Corolla Sportivo questions.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys.

I have just bought a Corolla Sportivo (2003 model) and have a few questions.

1. The biting point in the clutch is very high. The clutch is slipping so I need to get that done. Any idea of a good clutch kit? Does it need a new pressure plate normally?

Is it a specialist job or relatively straight forward?

2. I'm going to give it a full service - any tips on the best oil? It has 215,000k's but doesn't appear to be blowing / losing any oil.

3. Any recommendations for coolant?

4. I believe there is an in tank filter? Easy to change?

Any other tips would be great. Really enjoying it so far.

Thanks in advance guys.

Gus

Any recommendations where to get the clutch guys? Xtreme directly? Will I need to give the flywheel a skim and get new bolts? And new rear main seal?

A mate of mine is doing this - are there any tricky bits that he might need to know or is it fairly straight forward for a typical mechanic?

Also, where is the best place to get the coolant - just walk into any toyota garage?

Xtreme website -> find a local distributor button on the top right, call through the list. I noticed that some places they list stopped stocking their products.

Flywheel would most likely need machining, and existing bolts should be fine. I was told by my mechanic to leave the rear main seal alone unless it actually needs replacing but it's up to you since you got it all pulled apart already. It's a fairly straightforward job so he should manage.

With the coolant, yeah pretty much any toyota spare parts office.
