  1. have bought heaps of stuff from MWR .... just check out my garage link in my signature. bringing over a crated motor is going to be an expensive exercise ..... but then again if u dont want to worry about getting it sorted here in aus and simply want a drop in then maybe that is an option for some.
  2. extended push rod from MWR also helps
  3. whether or not i think this is a good idea is irrelevant and rather than rag on your idea i thought i might as well give you some positive advice given the negative views already presented ..... a better alternative / approach is to buy a second hand ZRE as opposed to a new one given the fact that you are simply wanting the car for its body as opposed to anything else ...... now depending on how involved with the car industry u r u might also even be better off getting a repairable write off ..... all depends on whether u have the know how to get something like that fixed / sorted. Now for engine choice obviously going the aurion 3.5L engine would be amazing but given the sheer physics of it i probably wouldnt recommend it since toyota had a fair bit of engineering behind them when they fit the thing in the blade ...... i would probably recommend going to 2AZ out of the Rav4 ..... mind u its shared with the camry but it produces less power and torque now im not 100% sure why but a basic assumption might be the tune in the ECU but thats just an assumption. 2AZ - 2.4L from Rav4 Power 125kW @ 6000rpm Torque 224Nm @ 4000rpm 2AZ - 2.4L from Camry Power 117kW @ 5700rpm Torque 218Nm @ 4000-4000rpm 3ZR - 2.0L from Ultima - for the extra 2KW & 14NM of torque i would think this option is hardly worth it. Power 102kW @ 5600rpm Torque 189Nm @ 4400rpm 2ZR - 1.8L from Corolla Power 100kW @ 6000rpm Torque 175Nm @ 4400rpm So again i'd say to get some advantages a front cut would probably be best. As there might be some re-useable goodies. Added to this is all the supporting mods that u must not forget about i.e. sussy, brakes, clutch, LSD, etc etc etc. From here u then need to make some decisions N/A or F/I ? If u go F/I the advantage of going with the 2AZ is that in the US there are a crap load of bit given this is the same engine out of one of the scions i believe ..... so a lot of hard work has already been done ..... this however involves an even larger investment. Now dont get me wrong this will make the car quicker and given the extra torque will also provide a lot more poke through traffic however you arent exactly building a supersonic race car at this point. So just have that in mind when setting your expectations on the project .... caveat to this ofcourse is if you go F/I and re-build the engine and pump a crap load of boost through it ..... then u will have a weapon on ur hands ;) Now im not saying to go ahead with the project but just presenting an alternative ...... mind u if i had listen to the thousands of ppl that told me to sell the sportivo i wouldnt have a 12 sec sportivo today ...... but be mindful of the fact that being unique is going to cost cash and take time so its really upto you if your prepared to put up with it. The far easier path is as has been presented ..... buy something which starts at a higher platform. The choice is urs.

  5. hmmmmm i wonder how this would go if i dropped my current setup into it ;) ;) ;) ;)
  6. it is def a fuse ..... i had this happen when using a cigarette lighter socket charger for my GPS ..... popped the fuse ..... no biggy ..... from memory the bad boy that did this is above the glove box ..... i might be wrong as it was a few years ago this happened but yeah ..... just open/remove the glovebox and stick ur head underneath and look straight up ........ to be 200% certain just look it up in the manual
  7. obviously cant tell without having it all apart etc etc however from your description it sounds like u have shredded 3rd ...... happened with me about a year or 2 ago as well ...... time to rip it all apart from the sounds of things for u.
  8. TWM makes a setup for the ZZE rolla and it looked good ..... one of the other guys on here had one and although personally i found it far too short for my liking the product seemed to be pretty good quality .......
  9. the stock tread on the stivo from factory was 195/55/16 ...... which was a shocking setup because of how rare it is to find a tyre made in that size and when you do its stupidly expensive because its a rare size. 215/50/17 is actually going to throw ur speedo out by a bit and in the wrong direction ..... based on the calculators when ur speedo shows 100km/h u will be doing 104.2 km/h so u might trigger a few speed camera's inadvertently unless u keep ur eye on the speedo & adjust accordingly ..... a closer fit would be 215/45/17 Here is a calculator to muck around a bit with it yourself http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

  11. Hi Mish, Can i suggest that we merge the day event with Sydney rolla club ..... the SRC guys will be cruising on the sunday and being a few ppl are from both groups its gonna drive making a decisions on which to attend being they are straight after each other as well as day time sunday tends to be a bit more do-able for most than a day time saturday event ....... also given the local elections are on will make it an even bigger issue for the cruise on a sat. cheers Bill
  12. was it only the radiator that was changed or did u have a service done ? was anything else done to the car @ the garage ? as has been stated maybe check to see that ur spark plugs are all ok and even that the coil packs are fine. WRT fuel delivery maybe u could disconnect the fuel hose into the bay and confirm that u def have fuel coming into the bay ....... this is a bit messy so have some towels/rags handy that u dont mind throwing out. a broken o-ring could also do this in the fuel pump housing ...... man there are a few things that could go wrong and really depends on what you guys did above and beyond the radiator change ...... as in theory that should not have had any impact.
