Just did my oil change using Mobil synthS 10w40, and the car feels a little more sluggish. Just wondering if any of you guys are using fully synthetic and how t feels?

is that the mobil 1 'gold' 10w40??

if it is.....than it shouldnt feel more sluggish ; me n northy r both using that n our cars run sweet :)

if it isnt the mobil 1 'gold' than go buy sum :)

for engine oil, am using

Castrol Formula R Synthetic 0W-40

* SAE 0W-40

* API SL/CF.

* ACEA A3/B3/B4

comments: can't notice any diference, but should ensure engine in good nick

for transmission oil, am using

Castrol Syntrax 75W-90

* SAE 75W/90

* API GL5

comments: smooth gear change

hmm

ive been using genuine sh!t ever since i got the car

anyone else uses it and did a change over?

genuine motor oil...is pretty good haha

never used anything else so wont know the difference

cost too much man

genuine motor oil is like 5 bottles for around $60

my 5 cents:

when you next service your engine and transmission oil, feel the toyota's engine / transmission oil and then feel the synthetic oil (e.g. castrol).

the synthetic oil feels much smoother, lighter [viscocity]

i dont go any thicker than 5W with my oils

besides toyota's genuine oil is just castrol anyways so whats so genuine about it

its just sponsorship

also you can opt for full synthetic oil when you get your service done and they will use there genuine oil HEHE

i used motul 10w40(i think not 100%certain on that now) full synthetic once before and i was pretty happy with it

BUT then somone made a comment that motul and the vvti motors dont go that well together

even though i never experienced any problems i wasnt willing to take the risk for in the future

so seeing as though castrol and toyota are in sponsorship together im gonna start using full synthetic castrol oil

yet to go shopping to find the exact 1 im going to use yet hehe

but i assure you it will no higher than 5w or lower than 30

cheers

"Thats why I'm giving it heaps, to thin it out a little :lol::lol: . Next time i'll try the fully synthetic, the Castrol 0w40 Formula R."

Hey Lucio, go 2 rounds of the mobil1. you got the right weight for our cars IMO. When i first changed over to it, the car was sluggish and it drank 0.5L over 4,000 k's!! When I went for the second change at 10,000k it came back superb and really flexible up top.

I have experimented a little with 0W and 5W and found the 40 mobil gold to be the best especially with summer comming on so strong! but year i found ever so slightly more power with the thinner oils but engine ran noisier and rougher im now sticking to the gold 10W-40W much smoother...

this is a good read http://neptune.spacebears.com/cars/stories/oil-life.html i was going to put in Mobil gold when my 1k service hit but still weary on that and might stick to whatever they change it to. I love mobil oil been using for years but i got this list when i did a search on there site of oils the reccomend. Talk about variety but i know i wouldnt be touching the xhp or hp blends. Might go mobil 1 10W-30 TOO MANY CHOICES!!!

MOBIL 1 10W-30 or

MOBIL SYNTH S 10W-40 or

MOBIL SUPER S 10W-40 or

MOBIL 1 5W-50 or

MOBIL SUPER XHP 15W-40 or

MOBIL SUPER HP 20W-50 or

MOBIL SUPER GF-2 10W-30
