hey guys just wondering if anyone has done a DIY belt replacement for the drive belt in a 1zz.. i tried a quick search but couldn't find much...

my car has just clicked over 200,000km so time to change the belt, but would like to try it my self.

any tips would be great..

just the jips of it, 19mm on the tentioner, turn it clockwise from memory, that will slackn the belt tentions so u can get it off.

I changed mine myself after installing the supercharger DIY.

This is a pic of a US Corolla motor, and the engine is (1ZZ-FE)

As Prozak has stated, you will need to pull the tensioner in the direction above to slip it loose.

i believe the 2zzge engines are similar location but i cant find the damn thing! what happens when u put the new one on, i know its an auto tensioner but do you have to turn the tensioner anti clockwise to tighten it back again? or u have u keep a constant pressure on the bolt with the wrench while slipping off the belt?

also how hard is it to turn the bolt? i dont want to pull and yank until i find that i've broken something because i've pulled on the wrong bolt. -_- pictures and arrows would be nice ;)

i wanna get a bosch belt when this ones through... which is another 80,000kms at least :P

you have to keep a constant pressure on the bolt with the wrench while slipping off the belt.

You don't turn the bolt (ie. loosen) it is welded to the tensioner. it is used to 'lever' the pulley tensioner (will require a fair bit of force)

also, it will 'snap' back into position when released.

In green is the bolt for the 2zz

fanks dooode. champion! now i can do it myself without having the mechanic to charge an arm and a leg to do it :D

i'd recommend using a ring spanner for the job, or a socket and ratchet.

when using an open ended spanner you will probably end up rounding off the edges of the nut.

last time i had it done my mechanic only charged me $70,, and it took him 1/2hr.. i figured it cant be that hard, so i'll have a crack at it this time.. ;)

i'v just completed the belt change,, piece of cake..

done in about 15min.. a little bit tricky getting around the last pulley, extra set of hands come in handy here..

good luck for the future guys, its not too hard ;)

with the supercharger, its an extra 2 more pulleys to get around.

digging up this old topic, does anyone know the part number for the 1zz serpentine belt?

whats the length, to cross reference to non-oem parts?

90916-02468 without air conditioner

On a side note, I recommend using a "single hex" 19mm socket on a breaker bar to get the tensioner loose. We did this on a friends celica and we ended up rounding the nut on the bolt with the double hex and then snapping the damn thing off when we used the breaker bar with single hex socket.

We had to use heaps of force to get it off. When I did mine I have to remove the under guard loosen the side guard of the right wheel to see what was going on. Definitely needed an extra pair of hands and eyes for this. Very scared to also break my bolt but my tensioner seemed to be in good nick still...

I have been given this part number: 90916-02544 (old) which has seen been updated to 99366-H1830 (new).

Anyone know which is right? same part just different number? Length wise? I am assuming H1830 means 1830cm.

I have a SA made zze122 though. same as the JPN one?

mm not cm lol. ahh SA made corolla... may be different let me have a look...

part numbers above are for the japanese made corollas.

90916-02544 is what shows up on the database...

yeah just quote the that part number and see if its updated or not. but the last 4 numbers doesn't mean the length. but its pretty damn close to it... the sportivos from SA too and they have a number similar... i forgot though its on my ride thread lol.

99366-H1830 supersedes 90916-02544.

and i suppose 1830 = 1830mm not cm :P

was also told that the 99366-H1810 replaces the 90916-02551.

the length would be the key i guess. how much length difference is ok?

bosch catalog says 6pk1815 (1815mm)

sometimes the bosch catalog is wrong. i looked at the zze123 and it had the same length as the celica one... turned out it was wrong so dont trust it much... the length is always correct on ur belt if u can still see the print take note of it for future reference. toyota belts are pretty good in price anyways.

I can't see the length on the old belt. the writing is quite faded. hence the concern for a change soon.

best i could made out on my belt is 90916-02544, which seems to be right. (its superseded by 99366-H1830 now).

The toyota part is quoted at $96.92. quite expensive?

the parts salesperson told me that the 99366-H1830 is 1830mm.

I am thinking of getting a gatorback of 1815mm instead. suitable?

Nah u better get the Toyota one... I think I paid round 75 for mine... U would have a hell of a time getting the a belt that's 15mm shorter on...

Hi guys, gonna resurrect this thread again. 

Looking to buy a belt for a 2004 Jap 1ZZFE.

Can anyone confirm what the belt length would be. So far seem to be confused with the 6pk1810 and 6pk1815.

      Query about the correct rotors for 2006 ACV40 Camry.

      Hi, I'm looking at a set of front rotors for an ACV40 2006, 2.4L Camry. I got a good price on some RDA's at Sparesbox. However both RDA8112 and RDA7686 show as for my car and I'm wondering what the difference is and if there were changes to the rotors during the model production. So does anyone know which rotor is the correct one? Many thanks in advance.

      Your solution is akin to suggesting that switching to a different car manufacturer would resolve the issue. However, not everyone shares the same enthusiasm for using an iPhone as you do.

      Turboed Corolla Overbuilt?

      that engine will be fine, the rods are the main thing to be concerned about. The 2860 is a decent turbo for the 1zz but in this day and age I'd go for a G25-550. The injectors might be on the small side, we run DW1000's. You need a full length injector, the shorter injectors with adaptors like ID1050x dont fit the 1zz head. You don't need an aftermarket intake manifold, if you do go down that path, avoid the CNC innovations unit, it's garbage. Do the boost control with a MAC valve and control it with the aftermarket ECU of your choice, I use Link stuff on most of my builds with the G4x Storm as the minimum. I also wire a fuel pressure sensor and oil pressure sensor to the ECU in my installs. Use a decent intercooler, the better cores (ARE, PWR, Garrett, Vibrant, Plazmaman, Hypertune) work a lot better than the chinese stuff like Aeroflow. a 450x250-300 fits fairly well with custom end tanks to route the cooler pipes through next to the radiator Don't forget about the clutch and gearbox. These days I like the Uniclutch twinplate, Above 300whp you'll want to think about upgrading the 3rd and 4th gears in the box also with the SSC (Hollinger) gear set and install an LSD of your choice. If you're going to give it a hard time, you'll also want an oil cooler. I like the HKS thermostat type sandwich plates and setrab or mocal oil coolers with -10 speedflow fittings/lines (Chinese AN fittings neck down to a lot smaller internal diameter in their bends, not great for flow) You'll also want to think about brakes, Celica or Sportivo front calipers will bolt on with sportivo discs as a starting point. To have somewhere like Tunehouse do the work you'll want to budget somewhere between 20-40K

      I did the mathematics myself regarding costs vs benefits for fuel injector cleaner. I have changed from 91ULP to 95PULP and 98PULP. Price difference can be about 13 -20 cents. Compared to 91ULP, Premium quality fuel should have a better quality additive package designed to have superior engine cleaning capabilities so the engine can perform at their best.

      Camry Touring 2010 A/C Issues.

      Hi Guys, My Camry 2010 Touring just had a regas done on it and the next day for some reason it wasn't blowing cold air but the next day it is and now working with nice cold air BUT every now and then we can hear and feel a buzz for a few secounds and today while my sister took my car I could her like a mild knocking sound when stopped but goes away when driving off. Any idea what this could be and the A/C is always working now for now.