  13. good news ..... the stivo is back up and kicking ..... c u all there in the stivo ..... the bosch 044 kicked the bucket
  14. ok boys ...... at 7pm tonight disaster struck ...... my external fuel pump died ..... aghhhhhhhhhhh another minor screw-up to fix ....... anyway gonna get a look at it friday night & if i can fix it on sat ill be in the stivo ..... otherwise ill be coming in the other rolla ....... go the ae102 lol
  15. ah crap dude that looks bad ...... mate they totally sure nothing is bent ..... i mean great if nothing truely is and its in ur benefit if it isnt as once this area gets damaged or bent she aint right even after new parts going in ..... only reason i ask is the impact looks shocking ....... hopefully its all good.
  16. man some quick googling for the 2AZ brings up some serious after market support ...... i was really surprised http://www.maperformance.com/carrillo-super-a-beam-connecting-rods-05-08-scion-tc-2az-fe-to-2azfe.html http://www.wotm.com/jepise2a.html http://www.wotm.com/brcrst2fica2.html http://www.wotm.com/brcrststva2a.html or ohhhhhh baby 2.6L goodness http://www.wotm.com/brcr2stki2a.html come on fellas ..... with the sportivo i had so many hurdles getting bits and pieces ....... this stuff is just begin to be purchased ...... lol ...... bring on the engine builds in prep for big turbo applications ;)
  17. i wanna see someone bolt on a turbo kit to these bad boys ...... that will get some heads turning ......
  18. thing is u cant exact go all out quick N/A then pop a turbo on it because u r kinda heading in 2 different directions .... i.e. u'd go higher compression if u want n/a build but for the turbo u'd wanna decompress so u'll loose power n/a about 15% or so ...... so yeah not quiet going hand in hand ..... gonna have to pick a path and keep working in that direction ....... yeah man im gonna b at the meet ..... ill be in the dirty corolla that hasnt been washed in a while ..... hahahahahah ...... so stop by and say hello and let me know who u r on da forum as i know most ppl by their forum names ..... lol sorry mate no joy rides unfortunately ..... learnt that lesson the painful way ..... lol
  19. its a couple of hundred bucks if u head down to toyota for a new one ..... best way is disconnect the spring loading mechanism and put some velcro strip down the sides and a really thin one across the top ...... u will need to put some strong hold glue on the back of the velcro strips for it to stick permanently as the standard glue wont hold over time with heat / sun and u opening and closing it.
  20. I think you just made me decide 10k on a NA, ill wait to get my full license cheers guys :D thnks for ur help personally i think good choice ........ although a beefed up NA build would sound insane the bang for buck just isnt there ....... especially since the rolla is a fat little b'stard. Unless u r putting ur car into the races and ur going to build an n/a beast and strip it all out then yeah F/I is the way to go ...... now ur next big question S/C or Turbo ? ;-)
  21. hey mate ..... literally one page back is almost the exact same thread discussing this exact same topic ...... i have now merged the topics ...... please avoid being so trigger happy and starting a new thread when simply searching or even looking at older threads can answer your questions. cheers Bill
  22. Actually Dave far from it ..... im actually a consultant in IT ....... what i did do is A LOT of reading & A LOT of research ...... spent about 12 months making sure i understood what i was about to do and why ..... what would be involved ...... who i should get to do it etc etc ..... then i spent about another 12mths buying parts and then spent about another 2-3 years sorting the car out ...... in all it spent 3 stints or about 5-8wks off the road ..... added to this was the fact that i had the brilliant opportunity with the guys that worked on my car for me to be at the workshop and work on the car with them ...... most shops wont let u do this. All the theory was great but when it got to practice it was something else. Was an awesome experience. But just goes to show if u put ur mind to it and follow so logic steps u can make most things happen .....
  23. crickets fellas .... all i keep hearing is crickets ...... :P :P :P flame suit on :P in all seriousness no one is going to spoon feed you step by step how to sort this out ..... with that attitude my sportivo would have never got the turbo going ... we literally experimented and used our experience to work through everything step by step ..... i probably should clarify though .... be prepared to do things a few times before you get it right and be prepared to have some down time ..... If you arent prepared to front the cash and expect a certain amount of down time them maybe you need to think about car modifications not being for you. Put simply if everyone is going to stand on the side line there will never be progression.
  24. yep i should be there 1. Stock 2. Chrono Trigger 3. Kenneth. 4. Synthetic05 5. sikwitit 6. Xoom
  25. come on fella's ...... is someone going to get some brass ones and man up and do this or what ...... i think this is about the 10th thread (ok i might be exaggerating but its definitely not the first) where this has been discussed ..... for anyone looking at modding the sportivo let it be known there is limited off the shelf straight plug and play modifications available ...... small tweaks or a bit of R&D needs to be done to make it happen with this car ..... so am still waiting to see someone sort this out in AU in the rolla ............ all i keep hearing is crickets when the question is asked who it gonna put their hand up first
