  1. Paradigm Posted Jan 5 2010, 10:32 AM Adamsy, don't you already have a Presara sat nav unit in yours? As for fitment, I don't have any photos but you've seen mine anyway, with the single DIN, pocket, and side fillers. Fits pretty tidy. Theres about a 1mm gap between the side fillers and the pocket/HU, but thats because the pocket is made from crappy plastic so when you screw it all together nice and tight, it doesn't take long for the plastic thread to losen and strip out. I really need to get into Gunns and grab some bolts and nuts, drill it right through, and secure it that way. I looked at a Pioneer a few months ago on ebay like that one you posted. Was looking at about $400 from the US, BNIB. Was pretty dirty about it too, coz I'd paid $450 for the Pioneer I have, only a month or so beforehand! I'm gonna rip it all out of my dash in the next couple of months though. Once I find a USB touchscreen that will nicely cover the entire hole in the Toyota DIN facia, I will be installing the screen behind it and an old laptop in the boot, as a media centre/satnav/OBD diagnostics system, and mount the Pioneer deck in the glovebox. yeah mate mine sure does have the sat nav unit stolen out of a Presara in it but apart from the Bluetooth and sat nav it has no more features than the standard unit except better eq. and a better appearance of course but in terms of expandability for iPod, aux, usb, sub pre outs etc its no better and whilst its true most problems like the AUX can be fxed and you can get looms that turn speaker cable to RCA's to get around the pre out issue exist i just want to make it easy as possible. I have somebody looking for a sat nav unit so if we can strike a deal ill sell him mine and work out something else, that’s why i was curious of the features of the Auspack unit but other than having USB and aux direct in the unit she’s the same as the factory one. Albeit shed loads cheaper! There’s a fair few options out there though it has to be said.
  2. Paradigm Posted Today, 12:54 PM They are fairly simple to fit, providing you follow the instructions carefully. Took me about half hour to fit the 4 of them. Just make sure you line it up 100% before you peel the tape right off, coz once you get the primer on there and that double sided tape sticks like sh!t to a blanket! The sub $150 mark seems to be the going rate if you talk to the right person at your dealership. As Adamsy said, he quoted me about $134 for mine, both sides. Apparently it ended up slightly more than that, but not sure exactly how much coz my folks ended up buying them for me for xmas. I think RStyleRacing also carry them, so depending on how long you are prepared to wait you can probably get in on a group buy and nab them at a cheap price. I think originally i quoted trade price that was near as make know difference to $120.00ish but then your rents came in and got served by somebody else and got charged RRP which im sure was $134.00 but yes it easly comes to less than $150 for all 4. Scoota: $121.55 actually is a good price for both full size ones, i'd even say that perhaps Co-Op gave you trade price there as normally there $70 each!
  3. HOW MUCH! Damm the dealers over there screws ya's for everything they can. I got set in for Paradigm over xmas and i think there was like $134.00ish? correct me here mate if i'm wrong but i'm sure it was something like that :S certainly not $170-200 though! they usually work out to be a fairly similer price to buying to normal sized one but ofcourse you get 4.. smaller yes but 4 none the less!
