I'd definately cap it, it will be messing with your air fuel ratio's quite a bit. Should be able to get a rubber cap from industrial plumbing places, Pirtek, Enzed, LHS, or use a section of rubber hose with a bolt jammed in the other end, etc etc.

why is there a filter on the tube coming off the CAI? That would be introducing unmetered flow to the intake and messing with your tune... Paint looks good.
  3. replacing the dampened harmonic balancer with an undampened solid pulley is a really bad idea. If you want an underdriven crank pulley then get someone like Ross Performance Parts to make a proper item... http://rossperformanceparts.com/
  4. are the stock injectors normal 11mm topfeeds? If so you can use some ST215 3sgte 525cc injectors, or even some Injector Dynamics 725cc. Insight Motorsports stock the Injector dynamics range in Sydney. If you're doing a full wire-in then it doesn't take too much longer to trace the loom back from tne engine side, some probing with the multimeter should also quickly reveal the ignition and main relay circuits to anyone familiar with ECU wiring.
  5. Are you running a powerfc? Check the MAF sensor.
  6. QLD Police were the only ones who were able to shear the outer section of the brake rotor from the inner hat on the patrol cars, I guess that says one thing about how they're driven :P
  7. does the PCV return pre-turbo? If it does, the whole intake/cooler etc will be coated in oil from the blow-by. Catch can usually sorts it out, all the XR6 turbo coolers I've purchased have had a liberal amount of oil in them.
  8. oil in the intake... blow-by?
  9. looks like a fairly standard quote. Lists everything they perform to repair it.
  10. Space is the main issue, it's very difficult to get an equal length manifold in a RHD ZZE with the steering/mount/shift cables/driveshaft all in the way. Even with a custom manifold it's hard enough to make one with a normal merge-collector.
  11. If you want an aftermarket ECU that can run the 2grfe properly, then look at the Vipec V88. It supports the 2GR trigger pattern, fullVVTI control and the DBW. ECU is about $2400 + install/tuning. Thor Racing in the UK have done a few 2GR's with the Vipec V88/Link Xtreme Pro
  12. If it did a piston and rod, the block will be damaged. So it will get a short motor as a minimum if the head isn't damaged. If the heads damaged too then it may be more economical for the dealer to put a new long motor into it. When the TRD's were first released, one did a rod. It was one of the silver toyota demo cars that was used for the tech training, press and customer drive days. It was broken eventually by a salesguy basically thrashing it and spending extended periods bouncing off the rev limiter. After that one the ECU recall was done to change the mapping slightly
  13. No, it's a Neil Trama built/tuned setup. It's not Jason's, Jason built/tuned the engine in my forester before I fixed it. Thread from the owner here: http://www.monkeytuner.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2984&p=41986#p41986 My vvti 2J is in an MX83.
  14. Yes they're 2zz, one of the Neil Trama 2zz turbo 500hp+ setups is in this car: http://www.neiltrama.com/ I sold my chaser back in 2005 from memory, it was then written off and the drivetrain now lives in a cressida in Newcastle. The atlantics now run a mazda engine which replaced the hasselgren and loinings 4ag's.
  15. so you know the bores of the alloy blocks have nothing holding them at the top and they can flex because of this yes you agree??? also every 1 know the best strongest and easest toyota engine to make massive power from is th 2j I've got 2x 2J's aswell, one in my weekender ;) Dowel the sleeves if you're that worried about it, or CNC close deck the block. Not that it's required though when you look at the 600hp 2zz's that track race both in Aus and overseas.
  16. Yes I've seen the engines, I have all of them in my shed, 1zz, 2zz, 4A, 7A, 3S, etc etc. If you want over 200kw atw from a zz, throw some sleeves in it when you do the pistons and rods, they're cheap, available off the shelf and easy to fit. The cranks are just as strong as a 4a crank, but aftermarket are available if you want to burn cash.
  17. lmao... This thread gets even better! Have you seen what a stock 2zz will put out power-wise when turbo'd? Or even a 1zz with .63 rear GT30? I wonder who designed the 2zz head.... probably the same lot that designed all the other toyota -G heads... ;) I'd compare a 7A to a 1zz, they both have toothpick rods. the 2zz has nice beefy rods like the smallport 4ag or AE92 MAP GZE.. Can also alter the dynamic compression ratio with the vvti to keep the zz engines together at higher boost on stock pistons.
  18. I wonder if mine is going to be quicker than both of yours next week. (lets see what the 5afte can handle eh?) With a highflowed gt25 ihi turbo on a 2001 sportivo.. 2.5catback system with TRD muffler (custom 3inch dump) / custom manifold. sard fuel regulator , k&n flat panel. turbosmart t piece boost controller / garrett boost gauge, standard ecu mapping. standard fmic (toms tuned) (number 38 of 110 2001 sportivo turbo). Didnt change the profile of the standard turbo ..but highflowed it as big as a gt28 catridge! Hoping for at least 180kw (if it throws a rod.. the 5agte build will have to start a bit sooner!) ------------------------------------- I doubt your car will get anywhere near 180kw atw. Your stock engine is a 7A, not a 5A.
  19. the powerfc can't control the nos, and isn't capable of having an input from the nos kit to know when it's active. PFC is basically one of the worst ecu choices you can make if you want to integrate the system properly with your fuel and ignition maps. With the powerfc, you will just have to tune the cells that are active when the nos is engaged and at full power. Crossley Street and Race engineering tuned the other NOS'd sportivo with powerfc in Brisbane.
  20. overfilling your tank wont cause that. Whoever replaced your fuel filter didn't connect the high pressure hose correctly. It's basically impossible for the hose to become disconnected when it's installed correctly.
  21. the one in Pippy's car I installed has held up fine in the 40,000km it's done so far both supercharged and now turbocharged, daily driven on semi-slicks
  22. 2zz box will bolt up, I'm not sure if the flywheel would but I doubt it. What did you actually break in the 5-speed? Most wreckers should have stock of the ZZE 5-speed boxes.
  23. if the sump worries you that much just get the stock one modified along with the oil pickup. I dont have a build thread for my AE82, pictures of the one from Malaysia were posted at twincam.org.au. Google pheonix tuning for Dr Tweaks.
  24. do you want a bolt-in cage or weld-in? Extreme Custom Engineering in Archerfield do cages, would be a ton of labour to make one for an aurion though.
