  1. The TB for the Q45 indeed is 90mm, standard TB size on the sportivo is 63mm I think. Yeah all the other associated cost easliy blows this mod to over $2000. Not to mention, with a CAI you'll be maxing out the stock injectors. So for this mod to work with most common bolt ons Relocation of coolant tank Possible slimline radiator Engine mounts(??) 440cc injectors if you have CAI and Exhaust which most people do Emanage to tune the new injector flow at a bare minmum New fuel filter if your one is too old My dilemma is that I have all of those things
  2. Bump Updated with links to the pictures of production models. Unfortunately price will deter most, given our poor exchange rate. Now just waiting to see independent dynos
  3. I got my Toyo T1R's for $180 fitted, 205/55/16. Don't expect too many km's out of them though. I think I've done about 25000km, and the fronts need replacing. Might trying something else. At the moment I think you can get Re001s from bobjane for about $190 until the end of this month, 205/55/16. Having said that, I previously have a set of Michelins Energy that lasted me about 65000km before they needed replacing.
  4. Need some more concrete proof first mate, talk is talk. Not dissing you or anything, its just the way it has to be done, as Northy has mentioned previously. Personally I'm very interested in the development of this little project that you are undertaking.
  5. If you do your search around, you will find that for the 2zz AFR tuning, does not translate to much gain in general. Try researching on newcelica.org and 9thgencorolla.com You would have to spend a decent amount of time on the vvti map(?) to get decent improvement in your system.
  6. That is very interesting with the air flow and amount of restriction that can be placed using a muffler. An interesting comparison would be the effectiveness of the muffler against noise vs the flow rate
  7. I have gotten use to it so I can't really comment. My initial impression was increased low down torque and the fact that the curve is more linear the power spins up much quicker. Not to mention landing in lift was so damn easy.
  8. I'm just wondering where you are getting your dyno or possibly dyno tuning done?? Provided you have good quality fuel everytime you fill up, then pinging shouldn't be an issue *knock on wood*. Also as several other users have mentioned, tuning the AFR will not net you much of a power gain. Its mostly in the timing that the work has to be done to get any kind of useful gains. Are you looking at installing an aftermarket ECU or piggyback ECU?. If your tuner only suggested to straighten to correct the AFR then I would be a bit concerned if he was tuning my car. But then you just need to discuss with him and I'm sure he will know what he is doing. As for wasting money, I think spending money on a corolla is a waste of money in general. You don't get much more kw for the amount of money you are spending. If you had to spend money on performance parts then I would only do CAI and ported headers as they are possibly the more useful mods to do. My installation + tuning cost me about $1200. But because I got the PFC for only $780 delivered, it is considered cheap for $2000 all up.
  9. No need to remove to install rear shocks/coils. Its a little bit harder to get to, but the extra time is not worth removing it. If you can get your hands on a small ratchet and socket (14mm) then you are set.
  10. ECU (Tune and Install) $2500 New turbo (+lines etc) $2000 Mainfold + Dump + Exhaust $2500 Injectors $500 Intecooler (etc) $500 Engineers Cert $800 Labour ($100/hr) $2000 (+) Adds up to be little over 10K. I'm pretty I would have missed something. While your at it, a new HD clutch installed is around about $1000. + 20% for unexpected items. So a good budget to start with would be around about $12000. You'll also need a replacement car while its off the road.
  11. That sure is damn exxy for the BB harness, depending on how SD goes with the harness. I may need to get one off him
  12. Sounds great SD!! I wonder if this will make a few more people interested in going with a PFC, since installation is a bit of a hassle. Fire Xoom a PM and I'm sure he will sort you out. Only thing that doesn't work on my car is the temp gauge, everything else is in good working order. The PFC will plug straight into the loom, but needs some re-wiring to make sure all the input/output signals are where they are suppose to be. I look forward to hearing how you will solve the temp gauge issue SD casue it does annoy me sometimes. BTW have you already got a PFC doriae86?? Cheers
  13. Yeah, the car will tramp when wheel spinning. Front strut brace reduces it a bit. Add in larger front sway bar, coilovers, engine mounts and a LSD. What axle tramp?? I say read up the pinned topics and you should be able to get most of the answers you are looking for.
  14. Depends on your definition of when you consider them to be faulty. If you are saying when it starts leaking then mine started at around 60,000km. But the shocks still worked until around about 90,000 although a bit leaky, until it got replaced.
  15. If it surges and hesitates on light throttle, why would the 'fuel shut off valve' affect your driving? So at full throttle its got no fuel?? Tell them you believe that there is a vacuum related problem, and at the moment you think its related to the IACV (?) valve. Its basically attached to the throttle body and may just need cleaning out, or replacing altogether. BTW does the surging occur at idle as well??
  16. For the meantime you can try to polish and wax it to try to recover as much as possible. Only problem is that you actually have paint scraped off, which would require a bit of bogging/sanding and a respray. If your paint is metallic, then touchups would show quite easily. I think a full bumper bar repair/respray cost around $200.
  17. You have to go and try to hitch a ride with some people with D2's on their corolla. Coilovers are just not for me, I discovered it the expensive way. Its a personal preference though, as soft for some is hard for others. Also don't be fooled by these so called 'adjustable' coilovers, the amount of adjustment that you can possibly make is quite misleading. Also how often will you be adjusting your height?? So back to your original quesiton, yes your ride quality will suffer and will be more harsher then your current setup. Unless your prepared to spend up big (we are saying 3K or more, possibly even more then taht) then you will be hard pressed to find a set of shock/spring that will be nice and comfy like stock and nice and firm around the corners. I'm sure Bilstein and Ohlins have a few products in their rang that will suit your application but not your price. I don't know how comfortable your car would be with low profile tyres and stiff suspension, but I imagine it would be worst.
  18. Trust the Apexi or the Fluke?? Thats not a hard decision...(Its Fluke by the way)
  19. Its a different gearbox altogether, different ratios etc I'm not sure on this one, but I don't think the TRD SS for the zze123 would work on the zre. In the Sportivo you have to push hard across to the left and get past the resistance that is designed in the shifting cradle
  20. I though the denso platinum were OEM?? Well I could of gotten the NGK, but it would of made no difference except a lighter wallet. If you want a difference get a CAI, or a PFC :D
  21. Standard Denso Platinum plugs and they cost me $13 each.
  22. Ring up places that do clutches, don't go to your local mechanic. Unless your really friendly with your local mech, he will charge you close to the grand. I called up a local place near my work, its at South Windsor, think its called hi-tech clutch and brakes. The wanted $550 for a standard clutch supplied and fitted and a Exedy HD ended up being only $100 more. He said it only takes about 3-4 hours. Wohoo!! I am over the thousand now, dunno if I should be sad or happy. lol Should get the 2zzge flywheel that YDOIT4 is selling. New clutch and flywheel for 1K fitted WOOT!
  23. Gotta be careful around there loose road ahead. But that place is insane, gives me motion sickness when I go through it too quickly.
  24. What I noticed with new plugs was that the engine was more smooth, less vibration into the cabin and steering wheel. But these were plugs that have done about 100,000 km.
  25. I got quoted $650 for a exedy HD clutch supplied and fitted. Just ring around and I'm sure you can find a good deal.
