Most standard excesses are $500 and most companies will charge you extra on top of your standard excess due to your sex and age. Toyota's seem a little higher than normal (AAMI from memory charge $750 on top for males 18-20). It will be listed somewhere on your insurance papers.

An increase in your premium as a result of your accident comes as no surprise.

Bad luck mate. As Andrew said the excess is there with all insurance companies. Just need to find one that is cheap enough in terms of premiums and least amount of excess. However once you mod the car be prepared for heftier premiums as they know not a lot of options is out there for you. Gotta pay to play :).

Shannons is good if you are above 25 and have a nice driving record. Paying 900 a year and 500 excess with lots of major mods.

^ lol

so i have to tell insurance about lowering? and it will definitely go up in price? <_<

Yes, you must tell your insurer about lowering your car. Even if you install a new strut brace/sway bar/alloys etc.

As for a premium increase, it depends on your insurer. When AAMI switched to a more mod-friendly attitude, they gave the first 3 mods for free before your premiums went up.

I didn't pay extra when declaring my extractors, catback and lowering springs.

well for my one yeah.. kinda, but then again my panel beater told me to change insurance after the camry gets fixed,

Your premiums will be higher with other companies due to your accident (I'm assuming you are at fault given you are paying the excess).

You will still need to declare mods to your new insurer regardless.

I'm with Shannons and for the first 2yrs with them was paying $770 with all my mods listed and $500 excess, but after my hail claim they put the price upto $900,so i'm hoping it will come down a little next year

and yes to being honest with your insurer, list all your mods with them, the piece of mind knowing your covered is worth the extra dosh.

also remember to read what % they will pay back on your modifications, you can up the amount for a price of course,i currently have $18000 worth of mods listed but they will only pay about 60% of that if something happens..ie audio worth $10,000 will only pay $6000 unless i decide to pay more per year.
