  1. My sister-in-laws son just has to have his chocolate .... and boy does he let his mum know it ..... lol ..... there is a second part which i will post once i have it ..... i found it hilarious .... enjoy.
  2. y dont u follow the CAI install backwards ? just a suggestion.....
  3. i had the car running for about 18mths with everything cyro'ed and treated .... then it developed a click into 3rd gear ..... dont know what it was ..... so i figured if we are pullin it apart i might as well throw the jubu gear in ..... did this in nov last year ..... wen we had it all apart there was nothing wrong ... syncro's were fine, gear itself was fine ..... was just bizar ..... only thing we could think of was due to the way my selector cables run and the mount of the turbo there was pressure being put on the selecter cables ..... so this time around we have routed the cables a little different and so far so good .... knock on wood. One thing i did notice though is the car needs to get warm and in running temps before shifts smoothen out ..... not that im nailing it wen its cold but its a bit notchy when cold then once warm its gone ..... or if i shift by letting the revs drop completely then the notchyness is also not present ..... meh i warm it up a bit more before i drive. And yeah the E153 conversion kit wasnt available until late last year which was way after i finished with the car ..... plus doing what i did is obviously cheaper than the setup ....... will c how this goes before taking it to the next level i think
  4. LOL .... the stock gearbox isnt that weak ..... its not made from paper :P :P :P ...... its more the repeated high power runs and repeated launches and driving it hard that will eventually kill it ...... I drove mine for a year or 2 i think if not a bit more and even did a few drag events before it caved in .... and really its only 1 gear for me that kicked it .... 3rd .... MWR killed both 3rd and 4th but that was in their 10 sec celica. Thats why i am now running the JUBU upgraded gears for 3rd and 4th n lets c how they go ..... knock on wood so far so good .... i should also mentioned i had the other gears & internal shafts put through the engineering treatment of shot peaning and cyro treating etc etc as well ...... So its more when boost comes on strong and it hooks up that there is a slight flexing in the shafts which is why is chops 3rd and 4th.
  5. Looks good man ...... Is that the E153 or the stocker bolted up ? If its the E153 how does it sit in comparison to the stocker dimensions wise?
  6. sorry guys im out ..... cant get out of work commitments ..... By any chance do you know if they are thinking of bringing an event like this to NSW ?
  7. reviving an extremely ancient thread here ..... any of the QLD fella's know what came of this in the end ? i heard the engine went after the owner didnt watch the fluids and basically cooked it ...... but yeah did it ever get back on the road ?
  8. im running the apexi powerFC since its made for the celica however its not a 100% plug and play and it required some pin re-wiring .... you can also go motec or adaptronic or hydra. I dont know enough about the t-sport ecu to give you a recommendation so you really are going to have to see what the locals are doing. Yep i know exactly what ur gonna do with the turbo .... see the pics below .... this was the car of another person who used to be on the forum but the car has since been taken off the road after it broke a number of things ..... not sure where it is now or if its even back on the road. Original thread Regarding the heat shields .... you just got lucky ..... i keep all my paper work filed for the car and i just looked through the receipts and found what i bought ...... http://www.aclperfor..._heatshield.htm ..... rated to 800-900 degrees & you can shape it into anything ...... i bought the largest sheet and cut it up and bent it as required. Was only $170 here in Aus .... might be a bit more since this is a local Aus company but its well worth it.
