Hi all,

Quick one.

I'm aware of the TRD quickshift kit, and my understanding is that it is to suit the 2ZZ (6 spd).

Is there a reputable (possibly TRD) short shift kit for the 1ZZ (a 5 spd rather than 6) that anyone knows of, or has had experience with?

it looks like you could use the runx/sportivo trd quickshifter in a 1zz but not sure if anyone has tried that before. if you do get the trd shortshifter there are 2 types on the market for 2zz the other is for celica which is different.

I'm not sure, but Danz may have a short shifter on his 1zze?

Extreme custom engineering in Brisbane can also mod your stock shifter for a short throw. It's pretty easy to do with the right tools.

The TWM one is the one that I plan on getting - I've heard ONLY good things on these from every other 1zzfe related forum I've visited.

The instructions are well detailed and seem to include everything.

most of TWM kits are good. they use the orginal base for most of their kits.

the good thing about the TRD one is that it comes with the base and the brass washers. improves on the shift quality, being sharper and more direct. just that their throws could be a bit shorter.

Yes you can use the 2ZZ-GE short shifter kit on the 1ZZ. I know someone who has done it. I believe that he didn't need to modify anything.

just wondering if the TWM kits angle the shifter to the passeger side of an Aus car since they're designed for the US market?

If you have a look at the aus standard shifter you will see it is angled towards the driver.

i just put my twm in today, the shifts are short the stik is short but requires more force to get into as expected... a lot more force

Switch to a heavier shift knob, that should help out.

Speaking of heavy shifter knobs. Try Chrome?  :D

in summer those kind of knobs get really hot!

Just a question guys is it possible to use the TRD quick shift kit for the Jap model....ZZW30 MRS it has a 1ZZ-FE and it is a 5 speed M/T?????? :blink: If so OTAKU PM i think i just maybe able to help u out??!!! :)

The Linkage from the gearbox could be different to the one in MR-S, even though the gearbox is the same. Just because the gearbox is the same it doesn't meant the shifter is the same.

Besides, you can always buy short shifter from TWM or B&M. Unlike TRD, they do not come with the cradle, but damn they are short both in throw and rod height.

So in actual fact no-one really knows 100% if it wont fit or not do they?????"THEY COULD BE DIFFERENT"!!! :blink: But since it is so close in all other aspects to our 1ZZ-fe thats not to say that it COULD be modified to fit without too much dramas if necessary......TRUE!!!!????? :blink::huh: :D

Hey ROLLAMODS or anyone else that is a mechanic or other..... Can u do sum research on this topic and see if we have a possibility of using the Jap model ZZW30 MRS 1ZZ-fe 5speed M/T short shift kit on the COROLLA??????Thanks heaps if u can do so!!!! :D I'm not very good with this technical stuff!!!!! :blink: :(

If it is just the interior im pretty sure that it would either fit or if it doesnt it would'nt be very hard to modify the plastic interior!!!!!! :D Thats the fun of it isnt it we modify every other aspect of our cars im sure doing it to the interior isnt going to be any further from doing a body kit, a re-spray, interior re-trim.....etc But still it is possible to be done!!!! :lol: :D Isnt it????!!!!LOL.........."TIME AND EFFORT"........Anything can be done nowadays!!!!! :lol:

      Query about the correct rotors for 2006 ACV40 Camry.

      Hi, I'm looking at a set of front rotors for an ACV40 2006, 2.4L Camry. I got a good price on some RDA's at Sparesbox. However both RDA8112 and RDA7686 show as for my car and I'm wondering what the difference is and if there were changes to the rotors during the model production. So does anyone know which rotor is the correct one? Many thanks in advance.

      Your solution is akin to suggesting that switching to a different car manufacturer would resolve the issue. However, not everyone shares the same enthusiasm for using an iPhone as you do.

      Turboed Corolla Overbuilt?

      that engine will be fine, the rods are the main thing to be concerned about. The 2860 is a decent turbo for the 1zz but in this day and age I'd go for a G25-550. The injectors might be on the small side, we run DW1000's. You need a full length injector, the shorter injectors with adaptors like ID1050x dont fit the 1zz head. You don't need an aftermarket intake manifold, if you do go down that path, avoid the CNC innovations unit, it's garbage. Do the boost control with a MAC valve and control it with the aftermarket ECU of your choice, I use Link stuff on most of my builds with the G4x Storm as the minimum. I also wire a fuel pressure sensor and oil pressure sensor to the ECU in my installs. Use a decent intercooler, the better cores (ARE, PWR, Garrett, Vibrant, Plazmaman, Hypertune) work a lot better than the chinese stuff like Aeroflow. a 450x250-300 fits fairly well with custom end tanks to route the cooler pipes through next to the radiator Don't forget about the clutch and gearbox. These days I like the Uniclutch twinplate, Above 300whp you'll want to think about upgrading the 3rd and 4th gears in the box also with the SSC (Hollinger) gear set and install an LSD of your choice. If you're going to give it a hard time, you'll also want an oil cooler. I like the HKS thermostat type sandwich plates and setrab or mocal oil coolers with -10 speedflow fittings/lines (Chinese AN fittings neck down to a lot smaller internal diameter in their bends, not great for flow) You'll also want to think about brakes, Celica or Sportivo front calipers will bolt on with sportivo discs as a starting point. To have somewhere like Tunehouse do the work you'll want to budget somewhere between 20-40K

      I did the mathematics myself regarding costs vs benefits for fuel injector cleaner. I have changed from 91ULP to 95PULP and 98PULP. Price difference can be about 13 -20 cents. Compared to 91ULP, Premium quality fuel should have a better quality additive package designed to have superior engine cleaning capabilities so the engine can perform at their best.

      Camry Touring 2010 A/C Issues.

      Hi Guys, My Camry 2010 Touring just had a regas done on it and the next day for some reason it wasn't blowing cold air but the next day it is and now working with nice cold air BUT every now and then we can hear and feel a buzz for a few secounds and today while my sister took my car I could her like a mild knocking sound when stopped but goes away when driving off. Any idea what this could be and the A/C is always working now for now.
