  1. Zee's got a point. The car industry is starting (just) to come around with Hybrid, Hydrogen tech as well as the new generation of efficient common rail High Pressure direct injection turbo diesels. But it will be a slow and painful process of changing the vehicles the worlds population likes to drive, look at the stars of the Detroit show... -Gen IV Chevrolet Camaro -Hemi Dodge Challenger -6.0 V12 Lamborghini Muira concept The only way things will really change in terms of cars we drive is if Fuel prices increase dramatically higher than what they are. Now turn those lights off you're not using in the home or office, turn off your pc/tv when not using it, and open a few windows instead of the aircon. :D
  2. One reason is that sales, although they've been good, are very quickly tapering off. More importantly, though, Holden will be spending the next few months ramping up production of the new VE Commodore, so they need all the space they can get on the production line while still keeping other higher volume customers (ute, wagon, Statesman) happy. Also, it's good to stop producing a model when it has a good reputation, it brings a desireable image to the company rather than stop producing it simply because no-one is buying anymore. The real reason is economics. The stamping equipment Holden purchased 2nd hand from Canada to produce the Monaro specific panels were never intended to be used for high volume long term production, if a new model is to be introduced, this costly equipment would need replacement, and given almost 1 billion has gone into VE development, they're not looking at spending money on loss leader niche models at this point in time. A Monaro replacement will come along, but it won't be named Monaro and is not expected for at least a couple of years.
  3. I would go the darker ones, then paint your calipers silver or yellow to set it all off.
  4. It's normal, This piece of plastic serves no function except to keep stones and other things from hitting the engine from below, so it's not cut or made to look pretty. It's out of sight so it's rough as guts and cheap as chips.
  5. As a money saving initiative manufacturers produce common parts for different models. As this sump guard may be used on different toyota models, they drill all the holes that are possibally needed when the part is made and then simply use the holes they need on a particular model. Completely normal.
  6. Ferrari 360 You've got it all. Power, passion, precision, and style. You're sensuous, exotic, and temperamental. Sure, you're expensive and high-maintenance, but you're worth it. But doing it with honest answers... I'm a Honda S2000 You live on the edge, and you live for the adrenaline rush. You don't need luxuries, snob appeal, or superfluous gadgets. You put your top down, get your motor revving, and take all the curves that life throws at you at full speed. So what if you spin out occasionally
  7. And that's what it's about, it doesn't matter who wins as long as you've had fun in the process and practiced your skills at the right place (On the track). If you do win it's just a bonus and bragging rights :D Good Luck, have fun. ;)
  8. SSSSSHHHHHHH..... we dont want everyone knowing the ultimate performance secrets :P Well after I put mine in I got wheel spin in 4th gear :D Just increadible!. Yes seriously, a tiny bit smoother after 4000rpm, a tiny bit easier on the juice, but 2zz's already come irridium plugs.
  9. My car always runs better after a long drive on highways. I've picked up more stone chips in suburbia than on open highways
  10. Another thing to consider and factor in is the fact the GTi is endowed with a superior chassis. Not only does this mean better cornering, but importantly for this thread, much better straight line traction.
  11. I think you'll find it's a temporary thing. Also you'll find they will still produce a sport variant of every model as part of their sales strategy to be the no.1 selling automotive brand world-wide. At the moment they're concentrating on model consolidation so that they can build up better economies of scales. World-wide, they have too many models at present.
  12. It's not exactly endowed with huge brakes, so if you're trying to impress others in the twisties in the wet, it's just a bit silly... If you were going in the opposite direction, you would've ended up on the wrong side of the road and possibly hit another car. Just count your lucky stars there was a guard rail to hit on this occassion. Sorry about the car, but lucky not to get hurt.
  13. I'm using the NGK's now. They run fine, picked them up at Supercheap for $76.00
  14. They look neat. Wheels with a dark center and polished rim is THE new look. The more dish you can get, the better.
  15. I've found octane boost to be good when you've filled up with a tank full of bad fuel, but I've found adding it to good fuel doesn't bring any difference so 98 octane users shouldn't bother. 94/95 octane users would see a difference as it normally brings you up to around 98 octane. My regular mechanic is a specialist injector cleaner. There's only one way to clean injectors and it doesn't come in a bottle. If the car feels better after adding injector cleaner products to your fuel, it's usually because it contains octane boost as well.
  16. You guys are making such a big deal of the GTI. Think about this, it weight near as 1400kgs. Where sportivo is just over 1200. It only has 6 more kw's and the advantage of it is the awd. It's normal for the GTI to have torque way below the revs. Theres vtec controllers for all honda vtec engines and that's the kind of electric unit that sportivo owners need to add on their tuning list. Just like those vtec controllers, theirs ones for vvtl-i engines. Which brings down the torque entry level to a much lower rpm level. (Just like GTI). As long as sportivo hit's the torque at around 2000rpm towards 2500, gti has no chance. :) It's only one touch up modification, but it's something toyota has left us to do.
  17. It's gona weigh heaps, I doubt it's gona be a performance machine, more of a typical marketing ploy to compete against kW numbers. Remember that's the same output as the similar size/weight Falcodores and 380 so it will only be on par with those vehicles in terms of performance, it's certainly no V8 eater.
  18. Going to charity though so it's all good, but goes to show some people do have too much money
  19. After having driven one, I'm sorry to say, you're most likely to get spanked.

To make things run smoothly (We need to as we have so many participants) we need divide RWD and FWD drive cars and decide on which configuration will be going first (As the Dyno set up needs to be shuffled around for either configuration) Last time the only RWD was the Triumph and it went last, Given we have 7 confirmed RWD's so far do we want them to go first this time around? We need to advise so these people know when to turn up.
  21. Well my Warranty expires end of this month and I've only covered 30,000km Purchased Feb 03
  22. I spotted it one weekend recently (Definetely the car because of the Rego), but not driven by Peekay, it was someone much younger ( And Skinnier :P ) and their blonde girlfriend...
