  1. Got my letter Wednesday. 10K service and recall parts being fitted next Friday. I'll be removing my CAI tomorrow, and then putting it back on after the service.
  2. I still don't have my letter...
  3. Wait. What boot lever?
  4. My guess is that increasing the weight will change the resonant frequency at which the gear selector assembly vibrates (i.e. it reduces the rattles).
  5. There is no scheduled 1000km or 5000km service. The first is highly recommended after running in, the second is recommended if running in 'extreme' coinditions (dusty, repeated short trips, racing, etc). From what I remember of the service manual, they don't even recommend a time interval (e.g. 6 or 12 months), just dservice at 10,000km intervals. That being said, my dealer is doing the scheduled services, I do in between oil and filter changes. Haven't had any suspension problems or noticed lack of performance with older oil (but it's never been more than 5,000km old...)
  6. Details here: Toymods SA
  7. Richi, I took those pics on a Palm which has pretty ******* white balance. They aren't as red in real life trust me. Plus, once you get brake dust on them (took about 5 minutes in my case) they are darker still!
  8. I'm a researcher in the area of human sleep and insomnia.
  9. oz, the old gold sportivo had a 7A-FTE. Oops, you are right. I assumed because it was a 1.8L. Anyway, mine is Nov '03 build, first reg Jan '04.
  10. The oldest Corolla Sportivo would be the last shape, turbocharged 1zz-fe, limited edition in Tuscan Gold. Only 500 made and sold in Oz. There's one in my neighbourhood, but I don't know who owns it.
  11. I thought they were much more expensive than the Unichip, for not much more return...?
  12. Welcome to the forum. Let's try and organise a meet when you are back in town. I guess when you're done studying there'll be another Sportivo owner with a PhD...
  13. **** *** ***** ******** *** ****** ******* ******! Heheh.
  14. don't forget delivery....
  15. Isn't there an underlying problem also in that if the lights dim under load, then the alternator is supplying insufficient current. My understanding is that the alternator supplies the current when the engine is running, as once started the engine will run without a battery. Logically, I guess a larger capacity battery will help though as it would supplement the current under high drain conditions. But will a pissy alternator be able to maximally charge the battery under all conditions?
  16. There's been a Silver '04 at Northpoint Toyota in SA (where I bought mine), for at least 2 months now. They moved it out of the showroom into the yard I guess so more people would see it. Anyway, I guess this confirms that there is still stock available.
  17. Had a look at the service manual for the stereo - the pin is a 3 digit number, and black455 is right - it is NOT set up from factory.
  18. Just posted a link about a Toyota cruise this Saturday: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/index.php?showtopic=852 I'll PM you SA guys about it also.
  19. Check the Toymods link below for more info: Toymods
  20. Could you let us know if you find out the code?
  21. If this did happen, would the dealers be happy if WE fit the parts they supply? That way you could gauge the benefit of the chip alone, if the new exhaust was more restrictive/quieter.
  22. That rocks. Topgear is a great show, where did you find those clips?
  23. I changed the oil and filter at 5,000km - from my re-collection the service manual only had a service interval at 10,000km. Now I'm worried I might have missed it....
  24. Hee hee, there's a Leyland P76 in that race beating two 911s and a Falcon.
  25. Got TRD front strut brace and CAI from Bruce - he'll definitely look after you...
