  1. spotted last night on paco rd. http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=27747 nice car man. wanted to say hi coz u were at the lights but by the time we pulled up traffic lights changed and you took off really quick, so gutted I wasn't in the Aurion. Would have pulled have sped up to catch up but dads van is a gutless wonder.
  2. Dave, do you still apply the NXT wax with the wax attack buffer?
  3. to put it in simple terms. the features. the sx6 is like an atx with a body kit and suspension package. the zr6 is like the prodigy (leather seats, parking sensors, etc) but with start button and of course the suspension package.
  4. Don't bother reading my ride thread then. Ever heard of the saying 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'? Well, I'd rather not change something that is already working fine. It's good that yours is all running like normal now, but it doesn't exactly mean your ECU is better than the first revision. Umm relax relax i was only making a suggestion. If i knew why you couldnt look i wouldnt ask. Its not like i keep full tabs on your car thread.
  5. +1 for the weird revving. Thats top stuff man. What time did you go there?
  6. Wow, jealous much +1 for the envy. It's like a home version of the Toyota workshop right down to the grey painted cement But I'm the same as you. My back yard has a very big covered area (veranda I think its called?) and I park my car under there, do all my washes, waxes etc then she gets parked in the remote garage away from all elements. I'm surprised to actually read that a lot of guys here have to park outside. A lot of guys here also love to clean there car but that must suck if you need to keep it outside then. All that work for nothing :S
  7. I can't comment on the mods but would like to say welcome to TOCA and its good to see another Melbourne Aurion on the boards! Nice ride man, your very gutsy to get a black :P
  8. :P to you cause I had the older on on my Sportivo (can't confirm the TRD but it probably has the older one as well) and had/have no problems. Hahaha :). Why can't you confirm on your TRD? Why don't you get it changed anyway? It won't hurt, if anything it will be an improvement even if you can't feel anything... yet. I know I'm saying this heaps now but ever since changing the TCU my love for the Aurion has been rekindled. Those threads about me selling it were because of the gear changes because driving the car felt like such a burden. When it would lag to change gears it would make driving feel like a chore because everything felt rough and out of synch. Now with the quick swift changes, and from gear two to three its like a transmission does not even exist. It just changes like butter, bloody amazing.
  9. My new one says V2 9 whilst yours is 8. Hmm. I guess I have the newer one :P
  10. Go look at your TCU and see if it has V2 at the end. If it doesn't you should go to Toyota to get it replaced. Just say I experience flaring, gear changes lag and sometimes jump when changing gears. ... then the dealer will get you to reproduce it. If you get it done for the heck of it (ie cheating the system), when you have no problem, Toyota will know when production changes (you don't know if its more than the V2 ECU) were made and if your vehicle could have this issue. If it's not possible, then it will be you or the dealer paying. I have never had to reproduce a fault in my car to the dealer. It's always been "We'll look at it" and I come back after they call me and they say such and such is wrong OR I tell them if warranty will not cover and there IS a fault give me a ring to talk to me about the job at hand and how much $$ and if I would like to go through with the work(This has never happened though, warranty has always covered everything) It you have warranty if won't kill to get Toyota to test it out for you if you don't know what flaring is. It isn't going to cost you anything.
  11. You guys are pretty gutsy to keep your cars out in the elements. I could never do that
  12. Alright I had a read of your blog. Interesting observations you made there, I guess it would feel weird after driving a 100% ICE vehicle all your life then coming to electricity :P.
  13. Go look at your TCU and see if it has V2 at the end. If it doesn't you should go to Toyota to get it replaced. Just say I experience flaring, gear changes lag and sometimes jump when changing gears.
  14. I washed, clayed polished waxed, tyre shined the Aurion, and gave the inside a deep clean. Oh my god, after 2 weeks of being in absolute filth from the mud and rain she looks so amazing. After cleaning it I took it for a cruise to have my honeymoon period after washing it. It just feels so damn good, in conjunction with my new TCU the car is bloody perfect. So glad I got an Aurion. I can't believe I was thinking of selling it. :o edit: I gotta head off somewhere now quickly. I'll read your blog when I come back DJKOR. Interested to see your thoughts on the camryhybrid :)
  15. or you just had a dodgy setup to begin with and now you are feeling what a normal Aurion feels like This edit: does anyone know where the comp is located? small black box under battery base, the replacement unit has "V2" on the top. Awesome thanks for clarifying this for me. Yep mine is V2 so its definitely been changed. Seriously, gear changing is perfect now. No more flaring and lagging gear changes when accelerating slow off the mark.
  16. It's alright but it needs to look more like an Aurion IMO. Maybe the Aurion logo or Toyota logo or the car on a different angle?
  17. Was just wondering where most people keep there Toyotas? Are they mainly parked inside a fully enclosed garage, partially open drive way or completely open driveway/parked on the road in front of house. For me, I park inside a fully enclosed two car garage. One side for dad and me. What about you?
  18. That is gangster. You must love the attention "head turners". :P edit: I'm loving your black on black thing going on man. One word, CLASS.
  19. Damn... you have driven it very far Hey its a Toyota, the engine is just opening up :P
  20. [edit] Nice wheels man.
  21. I'm not going to mention is because my method isn't something I would recommend to anyone. It won't 'chew' the threads. There is only so tight that it can go and the threads are pretty beefy (as can be seen in the attached image), but even thought it can only be tightened so much, it can still be that tight that you may not be able to remove it without leverage. Ahh yeah, I see. Fair enough mate, thanks :D
  22. Depending who last serviced your car, if you don't have the oil filter wrench, removing it can be difficult. Some people still use the rule of thumb of tightening it to a Hulk grip. I don't actually have the cap-style oil filter wrench, but I still use a (unnamed tool) to remove mine due to how tight mechanics tend to do them up. Unnamed tool? Is it s secret or there's really no name for it? They better not have done the hulks grip unless they want to buy me new parts for chewing threads.
  23. Mate if you dont want to purchase the filter housing removal tool all you do is have your drain pan under the filter location to catch the excess oil and grasp the filter housing and turn it anti-clockwise as it only threaded on, and unscrew it a couple of turns in which oil will start to dribble out, leave it for a few minutes until it stops and then very carefully keep the filter housing level while you fully unscrew it and lower it down and drain it in your oil tray, every thing else you need to know and do is in your new filter box including new O rings. Once you,ve done it you will wonder what all the fuss is about. By the way when you reinstall the filter housing with the new element in it,unlike a spin on filter you dont tighten it an extra 3/4 of a turn after it contacts the base, just nip it up.Once again the torque setting is on the box (instuctions ).Haggle with Toyota as the price can be as much as $10 different between dealers for the filter.By the way it holds 6.1 litres with filter change Oh okay, thats much better to know I don't need to by the little tool.
