  1. i concur .... on top of the heat the guys mention above im also running a turbine under the bonnet and knock on wood its held up fine for the last few years no probs
  2. the sony will probably be narrower than the OEM stereo ..... u will need to get a stereo surround filler kit .... i remember i got one from strathfield car radio for like $25 when i replaced my double din with a single din sony .... if u have the harness kit then it should just all wire up
  3. do you know if you are running the stock clutch from factory ?
  4. seriously cant believe u just gave that advice SD ..... LOL ....dodgy much :P ...... given the 30+ degree days that are coming this will occur at pretty much every traffic light. Literally from memory there are 5 pins that need to be altered .... now you can either make up a harness so you dont need to alter the car wiring or you can simply hard wire it into the stock plugs. To work it out simply download the sportivo ECU diagram from the pinned topic and the celica ECU diagram from the newcelic.org forums and simply mark up the differences and wire accordingly.
  5. if its the AWD setup from the JDM runx then i think you may want to have a good think about whether it will be able to handle the abuse, extra torque & power that a boosted 2zz is going to push out ..... i mean check the figures out ...... these things arent exactly putting out big numbers http://www.carinf.co...0d70411700.html (91 kW / 125 ps at 6000 rpm and 162 Nm at 4200 rpm) http://www.carinf.co...3240411698.html (76 kW / 105 ps at 6000 rpm and 137 Nm at 4200 rpm) The other big issue is the running of the shaft down the centre of the car to drive the rear wheels ...... u are more than likely going to need to take some meat off the chassis to pull this off -> the car is no longer road legal ..... no matter what you try and do to get in engineered. I have searched long and hard to try and get a picture from under one of these runx's but have not been able to obtain one ..... so that would be an interesting pic to shed some light on the matter. Even the bates worshop out of the ACT were doing this mod ages ago using the AWD out of the GT4 but the simplest of issues was it wasnt achieveable without rendering the car un-road worthy ....... So no i'd rather keep driving my car day to day thanks Duy :P :P :P :P On the other hand if u r building a off-street track warrior i cant wait to see it. -----edit --------- a good read for u all http://www.turbomagazine.com/features/0710_turp_awd_turbo_toyota_celica/viewall.html
  6. ages ago there was also a brashboys twincharger kit i believe but the reality is that its a lot of pain to go through but u know each to their own ..... atleast the lotus is RWD so that makes it exciting with all that power ;)
  7. and ur sure he didnt put a powerFC into it and set the low cam to continue to 7K rpms with no change over until after that ????? sorry most of the ideas i had are taken above so i had to add one from left field ;)
  8. LOL you stooge duy ..... actually it was the painful way of learning about why u never keep a rim with tyres standing at a workshop and why you always lay them down flat ......... yep have upgraded the rims .... check out my thread in the corolla section as to why this needed to happen ;)
  9. Hey Guys, What can i say .... once u start u cant stop. So my next lot of upgrades finally arrived ....yay ..... took forever. Due to this i have had to upgrade my rims which ill keep my lips sealed till i can make it to the next meet ;) This is why i have the rims for sale - TRD Rims for Sale
  10. Hi Everyone, Up for sales are five Bronze 16" TRD T3 Sport 1-Piece Forged Rims. These are extremely rare in Aus and you cant buy them anymore since toyota japan stopped making them. They are sub 6kg's according to all searches i have done per rim (without tyres obviously). Their offset is +45 with PCD of 4x100 and brand new to get into Australia where over $650 each + shipping. The 4 main rims that will run on the car are in immaculate condition & dont have any scrapes or marks. Although these have Adrenaline RE001's for rubber running on them i would suggest they would be up to be changed sooner rather than later. The sale is mainly for the rims. These rims all have TRD air valves running on them as well. The spare rim had to have the edge repaired after a workshop incident & hence the reason it has a silver lip all the way around (see pic below). Other than this the spokes and everything else is in immaculate condition. The rubber on the spare is still pretty much brand new from factory & running the turanza. This rim has a Rays air valve running on it. Reason for sale is they will not fit over my next upgrade and hence i have had to upgrade the rims i am running. Stock wheel nuts wont fit on these rims so you will need to buy some after market wheel nuts. As these set me back over $3200 to get into the country i am looking to hopefully get $1600 firm for them. Guys please no low ballers. These are worth every cent. At this stage people who can pick them up from me will take priority before i consider shipping them. So if you are interstate & are interested do leave a note and if not sold locally you will be top of the list. Obviously if i cant sell them locally shipping costs are at the expense of the buyer. You can contact me by PM on the forum or simply post in this thread. cheers Bill
  11. No dis-respect meant but if this is all you are after why not just get a front mount off ebay and slip it in behind the front bar ..... if u r not all that serious about the project then u r just gonna dig urself into a bottomless money pit with no way back ..... the real question really is do you want to spend $10K+ ..... if not ur best bang for buck is to sell the car and buy a turbo'ed factory car. Hey Seby thats blasphemy :P :P :P Absof@#$@enltely generally i wouldnt agree with this statement i.e. my sportivo .... as otherwise we wouldnt have unique creative machines zipping around but as i stated in my comments above ..... if he aint serious about the project then yeah this is probably the best way to go. If you are up for it then here is a start although not directed at a ZRE the same principles apply.
