  1. Hey buddy, What grade motor oil is in the engine at the moment. I've noticed that running thicker oil gives it a subtle ticking noise when warmed up, though not the case when its cold. I had a falcon and knew what they sounded when they were warming up. Try running a grade 30 oil, it should help since it lubricates all the components better. Running thicker oil is know to make the engine quieter, but creates the vvt-i ticking noise in the sportivos.
  2. wtf? Now that's some fishy business they're conducting there. Why would they wind the odometer back to the number at which their papers state without any reason. And having such discrepancy gets me wondering was the odometer originally at 52k km or 46k km?
  3. Many factors affect the price of a certain asset according to the condition it presents and how it has been used. With cars, the price is determined by its conditions in the exteriors and interior, as well as how many km's it has clocked. Since your Aurion has only clocked around 35000km, over close to 4 years (around 10000km per year), I would expect it to sell at a higher price in both a private sale and a trade-in compared to similar models with higher km's. In many cases, cars with lower km's sell for a higher price compared to similar models with higher km's.
  4. Want used? Try the wreckers for Prodigy or Presara seats if looking for luxurious feel, other the Sportivo zr6 seats for that sporty feel. Want new? try your luck with a Toyota dealer who will most likely rip you off.
  5. Lemans Toyota Tottenham? If so, I bought my car from their dealership when they were still down the road at Footscray, and they were pretty good. Probably because I negotiated with their sales manager, I don't know. Their service was sub-standard, which has marginally improved recently when I got my Aurion serviced there.
  6. Why a rating of 95 when the Aurion, which is heavier than a Camry, only requires 93 and above on either tyre size. The tyre size you're looking for usually comes in 93 or 94 load rating.
  7. I tried to hook up my iPhone via the USB to try it out to no avail. It seems iPod of iPhone connectivity is only via the aux port or bluetooth.
  8. The zenon lights were available only for the Presara models in the first-generation. The Sat Nav was standard for the Presara, however was a complementary option with the moonroof for the first-gen Sportivo ZR6.
  9. yes, pre-facelift models where the TRD falls into were built from the end of '06 to the start of September '09. Therefore a door from an '07 model will definitely fit.
  10. The problem with lowering a car in Victoria is that the ground clearance can not be lower than 10cm. The Aurion as far as I'm aware has a ground clearance of 10.5cm already give or take depending on the variance in wheel and tyre sizes, hence the car can only be lower another 5mm which logically isn't much of a change.
  11. Mine did that from the day I got it out of the dealer with delivery km's. Therefore, I assume it's a flaw that Toyota did with most if not every car it produced in its production line.
  12. The horn is situated behind the whole center cap on the steering wheel. If nothing occurs once you push it, then something's wrong.
  13. Someone please get rid of this idiot above me...I'm a little heavy footed, therefore I'm lucky if I'm getting 14-15 ltrs/100km.
  14. I'm aware the new Aurion zr6 comes with a JBL system that's equipped with 10 speakers. This should mean there's 2 tweeters on the dash, 2 speakers on the front doors, 2 on the rears, 3 on the rear parcel shelf and a subwoofer. This means that there needs to be right rear speaker.
  15. It should be only a minor issue, considering the finish looks fine. the dealer probably gave it a cut and polish with a harsh abrasive polish. this is based on recent experience with having my panels repaired and having them leave a rough paint finsih after they cut and polished it. You might want to bring it back to the place you bought it from to see what they say. Otherwise, a pass of a light polish should erase any rough spots which should make the finish much smoother. It should work because it worked for me when i did after i brought it home after repairs. In short, many people in dealers and body repairs are average at detailing.
  16. Since you're not at fault, and the other party lodges a claim throught their insurance, you have the advantage of going to whichever repairer you desire. I was recently involved in the exact same situation, and I was free to bring the car anywhere I want. As long as it's not through your insurance, it's not a hassle. If it's just damage to the rear bumper along with some internal damage, then the bumper will be replaced along with repairing and repainting the chassis. I'd suspect that that's the first resort the insurance will pursue since the car is practically still brand new, and the reapirs will be below the cost of replacing the car itself.
  17. Many cars have now reached close to 200,000km on the odometer, and yet I'd suspect that they're still running fine. A bloke on this forum recently sold his which had around 300,000km. As long as maintenance on the vehicle is kept to schedule, the car should be fine. Therefore, check the service history before purchasing. Considering the engine is built by Toyota, and the fact that it's been used in its luxury brand Lexus, I doubt they are going to produce major problems unless they're in the hands of a total idiot.
  18. What are you talking about? Just because some variants have sanav and/or a moonroof, doesn't mean they built his/her car wrong. if you didn't pay attention to the above posts, satnav and moonroofs are both factory options. Mine was built the year before, where i demanded a moonroof which incurred $1800, with a satnav it is $5000 which I wasn't willing to pay. All in all, your zr6 which falls into the pre-facelift range isn't any different to the facelifted zr6 in terms of options.
  19. i think this should be over on the 'camry' section.
  20. the recommened tyre size for 19" wheels on an aurion is 245/35/19, and you've got that at the rears. the fronts would therefore be a little smaller than recommended. usually, if you want the fronts to be the same as the backs in terms of tyre size whilst achieving a staggered fitment, the general rule would be to follow the principle that a change of a 5 in the aspect ratio constitutes to a change of 20mm in the tyre width. so my suggestion would be to have 245/35/19 at the front and 265/30 at the back if you aim for the sizes to be almost identical. the 265 at the rears would obviously fit on a 9.5 wide wheel better than 245. i would think the TCS would be compromised too much, since the rears are providing more grip, as for the speedo reading, the 245 front tyre which is on a TRD would be close to 215/55/17 and 215/60/16.
  21. the dealer i went to last time used 15w40 for some reason, whilst this dealer i went to recently poured in 10w30. as i've stated above, the grinding sound and vibration didn't occur whilst the engine was on 15w40 oil. your theory is valid, and i am unanimous with it by all means, however for some reason the situation doesn't seem right.
  22. recently occured to mine. it occured about 3000k after its service. where i switched from a dealer that used 15w40 oil to 10w30. i'm gessing that oil does pay a factor in this problem, since the problem never arose prior to the recent service. luckily it has only occured once since, and it has been 2 weeks or so.
  23. i'm looking to buy a 2004 facelifted corolla ascent with around 55000km on the clock. the owner's asking $8200 including RWC, plus mag wheels which is a bonus. i'd like to know whether it's a good price or not.

    1. Rukus Son

      Rukus Son

it depends on weather they have Kept up the regular Servicing & all of that, i believe it is a good Price & 55000 on the Clock is pretty low for a 2004 Corolla, i guess they didn't do much driving. Yep the Mags are definitely a Bonus, what did you decide since this was nearly over a year ago would love to know. :)