  4. Has anybody read the short review in Jans issue if Wheels? Have a read: “Aurion has long been a car that's gotten by on the strength of it's smooth, powerful engine backed by Toyota's marketing muscle. The rest of the fundamentals here in the Sportivo ZR6 guise are dead ordinary, from the budget-feeling interior, to the lumpy suspension tune, and the springy remote, steering that has the tactility of a PVC jump suit. A facelift has failed address any of these shortfalls. Instead the ZR6 scores a few Cosmetic and equipment upgrades plus the option of poisonously expensive ($4500) sat-nav. Sure it's a reliable Toyota, and will probably outlast the cockroach, but a XR6 creams it for driver enjoyment and can be had for thousands less. AW " Guess he didn’t like it much... thought the interior bit was funny though? sure perhaps Toyota should of gone for a colour screen in the ZR6 or some sort of "central control centre" but at least the dash panels don’t move and don’t feel that everything is going to break off when you touch it like it does in other certain Australian build cars and ergonomics, don't get me started, you don't see things like Traction control buttons (ok so we don’t have one but still) and fog lamp switches put where you can’t see them behind the steering wheel and a starter button system that needs a key two? i mean the Aurion’s interior is much better thought out place sure the seats (TRD cars aside) could be better but dam that one really pee'd me off! But i wish the media would either like or hate Aurion, there all over the show, Wheels says that but then Motor says things like "it can actually be inspiring and punted quite hard" carpoint, com.au : "Here it comes: Toyota's Aurion Sportivo ZR6 is an appealing car." "Cornering is surprisingly good from a car that rides as well as this and NVH is correspondingly low for a vehicle with the Aurion's performance potential. The driving position is comfortable and easy to adjust, with excellent seats that will hold and support the occupant properly without being too aggressive and niggling on a longer journey. “Who would have thought that a great big Aussie-built front-driver with a V6 could be so competent on so many fronts? Ummm... Magna fans, perhaps?” “This reviewer was rather dismissive of Toyota's TRD version of the Aurion, but the Sportivo ZR6 has few of the flaws of the supercharged car. Straight away, we can say that the ride/handling compromise is better and drivers will be able to use the majority of the naturally-aspirated Aurion's power and torque up to the legal limit without a whole lot of carry-on from the front end -- in the dry at least.” " && "The Aurion is literally a jack-of-all-trades. " ok finished having my say now, over to you guys!
  5. yeah i'd be with you there on the gap thing, bit silly you'd think that the Surround would bring the gap size back to standard 2DIN size not 2DIN then some lol let me know how you go with the custom job as i would look at doing something similer as well.
  6. 1stKILL: Haven’t decided on the exact h/unit yet but it will either come from Pioneer (so like the one i first mentioned) or from Alpine. Question how much gap do you have between the unit and the surround and does it look silly in real life? Also along with Paradigm i reside in Devonport, the "gateway" to Tasmania aka Home port to the Bass Strait Passenger vessels Spirit of Tasmania twins. Which if you can remember is about 20mins via the highway to penguin then Burnie is a further 10-15 mins. You might remember the old highway that wound its way around the coast right through Penguin? Well it's now a scenic drive and the preferred road for guys with go fast cars and bikes even Top gear drove on it when they came here. Lol yeah we have a shocking road kill problem, guess that’s what happens with forests along each of the major highways and well drive on our amazing back roads at night and you'll do good not to have at least a near miss :S Tasmania your natural State lol..... DJKOR: yes you sure do seem to be the heart beat on this forum but it's good to have somebody on here that knows the Aurion inside and out. Thanks that was how i thought best to also get the badge off, if i can get it off nice and clean i might put it where you put yours although i have a TRD sticker there so might have to go on the chrome strip above the glove box.
  7. DJKOR: I’ve tried hard to come up with a reason as to why i was so dumb to realise that yes the Dor badge fits well and that my boot idea was redundant but i can’t so DAMM YOU LOL! Speaking of badges now though, how best did you find it to get the badges off? i just so happened to find a TRD badge at work that i was going to put on the boot where the Aurion badge is lol. Cheeky yes i know.
  8. Thanks guys, those pics were exactly what i was after, been a huge help thanks tonnes! Also wouldnt the Aurion badge off the boot be a better fit for the console than one off the door? just a thought.
  9. Thanks guys, those pics were exactly what i was after, been a huge help thanks tonnes! Also wouldnt the Aurion badge off the boot be a better fit for the console than one off the door? just a thought.
  10. ahuh thats exactly the sort of picture i was after lol, i was wondering how the double DIN units would fit and look in the factory surround you can buy. that kenwood system is fairly close to the other Clarion unit i was looking at two. also i notice you have a tonne of Rockford gear, have you powered the front speakers of the head unit then the rear and sub of a 4ch or how have you gone about it?
  11. "Spotted the other night: Adamsy's Aurion cruising past McDonalds Dev... and past... and past again... Trouble finding a park, mate? lol Those rims look tidy as, btw, now I've finally seen them in the flesh." Lol yep that was me, must of been my night to be the driver :P and yeah shes goes alright in the flesh, noticed you have put the slimlines on your's already lol should catch up for some pics one night!