  9. if i knew u were going to gloat this badly i shouldnt have sold it to you :P :P :P :P :P :P hey Xoom . i have been reading up on your build since i started mine :) i thought i was the first one and then seen yours and noticed you got MWR to give you a feature which was great.. yes i will have a surge tank as well in the fuel system , am correct in saying you have one aswell ? and what make is it ? i have big brake kits lined up for the car and i am planning to buy the adapter kit from MWR so i can run the toyota MR2 turbo gear box with an LSD , clutch and flywheel as like you said the standered gear boxes are week. hope you dont mind me asking on what other problems did you run into on your build ? just so i could have a heads up for mine lol thanks for the info i appreciate it loads yes i am using a surge ..... its a full custom setup fabricated locally ..... have placed a pic below to give you some idea's ..... ensure u use the good stuff i.e. braided lines and high quality fittings ..... last thing you want is a dodgy fuel smell or worse a fuel leak in the cabin ..... also you could try and mount the bosche outside the cabin but i just wasnt happy with doing that ..... places were too tight or left the pump too exposed for my liking ..... also dont forget to run an inline filter from the bosche to the fuel rail .... i found the gap just after the fuel tank a perfect spot for it ..... its a cheap insurance policy incase the bosche craps itself and i have had 1 already do so ...... there are a lot of simple cheap insurance policies that ill talk about. regarding issues ..... firstly being a right hand drive means (im pretty sure its RHD in the UK right?) that space behind the engine is to a minimum ...... which means that fitting a GT35 with an external gate might be a little challenging ..... clearing the selector cables and how you are going to route the plumbing to the turbo is going to need some creative fabrication ...... have you thought about how u r going to rotate & mount the turbo ? i.e. is the exhaust going to be facing the wheel arch or the centre of the car ? both have pro's and con's ..... i opt'ed for facing the exhaust to the wheel arch and if you are going to do that then i would suggest u go for a split pulse dump pipe which has other advantages but also saves a little space (pics below) Back to those insurance policies ...... i would recommend getting the moroso oil pan .... again given the amount being spent on the project this is a drop in the ocean ..... also comes with the added handiness of having all the oil line plugs already part of the pan ..... Another one for you is also a power steering oil cooler ..... in my setup again because of the squeeze the exhaust has to get through an the sheer heat we found the power steering fluid was heating up so we dropped a cooler in ..... u can see it just behind the intercooler piping behind the grill ..... this is before everything was sprayed black so its not as visible now. Yet another issue dealing with heat is protecting the surroundings of the turbo ..... we opt'ed to mount a heat shielding found in drag cars which can protect upto 900 degree's C worth of heat ...... again have included a pic below ..... the stuff was brilliant as it could be bent and cut as required. And lastly get urself a good tuner ...... u still havent commented i dont think on what ECU u r gonna run ..... make sure the guy has either tuned 2zz's before or knows the ECU inside out ..... the 2zz is a picky engine to say the least and a good tune is a necessity.
  10. hmmmmmm ..... I would love to come down and fly the flag for TOCAU (if the VIC crowd would be ok with that ) ...... but i dont think i can get out of work commitments ..... ill have to see.
  11. Yep thats Dennis ..... havent seen him on the forum much lately though.
  12. LOL ..... the chrome dome too much for u ..... lol .... yeah i been meaning to but wat do u do .... no time for it ..... was this at the lights getting onto lane cove rd ?
  13. now a real ZRE upgrade would be to rip out that 2ZR and replace it with a 2AZ ..... or if u really wanna be creative a 2GR ;) ;) ;) ;)
  14. awesome stuff ..... once this bad boys spools its going to be a handful on the road. I would suggest some additional supporting mods ..... like bigger brakes, LSD and u r def gonna have to do something about the gearbox ...... you will find that 3rd gear will let go no too far after getting it on the road ..... not so much from driving it hard but purely because the torque and power is just too much ..... also what computer are you looking to run ? im speculating given the 2 fuel pumps ur planning to install a surge tank & not just have a return in the fuel system right ? Look at my ride thread linked in my signature for more details of what im talking about as trust me im talking from experience ;) ;)
  15. i think this is the key ….. villawood was great as it was a massive carpark due to the bunnings and we kept out of the maccas carpark ….. this was ofcourse until for some reason a whole bunch of morons starting dropping in thinking they could use a carpark with speedhumps as their local drag strip ….. idiots ….. However it does have 2 memories which im not sure if people are still around from when they happened ….. 1) When the female copper put her wagon up on 2 wheels because she didn't see that nasty gutter as you exit & 2) when that under cover reporter rocked up trying to get the word from us on where the drags are on ….. they were the best. As stated above places like botany, brighton, bondi, La Perouse etc are now flooded with cops and their make shift pit patrols to run over anything with an exhaust. So just for the simple harassment factor those areas are a no go + the fact that too many idiots have ruined these areas already. We need to find something with all the above mentioned from john and is well light up ….. you know olympic park is a classic where you can take good pics but i don't think the food places up the road i.e. maccas etc are open too late from memory & as long as you park properly you don't get much attention from the cops / rangers. A few places that ive been to with other clubs have been the ***** smith / hungry jacks in northmead on windsor rd which isn't too bad ….. even the parking lot @ red yard in Auburn has been a reasonable spot ….. not in the cinemas though as the guards got a bit touchy in there. We are open to change as i think we are all pretty flexible but we just need to put a few ticks in a few boxes before we do so ….. so do make a suggestion and it will be considered.
