  1. For the budget end of the spectrum I think a good shock and spring would be sufficient....
  2. Labour is mostly around ($350-$400)...machining flywheel (must be done) another $50, new flywheel bolts (do not reuse old ones) $30, synthetic gear oil $50-$100.... I got quoted $400 installed plus machining flywheel with new bolts and they use castrol gear oil, which I'll be replacing with something synthetic of my choice
  3. Spam! Pepper spray FTW! Alot of people with issues out there that need to be sorted out... Best to avoid people like that and keep a set of tools handy with you so that you can 'fix' any damage...
  4. I though the CES exhaust systems would be legal and under the 90db level? Unless the hi-flow cat is a not from CES? Maybe they changed the testing method on exhaust sound emission?
  5. How does your initial baseline run look like before you added the PFC? How many hours was the tuning session? Tuning in 3rd gear? What was the ramping rate of the dyno? Did he take it out on the road to finalise the tune? New redline?
  6. I think you've listed most of the problems, also the A/C not working is another one. SD's harness is the way to go I reckon, I got mine wired in though, harness was not avaliable back then. Off topic, any news on your rebuilt head?
  7. In terms of peak power, I got similar values to you, but with the headers must be easier to drive everyday. As SD has said a little bit lean downlow more power and torque to be had down there. You should be gaining around 10kw but don't let the numbers get to you.
  8. You better post the results as soon as you get them!! With the dyno up top, what mods (if any) were on the car? Whats changed with the latest mod? P&P, Cams etc??
  9. I got my springs reset so that the car is slightly more level. Cost me $70 for the reset for the rear springs.
  10. Still collecting...

  11. I think Superdave has the PPE header in the corolla, also need a new midpipe (incl cat). Stock ported manifold is good too, but if your chasing for mid - high end extra power then its the PPE's for sure.
  12. Got a bit excited there for a moment Bill?? lol
  13. Does the tapping noise disappear after warming up? Does it increase in sounds as the revs go up?? Noisy tappet? rockers? tensioner pulley (think thats what its called?) But best bet is to get it checked out by the dealer that you bought the car off With regards to the power, you could've simply gotten use to it....my car feels like it takes forever as well...although passengers beg to differ....
  14. Looking forward to the results, how much do you think its going to cost?
  15. I think there is someone running 13s in a celica over on new celica on a 9.5K setup. He mentioned that pretty much everything had to be balanced (Crank, Pistons rods, everything...), all the things connected to the crank, so that would include ancillaries as well. Also at those RPMS, the DD performance intake manifold would be what you want to look into as well.
  16. The facelift version does not fit properly on the pre facelift corollas, I couldn't bother returning my one so I 'modded' it a little. Cost me $70 at the wreckers
  17. I am thinking of using an IHI turbo, one of the vF series, leaning towards a VF24 I think. But maybw I'll get a VF34 to dummy fit it all in to place. If its a garett then definitely a GT28RS
  18. not me ...... lol ..... yeah but like we have just discussed it comes at a cost ....... u'll obviously just be limited by how much boost and power u can run without cracking it open ..... wat are u aiming for bcuz it might just be fine depending on ur goals ? Well I'm just hoping for maybe a 30-40kw boost at the wheels, so bring it up to around about 150-160kwkw. I reckon that could be easily achieved at low boost level of around 6psi which should be ok. The ppl over at newcelica are saying that 10psi is the upper limit, does come down to the tuning of course. If I wanted more power, I'll start modding the forester instead
  19. A more sensible person would of traded to a better car, but who wants to be sensible anyway.. I'm trying to go down the path of not opening an engine..don't want to know the cost...
  20. so practically a whole turbo kit ...... lol ...... so wat were u thinking with regards to a turbo ? seriously i think an old rexy turbo would do the job or even a GT28RS ..... as ur not gonna crack the engine open r u ? I'm thinking maybe try a VF34, cause if it doesn't work I can bolt it onto the forester :D No valid excuse to crack open the engine just quite yet Also being a new father doesn't help lol
  21. Unfortunately the reason why you are modding it is the reason why it would be bloody expensive, I remember last time a shelled out one was asking for about $500 but that included some rx7 brake calipers ( think everything else was missing from the car though... Takumi tax anyone....