  12. Hi guys, Was just wondering if it would be possible for some others to post some images of the head units they've put in their Aurion? Just trying to gauge how other people have gone about it with different units and how black ones look with the rest of the champagne interior that sort of thing, I’m looking at a unit maybe like this one here in the picture. Thanks look forward to seeing some pics!
  13. Scoota: Mate have you tried either Repco or Bursons auto spares down in Hobart? Both of these are Authorised K&N dealer now they aren’t likely to keep much stock of K&N products especially for the Aurion but they could get hold of them or otherwise like DJKOR mentioned EBay is the other place you could get them from. I asked out Bursons Rep to get me a price on the SRI but I’m on holiday’s atm so haven’t spoke to him for a while now. Good luck.
  14. Mine is a 4/08 model and it just ticked over 35,000 the other day :)
  15. Hey Guys, i apologise if this has been asked and answered in the past but how many pre-out's does this unit have and is there a separate Sub out? Cheers and thanks
  16. haha i found this car on carsales a little while ago and saved a picture of its bonnet, it's an interesting look for the Aurion might look half ok on some colours. BUT looking at the pictures the scoops arent actually there like the VZ monaro are they? they look just painted black to give the illusion of scoops? if so then it's just tacky
  17. Guys, You can buy a kit very similer to this from Toyota now, it was designed to work for the LC200 Sahara model as it's Satnav system doesnt have a direct ipod Aux input like the rest of the 200 series range go figure, anyway it is very similer to the unit in the updated presara as it two had the same problem with having no aux input so you can buy this kit and fit it in your Aurion no probs :)
  18. Michael, yeah mate when the tech brought me over to have a look i said holy sh!t ddue you've broke my car lol, but you'd never know it has been touched now everything fits fine no creeks or anything better than new!
  19. Hey guys i know its old news as most people have had the dash rattle rectified but i thought I’d post these pics anyway, it may be of some interest for the people who are yet to have the problem fixed :D
  20. Hey Guys, i got my VVTi hose replaced today along with the dash and central console rattle fixed, i took a few pics of the car totally riped apart so will post them later for everybody to have a look at. They pretty much wreck the cars lol :S Also yes all the rubber hose p/n: 04009-33131 do have a yellow stripe on them, although the Tarago hose is slightly different.
  21. PARADIGM: Mate i did some research into the crystal vision globes today, i phoned Mainwaring auto electrical who are Phillips stockiest and they had never even heard of them surprise surprise, i even had to give them the part number of them off the website... anyway it turns out they have to come from Sydney and are around $60 each :)
  22. "The difference here is that you are going to lose some light output for the sake of getting a slightly different light output colour." Is this true? as both Narva and Phillips state claims like 50% brighter and beams 20 metres longer etc etc?
  23. Hey It sucks but the fog lamp globes in the Aurion’s are H11's therefore there is no globe in the 5000k Phillips Diamond vision range, the very best you can get is the 4300k crystal vision globes P/N:12362CV but these should still look better, brighter and whiter than the standard tungsten globes :)
  24. "I really don't mean any offence by this, but you can't even begin to describe the car as an Aurion. That would be like me saying Brett Stevens old Falcon doorslammers were the best in Australia..." This is correct but what track car actually has any relation what so ever to the road going model body aside? (&& to be fair thats hardly even the same these days espcially in this micro mini series..) i mean Jamie isn't about to win the V8SC title in a FG XR8 fresh from Broadmeadows production line is he now... If Ford and Holden can brag that Falcodore won this and that why can't any other car companies? ?
  25. Hey guys, My boss Adam Gowans has Dominated the final round at Phillip island of the Aussie racing series and claimed the Series win in his Eagle One/Gowans Toyota backed Aurion :D Congrats to Adam the team and Toyota on this series win. Check out the link below: http://www.aussieracingcars.com.au/news_44.htm Toyota Aurion, Be your own man - make your move hahaha sorry just had to :P
