  1. yeah i only park there temporarily while i wash the car, most of the other times its parked inside my garage ;) Oh okay. Fair enough :)
  2. Should the transmission filter be replaced? Should I supply my own oil and filter? (If he does not have stock I'm thinking of quickly popping by the dealer and getting oil and filter), I heard that almost half of the oil is in the toque converter and some mechanics don't bother to flush the rest out of this, is it wise to ask for him to do it properly by flushing it out from there as well? Any other things I should note/know before I do this service? Thanks :)
  3. Yesterday I had a big day. But in the morning I dropped my baby to the dealer and got the aircon treatment done. It no longer smells like crap now and no more fogging up! Really happy with this service. At the same time they replaced the light bulb in my T-bar AND they replaced the light that lights up the black part at the gear changer. It's no longer a green colour but like the colour of a torch. It looks very nice and less dodgy instead of that ugly green light. This was done free of charge! Also, I never told them but they must have fixed the squeak when I would change gears. The gear lever squeaked a bit. They must have picked up on it when changing the light bulb and taking the centre console off. No more squeak from that now. Very happy with everything, I think I'm in love with my car. knock on wood she is 99% PERFECT. More better then when out of the factory! the only 1% I'll get the transmission flushed.
  4. Huge thumbs up to you mate. Thanks for the review! I love how your such a fanatic with cleanliness of your car. You never disappoint with the shine. Edit: I can't help but notice that there is a tree right next to your car! I never ever park my car near a tree. The crap that comes off them contaminates the paint like glue!
  5. Thanks a mill guys, not in a million years would I have known what those were for. All four of mine were missing so I plugged them all up. http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/8981/dscn2849f.jpg http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/8132/dscn2850x.jpg :D
  6. Highly highly doubt it. All of this would have rectified by the engineers.
  7. then I guess the supercharger doesn't do much then. Hahaha. Loved this part, well said
  8. When I bought my car these were in my glove box and I was meant to ask you guys what they were but I forgot all about it until I found it in my drawer. http://img185.imageshack.us/img185/9185/dscn2846.jpg http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/3028/dscn2848.jpg http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/7600/dscn2847.jpg
  9. I highly doubt this has anything to do with the parking lock pawl. It's more to do with the transmission engaging/disengaging which is separate to that. As well, this has occurred in neutral as well where the parking mechanism is completely out of the question. Oh yeah, thats true. My bad.
  10. Alright thanks for all the help davo and djkor. I seriously appreciate it heaps!! :)
  11. Damn, I thought I could have gotten away with it! I don't need to invest in a bonnet. My dad has an old van that he drives around that I can practice till hearts content What if I were to put some of the megs buffers on it like the W8006? Edit: Yeah djkor, it is a rotary.
  12. Firstly, I wouldn't say the revs are too high. It only start off higher than usual for around 30 seconds on average, and that's on a cold start. I wouldn't be worried about that. Secondly, I doubt engine oil has any part in this. The issue here appears to be coming from the transmission. Now automatic transmissions aren't my thing, so I really don't know what may or may not be engaging when it should/shouldn't. Thats interesting mate. Could it be that our pins are becoming dodgy? Because remember how the park brake is designed in these Aurions? No matter how much force you apply on the park brake the car will always roll back. I've taken your advice from the other thread and when parked on a incline/decline, put it on neutral, then apply park brake then throw it in park. And this definitely stops the car from rolling back and also changing the gear from park to reverse changes without having to yank it and without a big scary clunk.
  13. Sounds to me like you p!ssed her off when you said that you were considering selling her . That's going to be interesting to try and get Toyota to replicate. hahaha, I think I did ***** her off :P. Seriously I doubt I will EVER be able to replicate this. Do you think it has something to do with rev's too high on cold start up? Seriously on a cold engine these Aurions are louudd like a lawn mower. I wonder if it has anything to do with the engine oil.
  14. Did anyone watch the Street Customs (West cost customs guys) on foxtel? For the Sema car show they modified like 5 Toyota's, prius, rukus, camry, etc. The camry was hot!!
