  1. And what a frosty drive it was ...... The kebab machine was loving the cool breeze Lol ..... Now time for some kebabs
  2. All this talk of power now lets get serious boys and girls .... when is someone going to turbo one ? ....... unless of course i look into...... NO NO NO i think ill be chucked outta the house if i land another custom turbo setup in the garage .... sorry fellas someone else is gonna have to pull their socks up LOL
  3. looking good JP ..... cant wait to see what sort of power u get out of it.
  4. even with the stock rpm redline there have been a few failures ....... its just one of those things where for a few hundered bucks u buy urself some insurance ......
  5. Here is the thing ..... it really is up to the dealers discretion as to whether he void the warrenty and not replace shocks and use the lowered springs as the reason .... the other thing to highlight is that the modification would only void the warrenty on the parts changed and on the parts impacted by the change .... i.e. it doesnt void the warrenty on the whole car ..... so if you change the springs and the gearbox goes the gearbox would still be covered under warrenty unless ofcourse they prove somehow that u have been abusing the car ..... So if you swap the springs out it would mainly be the shocks that the warrenty would be questionable on but to be honest if you want to do this right why not swap the shocks out for something more suitable at the same time ..... yes more money but atleast then u have done it right .... u've done it once and u dont need to think about it again. To be completely honest as well the warrenty is only as good as the attitude of the dealership you are dealing with ...... if the dealer has a crappy attitude they can find any little reason to deny your claim ...... in the end i personally decided the warrenty was a piece of $.h.1.t hence just started replacing stuff at will ;) ;) ;)
  6. What's linkages worth now days ? Same deal with me sometimes Notchy sometimes very smooth.. man to be honest i cant remember what i paid for them .... i bought them ages above and just never bothered to put them in until recently ..... i just looked at my CC statements online and the only transaction that seems to ring a bell at the time was for $145 but im not 100% sure that it was for these. If i find the receipt ill PM u. Actually the celica box has the exact same ratio's as the stivo other than 6th. In fact you could say mine previously was almost identical to a celica prior to putting the jubu ge****t in. So i wouldnt think this would fix it for you .... but then again u just never know. As an update .... it was notchy last night on the way home but perfectly fine this morning on the way to work ....... Regarding the other issue some WD40 seems to have fixed it.
  7. hmmm ok ill have to take a look at all these options As an update the car cold driving last night going home from work and this morning coming in to work was smooth sailing ..... no issues, clicks, grinds what so ever ...... very very very bizar ..... seems to have a mind of its own so no idea ..... due to this inconsistency you just can tell what going on.
  8. yeah this issue is a bit of conundrum ..... i never had this issue on my 1st box but i have it occurring on my 2nd box. We had to re-build my 2nd box since i wanted to put my LSD and celica 6th into it and after a short period of time of having it on the road it developed this exact same problem and ONLY when cold ...... i had the car like this for 6mths before i got sick of it and we pulled it all apart to throw in the Jubu ge****t and looking at the gears and syncro's there was nothing wrong ...... no marks of abnormal wear nothing ....... so at the same time as doing this 3rd re-build i threw in a new set of selector cables because my old set were hammered from the way they ran around the turbo piping ...... anyway the new setup also does it but it is not as noticable as the stock gears which might be because the teeth of the jubu gears are just monsters compared to the stock gears ...... but yeah it has me stumped ..... also it doesnt happen all the time e.g. for the last week its only happened on 2 or 3 occasions that you can feel a click/grind as its going into 3rd and other than that nothing ... smooth shifting from cold to warm on about 7 of the times i had to cold start the car ..... i run royal purple in the box so i dont think its the oil but yeah very weird and very bizar ...... i couldnt be bother pulling the box apart again so am gonna live with it since now it comes and goes but pretty much for first 10-15 mins of driving shifting into 3rd at 4000rpms is a bit hap hazard .... but only when cold & only sometimes ...... weird ..... Without hijacking this thread the other interesting thing thats just developed is every 2nd or 3rd press of the clutch pedal there is a high pitched "ting" & u feel a little notch in the pedal feel ...... as if i need to WD40 something .... weird .....
  9. We found ourselves look into some very very very exotic vehicle
  10. im currently using the apexi power FC however currently on the market there are far more options available that can do as good and a better job to jason's point ..... at the time i did my setup as i said there wasnt much on the market that people had actual experience with especially with a 2zz ..... so the tuner that did my car was a wizard with the PFC and so that swayed the options and to be honest i wasnt too keen on experimenting ...... but yeah far more available on the market now and i think jason has given you a few options ..... but as stated find a tuner and see what they are good with ...... although the ECU isnt that expensive losing an engine due to lack of experience is an expensive exercise.
  11. ah thats right .... totally forgot .... well thats 1 head f@#$K you will not have to think about. man thats a big turbo .... gonna produce some hardcore power if all is setup right ..... only thing might be is day in day out driving might be a hassle because u will probably need to get the revs up to get the boost coming on but once it hits ..... ill tell u wat u sure are going to feel it. regarding the IC piping if you are not running the moroso oil pan from MWR then you could clock the turbo so the intake side points straight down then basically run the piping under the engine ..... from memory there is enough room down that route if you dont have the pan ..... if you do then you could try and do what i did but i warn you you are going to have an absolute sh!t fight with the air filter piping going to the side of the turbo depending on where your manifold sits the turbo in relation to the selector cables and their bracket ..... it is a very very very tight fit to the point where i almost had to re-design the entire piping because of this ..... see my pics here: You may have mentioned this before but i speak to so many people about their conversions ..... where are you mounting the turbo ? was it going to be above the box or behind the engine ? knowing this will also help make some decisions.
  12. ah man ..... im in tears after watching that ..... shame he didnt stick the landing ..... lol
  13. good stuff mate .... u might also want to look into a power steering oil cooler .... all depends on how the plumbing looks .... also remind me what turbo did you end up going for ? 3071 or 3076 ? and which variant as there are a few models in that range.
  14. Spotted this nice looking stivo at Macquarie park
  15. ah the good old ebay kit ..... the fine print is wonderful "THIS PIPING KIT IS UNIVERSAL,IT IS NOT BOLT ON TYPE.CUSTOMERS NEED TO CUT AND BENT THE INTERCOOLER PIPE TO FIT YOUR CAR." A play on words of universal vs bolt-on ..... as stated read my ride thread also linked below is a write up i did a while back Force feeding your corolla - responding to my pm's Even the yanks know to stay away from the ebay kits ..... read this write up Why the eBay turbo kit is a piece of crap that you shouldn't buy To be brutally honest the only time i would buy one of these ebay kits would be if i was trying to turbo a crapper car to thrash at the track and i was trying to do it all plus the car for under $5K & all for $hits and giggles .....
  16. just some pics from the recent mcm meet ..... damn it just highlights the car needing a wash though .... lol

  23. the capa folks make some kits for toyota's but it doesnt appear they support the 3.0L V6 http://www.capa.com.au/kits_toyota.htm you could piece it together with one of their custom kits .... either way it gives you an idea on pricing. Rotrex is also another path that you could take.
