dinner: QLD - Thursday Night dinner for July
  4. Very true. I'm also used to reverse parking everywhere so it makes things a little easier for me. As a mater of fact, I can not park nose in when I'm in a car park and have to park between two cars. I just can not do it. Unless of course it is directly in front of me. Even still, I reverse into those. Up until the day I got the reverse camera, I actually had to open my door a little and stick my head out to gauge if I was too far back or not. On my old Camry I had no distance issues, but the size of the Aurion made it a little more difficult.
  5. No worries. I have a feeling that the Aurion at Fowles may actually be in a fairly decent condition. Only drawback of that though is a lot of the other cars there were badly affected by the storms. People bid pretty crazy when it comes to things like this. That white SX6 doesn't look too bad either. The tires seem to be in fairly good shape as well since they would have been changed like 15,000km ago.
  6. x2 I can then imagine them giving you a big F*** you too with a speeding ticket.
  7. It is an eBay Classified Ad which means that all negotiations and sales are completed outside of eBay. As I said above, he's probably approached it in the wrong way to get attention to his ad. Chances are, if you show interest in it, he is going to tell you some story to bring to price up to what he wants to charge. I'd just keep an eye out for other Aurion's out there. There are always some good deals going around. If anyone in the Brisbane area is interested, there is a 2008 Aurion Sportivo SX6 going under the hammer at Fowles on Tuesday the 28th. It's in the repairable write-off storm damaged group and from the pictures it looks alright. I'm gonna check it out when they have it open for viewing to see what condition it really is in. It only has 7697km on the clock so depending on what level of storm damage received, it may turn out to be a good buy. Not all storm damaged cars are bad.
  8. Not saying anything bad about the reverse sensors, but it would be interesting to see what your opinions would be of using both together. After using the reverse camera, I have found reverse sensors to be absolutely no match. The camera is also useful when reversing into a spot when there is no car or wall behind you. But each to their own though. I love parallel parking and getting extremely close to the car behind and watching people nearby look at me thinking I'm going to hit the car. Even funnier cause I always look forward when reverse parking now.
  9. That's definitely a good way to save money. You just can't guarantee that the key will have the right chip for the car though. The only way to find out really is to try it.
  10. Spotted at about 12:45ish today on the Centenary Highway: A Caribbean Blue Gen 6 Camry Sportivo. Was lowered very evenly (would say Kings) and was debadged. Couldn't tell what the wheels were because it was rolling at 90km/h, but they appeared to be 18 inch and looked nice on the move. Very similar to the Kappa wheels.
  11. If that were the case though, would his dash still light up?
  12. They charge around $35-$50 depending on the dealer. It should only take under 30 minutes, but if they are fairly incompetent like the last time I got it done, they took like 45-60 minutes. You need to make sure you bring all your keys and remotes with you.
  13. I think your best option would be to keep speaking to Toyota. It could possibly have something to do with the Smart Entry ECU and it's not really something you'll want to try and fix yourself given that you are under warranty. Last thing you want is for it to break down in the worst of all places and set you back even further.
  14. When it 'died' on you, did it make any unusual sounds (spluttering etc)? Also, when you try to start it, does the starter motor engage and does it attempt to start, or just nothing? Being a new car, this would have to be something for Toyota to check out cause they should fix it under warranty. Don't attempt to reset the ECU either as it may now have a stored fault code and freeze-frame data.
  15. I guess the only way would be if he allowed inspection. It does seem a little too good to be true. I'd ask for a photo of the odometer. Maybe he plans to actually just use that to advertise the car but he intends to sell it for more.
  16. Yeah. The gap is completely normal. I've seen the guys over at Toyota Nation ask it again and again as well with common answers. It's common among all of them. If you look at the filter when you remove it, you will see how that edge of the filter actually helps to form a seal for the air box without the need for rubber.
  17. I don't know about you, but to me there looks to be quite a bit of difference between the two in terms of the first piece. You would need more photos of the piece shown in the first photo to determine it its flat or whether it's more '3 dimensional'. Looks like it would take the place of the cat as well.
  18. Just bring an extra few layers. I pulled one of my warmer jackets out of the cupboard. Got the beanie as well.
  19. OMFG! Cost of cool cars Attn NSW owners - planning to lower your car? THINKING OF LOWERING YOUR CAR? and now: new anti hoon low
  20. If this guy ain't human, then damn.... spambots really are stepping up a notch. When you compare it to Carcrazy, this bot is smart... er.
  21. Well I have heard people referring to this place as the Corolla Owners Club before. That tends to give away where most of the active population here is at. The Aurion boards are picking up though.
  22. That clip was out of the US Gen 6 Camry service manual. The ECU that is in the Aurion is said to be the same. It is quite possible that the Australian market doesn't have that feature, but I don't see why they wouldn't since the Kluger's I believe have the auto-lock when moving feature. I guess if you have checked it yourself with the proper Toyota Intelligent Tester, then you are the one to confirm it can't be done. It's hard to prove these things when the dealer will charge you for their time if you needed their assistance. Out of curiosity, do you work for Toyota? And if not, how did you get your hands on their intelligent tester? Edit: I have heard there are different revisions of the Toyota Intelligent Tester, but since I'm not a tech for Toyota, I don't know what the go is with them.
  23. So then we probably wont see you till 2010 at this rate.
  24. Well since this thread has been bumped, I may as well jump in: 2004 - 2008 | 1991 Toyota Camry Executive (SV21) 2008 - Now | 2007 Toyota Aurion Sportivo SX6 Just before the changeover: Man my Aurion looks huge in comparison. I still miss my Camry.
  25. LOL. Murphy's Law says you will. And wow, we got a new member here by the name of SupenDave.