  15. When you use the new megs wash report back! I've heard good stuff about that and as soon as my amorall wash and wax runs out I'm buying that. Are you talking about this? http://www.superchea...=104050#details The car wash you have listed is Meguiar's NXT Car Wash Meguiar's Ultimate Wash and Wax on Super Cheap Auto Website. Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash on Super Cheap Auto. And the all the car washes on Meguiar's Edit; Dave: Gold Class™ Carnauba Plus Premium Liquid Wax has been spotted at BigW for $29.98 as of last weekend. Oh! It's the yellow bottle. I completely missed that one. Choices choices choices, there is wash and wax, nxt and gold. Which one I'm a bit disappointed that I need to use claybar on my next wash because it's going to strip the car naked and I need to reapply everything again. Next wash is going to be, wash, claybar, swirlx X 2 and then mothers wax. Is this does not remove the swirls I'm going to push the car over a cliff because I don't want to break my back doing all that only to find out it has done nothing... again
  16. It just done it again today from a cold start! What the. It sounds like something like thick metal hits the engine and it causes it to surge forward. Its like a split second thing but it's very noticeable. It's weird because it never used to do this but only now its doing it and its the second time
  17. that make sense. But why is it only making noise when I reverse the car first and drive forward (eg reverse from garage, reverse from car space) not when I select drive straight away after I start the car? This exact same thing happens to me. Have to reverse first, then forward to get the "clunk". The longer the reverse distance, the louder the "clunk". (seems like this to me anyway... the volume is always different) If it's ABS self check, why does it only "clunk" when the car start moving forward? Shouldn't I hear the "clunk" even when the car is stationary? I have been to the service department to check it. But they said they heard nothing. It's normal mate. Have you ever been on a plane? If you have, as soon as the plane takes off the landing gear starts coming in and every time it fully folds in you can hear the loud clunk noise as the tyre comes in and the lid closes. Mine sounds exactly like this. I guess Toyota made it so it does it within the first few seconds of driving forward is because chances are you won't be using your brakes but when reversing you usually have them applied the whole time, but thats totally a wild guess. Nothing to be afraid of. In fact, if it was not making the noise from time to time you should be afraid because that means something is wrong!
  18. Hmm, alright thanks for the reply djk. I called Toyota and booked my car in for 11am tomorrow. Will be getting the service and my T-bar light checked out. Last time they said they fixed it but it still does not work and I always gotta tap it again for the light to turn on. I told the lady to write down few notes about how the system smells and what it does etc so yeah. All will be seen Tomorrow after the Toyota guys diagnose the problem. I'm finally fed up with this crap though because I was out with a mate few nights ago and the heater smelt kinda bad and it kept fogging up my windows from the wet heat even though the system is on re-circulate, even on fresh it does the same. bah!!
  19. I was thinking. When you have the aircon running and then you then park the car. Does your aurion have a water patch under the car so it can let the water out of the drain? Because i have never seen water so i think its blocked. I called the dealer and they wanted $105 to service it and have a look at the system.
  20. not really, with swirlX, if you read the back of the bottle it utilizes diminishing abrasive technology... the technology acctuallt starts out as a very gentle abrasive to level out the swirls, then reduces into a polishing compound to leave the surface ready for your wax... i only even follow it with M07 polish if im feeling in the mood, as i dont think it reaps a huge amount of noticable difference... ill probbaly only use the M07 polish two or three times a year... better off using swirlx until you get your surface nice and clear, then seal it with your wax. no need to potentialy introduce more swirls with the polish step when swirlx already takes care of it. hope that helps. btw off topic here, but i just picked up some meguiars ultimate wash and wax today... am trying out a new weekly regime... monday - wash with gold class, layer on a wax of my choice (either nxt or gold class plus) thursday - Wash with meguiars ultimate wash and wax winter time sucks for car washing :( Oh okay. Cool. Just time I'll just go through with swirlx more then once. When you use the new megs wash report back! I've heard good stuff about that and as soon as my amorall wash and wax runs out I'm buying that. Are you talking about this? http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Meguiar%E2%80%99s-Nxt-Generation-Car-Wash-1-89-Litre.aspx?pid=104050#details
  21. I looked at http://www.drivenbyshine.com.au/, I cannot stop looking at the car's on that site. So so hot. But he wants MINIMUM $700 for "pain correction". Before I got this buffer I done it by hand with the megs applicator pads. At first I was enthusiastic to do it but after I started getting tired and went a bit sloppy. The buffer seriously made a world of a difference. Something that would take me ages to do by buffing by hand the buffer done in a matter of minutes.
  22. It's alright mate. Don't be worried. Just no pressure on the scraper and go nice and easy, let it do the work for you. But by no pressure I don't mean light as a feather but just enough pressure to get the paint to start scraping off. Something like this: http://www.drillspot.com/pimages/448/44809_300.jpg can give you an example on how much angle you would need. I've got like three of these in my garage: http://sunxwindowtintsupply.com/images/triumph-6in-scraper.jpg so if yours is straight like that just lean it against the window and tilt it up a bit. Seriously this is getting too technical just for scraping windows
  23. 2 -3 passes? Hmm, I just done one pass. The first pass took me two hours. I then had to go straight to wax because that was another two hours and it was getting dark or else I think I wanted to do another pass of swirlx. How can I expand my detailing throughout each day? Doesn't the car just pick up dirt and dust, how am I suppose to detail it then or am I expected to wash it every single day I need to buy a clay though, the car surface as those little brown/red spots again. I have no clue where they come from as I park no where near a tree and always avoid parking near trees(sap is the worst). So davo, should I (after claying) go over with swirlx couple of times next time? I heard that after swirlx to go through with a polish THEN wax?
  24. I'm not really into these cars. Not sure why but was never in the scene for it.
