  1. looks awesome dan! i would of liked a blue one hehe, but red looks hot. i have a couple of questions question. with the piece of silicon/rubber that joins the pipe to the throttle body, having secured it, with those metal braclets on each side, would u assume that it is 100% secure, or should u check it from time to time? 1) i noticed since the throttle body is larger than the pipe, one end is stretched (the TB end) and u know how stuff expands and contract in heat and cold, is there any chance it would come off? or start slipping off with time? 2) my CAI sits just behind the fog lamp, as shown in diagram 1.1 opps it doesnt sit that low. the pipe just bends enuff to squeeze the pod in above the foggie. i noticed after a drive in heavy rain, that the pods heatshield had a few droplets of water on it, i rekon it came thru where the opening for the towing hook lies. i remember someone saying if u get water in there, your stuffed. was wondering how u guys positioned your pods' or made the area more water proof. thanks in advanced ;)
  2. hey guys, i wanted to paint my calipers this week sometime, was wondering, which 'red' is dark red, like same as the brakes found on type-rs? i dont want that reddish red like in the post above. i want a deep red. if that makes sense :P a brand and exact color name would be excellent, thanks in advanced. .
  3. hey all, i was ringing up my service center (nunawading) and inquiring about the gear selector cable fix, the service guy wasnt aware of much, but was aware of the rumors going around, so he gave a call to toyota to see wot was going on. he got back to me and confirmed wot peekay posted. dealers/service centers have been supplied parts (ecu, intake) and have been installing them on new cars. also i think they may have a fix for the notchy gear box as well as the rattles, as he said in about a months time, we will recieve letters asking us to come in, so they can fix the power issue + gear box issues. he also recommended to me that i not install my CAI as of yet, and wait for the recall. also, i asked about warranty issues involiving the CAI, he said he cant see why its a problem, to be sure, bring it in, let them have a look, document it, and u should be covered.
  4. good idea to get the car dyno'ed before the recall ;) sorry wont be able to make it guys, as i got work 7am-noon, and then the rest of the day is catching up with uni work. full time work and uni dont mix well.
  5. part time student, doing my masters while working for the IT department @uni
  6. looks great =) all u need to do is stack on the tyre shine! cant wait to see the after lowering pics :)
  7. hey xoom, did u have to notify them very early before your service so they could order the parts so it would be avaliable when u go in for your service? or can u just rock up and ask for the fix on the service day? my 20,000/12 month service is due in about 2-3 weeks.
  8. ////// red line starts here ///// red line ends here <----- needle is here 'oh s.h.i.t' indeed.
  9. was digging around on the net, and found these. i want an apexi! :D it makes that mid range hole, into a mountain!
  10. its funny ive just noticed, some of the advertisements are dependant on the words in the thread, hence the one above about 'jobs in Wollongong' 'hotels in Wollongong' etc. hehe
  11. i was not targetting anyone, i was speaking in general, like i stated above, 'im not having a go at anyone' and as for 'your comment is not required' what is that supposed to mean? this is a forum isnt it? i am posting my views on the whole situation in a non-aggressive manner, if anything it would be fustration at this thread being here in the first place, and if i thought it was not going to be productive, then i would of kept it to myself. i was stating, people are going to bug you about your mods, and they are going to be disappointed if you fail to provide information/answers.
  12. my 2 cents, flame if u want, but im not trying to have a go at anyone my point: if u put a BIG post that u just did this mod. ppl are gonna want desert and ask for resutls and other stuff. and if u dont wanna follow-up then dont post about your mods. its just like when people say 'i have a secret' and dont tell u wot it is. its annoying. no **** people are gonna get p.i.s.s.e.d off. <_< so if you cant deal with people wanting dyno sheets, time slips, drag, benchtest, etc, then dont post about your mods. its really simple as that. keep your mods to yourself, or be prepared to share.
  13. awesome result northy ;) give us another after CAI
  14. trd_141 and i would vouch for nunawading(melb) toyota. they have the newest/biggest service centre ive seen, and have all ways resolved any queries ive had with the car very quickly. i've had no complaints at all.
  15. shouldnt the figure go up considerabely when you get your sexy AEM CAI *jealous*, or do u think the gains will be minor? u can give e-gene a chance for a rematch!
  16. i dont know where Gong is (how far is that from adelaide) anyhow welcome to the forum Blue_Sportivo_VVTLi :)
  17. wow 11 sportivos! awesome! wot else did u guys do? wish i could of made it that is a pretty sight! i just printed off a few copies of peckers pic above with our URL plastered on it, gonna keep em in the car, so i can whack it on any sportivos i see i wonder, is there any chance of getting some sort of banner on this forum, perhaps a cropped version of the picture above?
  18. hey guys some unexpected stuff came up with the car, will show the scratches to prove it! (just some minor damage on the front skirt) gotta get that sorted out tomorrow, got the car booked in tomorrow morning at 10am, not sure how long it will be there for, or if it will get fixed. cant postpone bcause i have no time in the next 2 week's, working everyday. sorry to bug out on the big cruise, esp to sport1vo. appreciate the effort gone to organisng it, will see all you boys soon, with a few more extra kw's too! hope the weather holds up, take heaps of photos. cheers -rich
  19. good work guys. nice pics, only 2? how much did grimlock beat u by? fear the supercharged!
  20. thanks for the article, the only bit i really got was "It is better to make torque at high rpm than at low rpm, because you can take advantage of gearing" :-) the article reminded me of physics class, i couldnt get my head around all the different metrics. go the 2ZZ-GE! btw i bounced off the rev limiter for the first time today because some lady in AWD subaru liberty who wouldnt let me me merge (and it does shift better after u do it, tho i didnt do it on purpose, for a second i thought was in takumi's 86 and i had another 2000rpms to play with lol ) question. does the 2zz-ge cut out completely, or can u keep slamming it against the limiter.
  21. a friend of mine has one on his levin, he paid about $3-400ish (i cant remember the price) for it, and got it in overseas (ether in HK or singapore) it looks real nice, and has the TRD badge on it, which isnt just stuck on like a sticker, but has two screws that poke through your grill, and is bolted on. why dont you ask bruce from TRD, i'm pretty sure he sources them, because ive asked him about the TRD badges, unfortuantely he doesnt sell them separate from the grill <_<
  22. :o hope both you guys get your cars sorted out. i'm itching to hear about a rematch =) grimlock i hope toyota fix it for you, keep us informed.
