Hi group,

I've just been perusing the forum looking for a post that lists known issues and things to check when looking to buy a used Aurion. The one I'm looking at is 2008 Toyota Aurion Presara Sports Automatic.

If someone knows of a post like this, please share a link as I haven't been able to find one.

Cheers!

Hi Nvrau

I bought a '07 Presara about 5 years ago and overall it has been faultless. My best advice for you especially when buying a Presara model is to do you homework and know all it's features (and there are many!) and to test each any every single one of them before committing to buying.

One of the great features of the Presara model is all it's toys however if any of them break, it can be painful on the hip pocket.

Personal example, The HID globes need to be replaced every 3 years or so. The quote I got from Toyota to replace them was $1200. About $450 for each globe and about $300 for installation as the whole front bumper had to be removed just to access and to replace the globes. Needless to say, I did it myself for $150 but if you're not nifty with minor car repairs you need to keep this in mind.

Forum example, one of forum members had a question about automatic rain sensors on his Presara and long story short, his car no longer had one because the previous cheapskate owner had cut it off just to save a few dollars when replacing his windscreen with a generic one rather the specific type that accommodates the rain sensor.

There are many auto features on the Presara, I can't stress enough the importance to find out what they are and to test them all.

Mechanically though the car is rock solid, I bought my Presara with 80,000 k's on the clock, I've added another 70,000 and the only time it 'broke down' was when the battery was flat.

Hope this helps mate/

Check for VVT-i rattle .

Check that the VVT-i oil pipe has been replaced.

Check that the oil cooler pipe has been replaced.

Check that the dash is not sticky.

Also reading one of you other posts you say it's done 91000km?

If this is so make sure the major service has been done. Long shot it hasn't if it's from a dealer, but if it's private I'd check anyway.

Can be pricey when you don't do it yourself. Average $1000 from dealers.

New plugs and bled brake would be my main concern.