  12. am over the moon that my overnight parts from Japan have finally been put on a plane ..... a month later lol

  13. LOL .... well atleast he did the right thing and didnt start a new topic ;) On topic though if you are sticking with a hatch then by far the easiest option is to simply sell what u have and buy a sportivo ..... just my thoughts on the matter.
  14. just my recommendation to the equation ;) ;) ;) shipping shouldnt be any more than around $250 i wouldnt think. http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/product_info.php?cPath=25_111&products_id=318 http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/product_info.php?cPath=25_132&products_id=1074 http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/product_info.php?cPath=25_132&products_id=372 http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/product_info.php?cPath=25_136&products_id=720 http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/product_info.php?cPath=25_136&products_id=721 http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/product_info.php?cPath=25_111&products_id=717
  15. "gross vehicle mass" in relation to a motor vehicle, means the maximum mass of such vehicle and its load as specified by the manufacturer thereof or, in the absence of such specification, as determined by the registering authority. In other words when the car is fully loaded it shouldnt exceed 1625kg's. It was printed i believe as weighing in @ 1225kg rolling out the factory but various people have shown the weight to be more in the order of 1185kg's .... which mind you is another weight that it was report as being in the past.
  16. as a few others have already stated the $500 aint gonna get u much by way of mods to get u to go faster ..... u have pretty much ruled out the only mods that would be valued at that price ..... I reckon take SB up on his offer ..... he'll do a good job of stripping it down ;) ;) ;) ;) Or http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOYOTA-1JZ-TWIN-TURBO-NON-VVT-TYPE-2-5-ENGINE-1992-1993-1994-10184-/150921189589?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item23239a98d5 its only $50 over the budget ......
  17. slap a turbo on it ..... get urself under 13's ;) ;) ;) ;)

  20. Its hard to get 100 mph even with a turbo, but we trying this stuff long before the internet, websites and electronic timing. In fact we werer converting 3TGTE's before many of you guys had licences. This was the first 3TGTE engine into a hybrid in Australia in 1984. 1983 Toyota Red T18 RWD 3TGTE/W58 CBL-237 Ballarat Airport 1984. (as featured centre spread "The Country Connection" full write up in Turbo Australia 1985 June) Worst run (first run) 13 inch steel original wheels. 13.9s Best run after changing to 14 inch BWA Magnesium-Alloy wheels, and working out best revs to use. 12.6 at 117 mph. Best alltime 12.2 1/4 mile Calder Park 1985 at the TSCC/FordSCC meet. Class record for One Tree Hill climb at Ararat and Camperdown runs, same year. 100MPH is not too difficult to crack with some descent mods. When I had my stivo I took it to WSID (first time ever) and got a ET of 14.9 @98MPH and 14.8 @95MPH. With weight reduction it should be achievable. I really do miss the stivo roar compared to my new car. I still have it in the family but it is now stock and a good daily for mum and dad.
