  1. Thats the only problem with the exchange rate being so low at the moment. It works out to be around $1400 AUD not incl shipping.
  2. Click on the following for the thread New Intake Manifold Click on the following for the pics Pics of the new Intake manifold, scroll down to post # 1466 No I am not adverstising, but I have been following it a little bit. The N/A crowd has been abit limited with bolt-ons for the 2zzge, Boosted over at NC has created a new intake manifold for the 2zzge the gains look very promising at the top end, especially 4300rpm onwards. So if we take into account that US dynos read high, we can expect around 10kw atw I suppose, if 23hp = 16kw. Looks good, will have to wait for independent dynos. Only problem is that you will need possibly a larger fuel pump and injectors, and please lets not turn this into a FI vs N/A debate! Only bad thing is that apparantly this manifold is going to cost about $1200USD, converted to AUD is about $1700. Add the cost of shipping etc + tax and it blows it out of the waters to 2000. Unfortunately the price is going to deter alot of potential buyers, me included .
  3. The thing with the CAI, is that the name may be slightly more misleading then you think. I don't believe a really big difference in temperature would affect the engine that much. Its the decrease in restriction and the increase in velocity of the air that probably makes most of the difference, not to mentioned that maybe the optimum length has been developed to ensure that the intake allows the engine to produce the most amount of power possible. Its like saying that if I HPC my whole exhaust system, followed by wrapping, it will produce more power then a 2.5" catback straight through exhaust. All in all, the modified stock air box 'should' produce slightly better results, I wouldn't say its an alternative to a proper CAI. Its probably more of mod for people that are concerned about getting caught. Kudos to Wayne for writing it up, cause I know most of us couldn't be bothered.
  4. isn't the engine bay pictured above the 2.4L camry engine with a charger strapped to it???
  5. I'm sure it can be done, IIRC the celica 6 speed gear box runs a taller 6th gear then the sportivos (i.e. at the same speed, its revs are lower @ 6th gear) . I wouldn't mind doing that as well, its going to be expensive though cause your basically taking the whole gearbox apart.
  6. With some cars, removing the resonator actually makes you lose a considerable amount of power. But with the corollas, the only point of it was to supress noise.
  7. Oval or hot-dog I think it will come down to your rear muffler. But for noise suppression then an oval one should be better. I recently got my cat-back re-done as the resonator was leaking, the previous place actually put a baffled resonator in there which may have robbed me of some power (2kw lol). So I got the new workshop to install two straight through resonators (aka hotdogs) an 18" one followed by a 12" one, only problem was that I put my stock muffler back on. Will try for a offset/centre straight through muffler in the coming weeks hopefully and see how we go for noise.
  8. Dunno how I would help int this debate. But this is what happened. When I got my new shocks I used king lows front and back, but the height thing was really bugging me. The handling improved over stock but it felt as if the front was getting alot of the weight shifted to it, I then later installed a set of sportivo accessory springs from toyota (20mm drop) at the front only and that made everything sit more flat then before. The change in handling was considerable, the car was considerably more stable around corners. I'm pretty sure that the spring rate between the two springs were pretty much the same if not similiar.
  9. But I'm just soft, lol. As I have said before, unless you like to take your corners at crazy speeds all the time, then these will be the perfect solution. You get what you pay for.
  10. I believe the EPA most likely will not care as long as you are under the db limit during testing, even with the valve fully opened. But I believe the RTA has stated that you are not allowed to have a device that allows the manipulation of noise, i.e varex muffler. Google for VAREX and RTA and I'm sure you will find it somewhere. But I'm planning to get a VAREX muffler soon, bah if they really wanted to defect me I would be gone pretty quickly. lol
  11. Well as kolourhero has mentioned, If Koni make them for your car then go for it. You will be really impressed with them, if you can team them up with Eibach springs cause they apparantly work better. I'm happy with my setup at the moment though.
  12. 5400rpm switch over point with about 17 hours of tuning.... But everycar is different, although my lift is earlier (as if you could really tell) my torque curve drops off in the top end a bit.
  13. road is not the race track, putting it on the stiffest setting is asking for shorter shock life and a really uncomfortable ride. Not to mention that and bumps or imperfection on the road will show up and your grip on the road will be severly compromised.
  14. You can and depending on the officer will get defected, even by changing different bulbs. If they are not ADR approved then its pretty much an instant defect I believe
  15. Coilovers will be stiff, and for what purpose?? A good spring and shock combination will be great for the street. I've tried all three combinations Springs + Stock Shocks Stock Suspension Coilovers Springs and Aftermarket shocks Thats how I would rate them, I don't believe coilovers are necessary unless you plan to track your car.
  16. You gotta pay to play I suppose When I bought my car it came equipped with king spring lows, I hated the handling. So I changed back to stock and like it better. But now I'm running king lows and Koni FSD's which I believe are perfect for the street. I also have a set of tein super wagons, which I think are a little too firm.
  17. Definitely stiffer, I suppose your handling is better.........but I from my own point of view, I wouldn't use lowered springs with stock shocks. I don't like the ride quality of lowered springs with stock shocks, definitely need aftermarket shocks with it to be better.
  18. What model corolla do you have?? Cause in NSW I think, not sure about the other states, the engine must be the same year or newer so that it can comply with emissions or something along those lines. I've known a 3sgte put into an AE82 corolla, that was scary. It was bumping out 160-170kw and the ae82 corollas weight like nothing. Needless to say he got a bit too excited and lost his license for three months.
  19. Nice work mate, and your engine bay looks really nice
  20. To reset your ECU, simply disconnect the -ve connection to your battery and leave it there for 30mins before reconnecting. I'm not sure, but I remember someone posting that if you pump your brake pedal after disconnection, you get rid of the 30min waiting period. I have only had Toyo T1R's and they made a noticeble difference with regards to grip, I even felt the car was able to slow down quicker during braking in everyday driving. Recently checked them, and the only drawback is that they seem to wear out quicker, which is expected.
  21. I'd really hate to say this, but I was curious with the performance of your car so I did some searching on the internet Unfortunately an automatic 2zzge and with the even heavier corolla chasis, will at best allow you a 0-100 in approximately...8.5s or more....so that plus your slippery tyres will put you into the 9s bracket. If your runx was a manual and returning those times, then there would be need for concern... The problem is that the gear ratio of the automatic tranny is not designed to take advantage of the narrow power band of the 2zzge, even the manual transmission gear ratios are not good with theoretical impossibility of landing in lift from 1st gear to 2nd gear.
  22. This is getting outta hand, and seriously, I'll say it once again... Since when was modifying cars a good idea....with the money I spent on my car, I could've sold the bloody sportivo and picked up an evo or sti. Definitely faster all around, but hey I bought it as a daily driver. Insurance and economy was what I was looking for, lol. Also something a bit different, to catch some people off guard. This debate can keep on going and going, but really what are we arguing about here? I say enjoy your car and if people are asking for advice, no dissing should be involved, keep it to yourself preferably.
  23. What do you mean by tiptronic mode?? Is your Runx automatic?? If its auto then I find a 0-100 in 7s flat a little hard to believe, I believe you would be doing low 8s. Either way a 9sec 0-100 is bad, unless its auto... Try resetting your ECU, and maybe you got bad fuel...
  24. What type of management system have they got?? If its a piggyback (unless emanage ultimate + v manage) it could of been why they are possibly slower with those mods. Before getting an exhaust, you should get a CAI first...
