Who's changed their factory speakers?

What size/ what brand?

Stealth install or Custom install?

I'm interested to know what people have done. Post pics if possible.

i am using alpine type s and the size is 6.5 inches all doors. they just drop in with no fuss. in the boot i have a 12 inch subwoofer in a sealed box.

if you run a search you should find past topics on speakers. be careful with focal speakers in the doors as they could be too thick to fit behind the doors.

Stealth install Focal 165K2 splits. They fit in the doors no problems. Tey are quite large speakers, but still fit in without the use of spacers.

i just got 6" JL audio splits for front

ive already got 2 12" mtx subs in the back

still looking at rears

but i dont mind 6" JL audio 2 or 3 ways

6" JVC 4 ways

6 1/2" cadence 2 or 3 ways

it comes down to what fits and what sound ya want at the end of the day.

im even considering adding 3 or 4" speakers in the rear pillar above the parcel shelf.

comes down to money and how it sounds once the original speakers are replaced.

zkorro, u sure u got 6.5 in all doors? cos eddy torezz said that he has 6 inch. i just bought a bunch of new audio equipment and the guy told me that 6 inch should fit i pick it up next weekend so i hope he was telling the truth! lol

the day i picked up my car i went straight it the guy i always get to instal my stereos and he had a good look and said stock the speakers are 6 inch.

but you could possibly fit 6 1/2 inch because of the depth and width of the doors.

rear speakers only hold like a 4" speaker,, also for the people that have installed rear speakers did you have to drill out the plastic pod, because removing that speker there is no way that you can drop a 6 - 6 1/2 speaker in there are no mounting holes or screws

ok so did we work out what size speakers would fit? there seems to have been different responses from everyone...

im looking at replacing all the speakers in my corolla (as well as adding a sub :) )... as far as i know 6.5" splits will fit in the front doors... but im still not sure about the rear doors... the hole measures 5" across, so does that mean i can only get a 5" speaker in the back?

could someone please clear this up for me cos i have no idea what to start shopping for.

cheers people

in the sedan i have 6.5" in all doors both front and rears using nothing but original locations. they are alpine type s.

i have 6 1/2 inch in front and back doors howeva i needed a spacer in the back door for a nice snug fit. the original rear door speakers are shaped weirdly and have there own spacer type thing around them. but im not sure about anyone else here weather they used spacers or not. but when i saw the size of the speaker i could swear you could possibly fit 6 by 9s in there but dont hold me to it.

I've replaced the fronts with Kenwood KFC-M1625IE (6.5" 200watt 3 way)

Used the stock speaker mount (just brutalised the existing speaker to get it out) works fine...there's about 15mm clearance between the top of the speaker and the door trim.

Yet too look at my rears but will probably replace with the same speaker.

Did you guys keep the original door trimmings on the front doors to insert new 6 or 6.5inch speakers?

Posted

yep kept stock door trims - the kenwoods I put in have a fairly large 'tweeter' and I was a bit nervous about them fitting but as I said above they fit with around 15mm clearance.