  16. was a great night guys to catch-up with a few old faces and meet a few new ones. Ahhh so thats what those guys in their stivo on their own were trying to do ...... talk the ep3 into racing ...... shockers man ...... i think while we were there we must have seen atleast half a dozen cop cars with sirens going flying up and down the road + it being double demerits ...... seriously ppl need to learn to take it to the track. Those young fella's that rocked up in the prado were totally blown away ....... they couldnt work it out when i told them the car could pull 12 sec quarters ..... lol .... i think the funny response of "oh im into commodores" was so random. but yeah totally agree Defyant it was an amateur shu habib ..... hahahaha That FTO almost made me p.i.s.s myself it was so funny ..... First the failed straight line burn out and of all places in a maccas carpark the size of that 1 .... what a douche bag .... then him almost steering into someones car attempting to start that u-turn over the speed bump then almost collecting that BMW trying to complete his u-turn ...... followed by what sounded like his clutch getting stuck due to it over heating and him looking like a bigger douche bag by just sitting there and the revs sitting on the limiter ...... The only thing that could have topped it off is if he had run into the maccas sign on his way out ....... that way hopefully it would have been enough damage to get him and his s#itbox off the road and stop giving car enthusiasts a bad name. It still would have been funny to have it on film to laugh about it repeatedly ..... i had my phone out but didnt even think to start filming.
  17. see you guys Sat night ..... however ill be there between 8-830 as i cant make it any earlier. 1. m.C 2. ooh it's still warm...juvenile 3. VF-X 4. ZR6XY 5. Brendan 6. Seby123 7. cruzer (maybe) 8. Synthetic05 (maybe) 9. Defyant 10. u54mot (Maybe)?? 11. Xoom
  18. Get urself a big brake kit ...... U won't regret it .....ok ur forehead might when it slaps the front windscreen lol For pads I found the ferodo ds2500 to be a good sturdy setup.
  19. The exhaust place should have the gear to shave the bar for u to clear the tips from the bar
  20. really? it sounds a bit steep for labour only :/ I'm guessing the place he got the quote from has never done a clutch swap on a sportivo. There is a generic guide that I have seen mechanics use to quote jobs and in it for the sportivo it states that the clutch swap is a 4-6 hr job. As stated for someone that has done it before or knows their way around a stivo u can half it as stated by others here. So if this fella has quoted 350 either expect the price to go up after he starts or u r getting a good deal.
  21. sunshine .... looooooooooong time no hear ....... so have you agreed to stop popping them out and start modding the car again yet or wat ? :P :P :P :P
  22. ive been running royal purple in the engine and in the box since i built my engine and havent had any issues ..... yes its a little more $'s but i think its worth it
  23. hmmmm .... this is weird ..... maybe its ur car duy :P :P :P :P im running the JDM runx tailights and they fit straight on not probs ..... so i dont think its a jdm vs sadm issue .... just weird
