  1. Anyone have or know the part numbers for Whiteline rear sway bar? If it comes with nolathane bushes, do you need these for the front sway bar also to match take up rates? Anyone installed these? Does anyone have a Whiteline camber and/or caster kit? Got part no's?
  2. Hitting lift everday and only driving around town: pre-CAI was around 550km, post-CAI I get around 600-650km. I'm driving to Melbourne in March (750km each way) so will be able to do a continuous highway test.
  3. You can just see one end of my blue grounding cable attached to the front of the left hand strut tower in my garage pics. The other end is on the engine block. IMHO, it improved nothing significantly. An upgrade of battery and/or alternator would do more for voltage and current stability.
  4. Check these websites: Aust customs service Department of Transport This information is under the Personal Imports link at the DOTARS website - To be eligible for a personal import the following criteria must be satisfied: 1. the vehicle has been owned and used by the applicant for a continuous period of at least 12 months (3 months where ownership and use of the vehicle commenced before 8 May 2000); 2. at the time the vehicle is imported, the applicant is: 1. an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident; or 2. a person who has applied to become an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident; 3. the applicant is of an age that entitles him or her to hold a licence or a permit to drive a road vehicle of that type; 4. the applicant undertakes to comply with any requirements as to road safety that are imposed in respect of the vehicle by the Administrator; and 5. the applicant has not imported a road vehicle owned by him/her within the year ending on the day on which the vehicle in respect of which the application is made is landed in Australia.
  5. I would ship it back, but make sure you have everything itemised on your insurance! Also, do they roadworthy check imports in your home state? There's a lot of stuff that may not comply (eg. height, no cat) that could cost you to fix. And then there's modified car insurance to worry about....
  6. so no 2ZZ-GE for it?
  7. I've always found you get what you pay for. For mine, I think the $450 for the TRD CAI is well worth it, performance is DEFINITELY improved and the sound? Well, it's awesome.
  8. Yeah Craig
  9. Sort of the reverse operates in some countries, like the US. I lived in New York for 3 years, and the motor registration dept. has a computerised system linked to an insurance database that ALL insurance companies can access. What this means is that any "moving violation" (e.g. speeding, running a red light, drink driving etc.) results in an entry in the insurance database. Then what happens is, in addition to any fines or demerit points on your license, you IMMEDIATELY begin paying more for your insurance. The logic is that people who commit traffic offences are at greater risk of having more accidents etc and should pay more for insurance. It is a true "user pays" system. What I would like to see in Australia is not just limits and curfews for P Platers as an incentive not to break the road traffic rules, but also a reward of sorts in terms of lower rego or insurance costs for those who do obey the rules or who seek out advanced training. Then you have not just a carrot, or a stick, but both. And surely then most who are tempted to consistently speed or otherwise break the rules will learn that it is a costly behaviour?
  10. It was weird the first time I had the wife and baby in the car - I forgot what I was doing and had a run with some kids in a V6 Commodore. We were at the lights and the road merged from 3 lanes to two, so I had to try and get in front (which I did easily). However, I got yelled at a LOT.
  11. Yeah, it came with it. But it's more of a 6-point harness as it is secured by the centre belt as well.
  12. What would be cool is a little leather seat. It would aid cleaning by repelling the vile fluids that seem flow from both ends without any warning.
  13. I know it adds weight, but it's sort of required by law to transport little people...
  14. I restrained myself for the first 50km before I hit lift. It was the day I picked the car up though. But, I don't burn any oil now (~15,000km).
  15. Red Calipers.. you painted them ??? whered you get the paint .. and yes ... the head lights are different ... no eyelids .. yet ! I know a guy that sells white brake decals .. high temp would look nice on red calipers .. ← Use VHT Brake Caliper and Rotor paint from Autobarn or just about any auto retailer.
  16. Hey kick_ass, good to meet you last Friday and have a cruise with another Sportivo. Let us know what the problem was if and when they fix the front end noise.
  17. Bruce, I've emailed and PM'd you - not sure if you've received these messages. I am in dire need of an elbow replacement and keen to hear back from you...
  18. Got pics of the stainless goodness?
  19. Errr, none. At least, not a noticeable amount....
  20. You didn't run over that dog did you?
  21. Thanks, but I already read that thread and it doesn't actually answer my question. As of the last post (Aug 2004?), the cable "fix" wasn't an official recall issue. I haven't heard anything contrary in the last 6 months, so are dealers doing this for everyone? I just want to pre-empt my dealer saying "I've never heard anything about this"...
  22. I am due for 12 month service and right on cue my cable rattles have reappeared. Was there a recall on this? Anyone know the number so I can look it up and have documentation ready for my dealer at service? I have always had trouble shifting, especially 1st-2nd so want to get the clutch adjusted too.
  23. I wouldn't bother as the chrome vent knobs tend to reflect in the outside rear view mirrors, especially on the LHS. It's the one thing that bugs me about my car, and it is even noticeable through the tinted windows!
  24. Thanks Paul, but I never over-tightened the clamps. Also, Danthuyer has seen several split hoses in addition to mine so it is occuring. When I originally posted (and I included a picture that illustrated the point), the split occurred not around the clamp but around the edge of the throttle body, which to me suggests in my case it had nothing to do with the clamps. It may well have been due to the CAI mounting brackets or some other factor, but there is very little room for movement in these anyway so I can't see how there was any other way to install them. In any case, I will try and get in touch with Bruce about replacement elbows.
  25. These are exactly the symptoms I had when my rubber elbow split, letting in air after the airflow meter. The car would run better after warming up, but still wasn't right. I'd check for leaks just before the throttle body, especially in the rubber elbow. Bruce from TRDsales.com was checking with the US suppliers to see if this was a common problem as there have been quite a few of us Aussies with split elbows.
