Does it run DLI (aka distributor-less ignition, aka coil packs)? If not, then the coil will probably be within the distributor
  2. I thought this was a toyota site not a corolla site. But if you dont know thats ok. It is a Toyota site, but there are specific sections for each major Toyota model. Most of the members own Corollas though, so the general section can double as a Corolla section too.

    Handling

Hmmm, 92 Celica = ST184, thus it has the 2.2L 5SFE Camry engine. Should be faster than a Lancer, especially if it's a 1.5L (a lot of them are). If you want to test handling (in a legal way), go find a nice quiet stretch of twisty road and see which is better whilst still sticking to the speed limit. I would be surprised if it's the Lancer, especially if it's stock.

Normally the green sender wire goes to the negative side of the ignition coil
  5. Considering most Protons are re-badged Mitsubishis, thats not that bad.
  6. Can't get a part number for a rotor button, or a whole replacement distributor cap & rotor? All the 3T-GTEs you see on the road here are imported, so it's not likely that parts would be readily available on the shelf. As they are quite unique items (being twin-spark), my best bet would be asking Toyota for the parts, the part numbers are: distributor cap - 19101-88280 distributor rotor - 19104-88280
  7. I turned 24 a few weeks ago, so that rules me out :P
  8. Using the video card as an analogy, imagine you have an old PCI video card and motherboard. Thats your 18RC. Upgrading to a better carby engine like an 18RG is simply buying a better PCI video card and swapping the cards. Simple work. A 1GGTE or 1JZGTE would be equivalent to basically buying a new AGP or PCI-X video card, then having to get a whole new motherboard (ie loom + ECU) as well, as well as probably upgrading PSU, RAM etc as well to get the most out of it. Not simple at all, especially for someone who is not an expert in the area. Best bet is to buy the components yourself and then give them all to a professional to build.

    The stig

There are a good 4 or 5 Top Gear DVDs, but none of them are full seasons. One is a Best Of Season 1 and 2, the rest are themed ones like the Winter Olympics, Challenges etc.
  10. Could always go something different and put something like a 3RZ in there. A truck motor just like the 18R, but an extra 700cc and probably close to double the power of the 18RC. Only problem would be the height, as they're pretty tall motors.
  11. The 2.4 is a 2AZFE, the same 2.4 that has been found in the Camry for the past 5 years or so. The 3ZR is a 2.0L, by the way.
  12. No, that gearbox will not work. All Supras are rear-wheel drive, and you need a FWD-style gearbox. For the ST162s, if memory serves it should be an S-series gearbox, also found in 4-cylinder Camrys and non-turbo MR2s (however the MR2 one will have the shift levers on the wrong side of the box, since it is mid-mounted). As for which number within the series, don't quote me on this but I think you need an S53 or S54, as the S51 has a taller 5th gear for highway cruising in Camrys etc.
  13. My girlfriend told me about this when she found out. She was devastated. I had a few cold ones in celebration
  14. The money shot was one or two plays before that when he slipped an attempted sack and hit his team mate who was battling two Pat's. Amazing pressure and got them another first down. Go the Big Blue. + innovation points for using a helmet to help catch a pass.
  15. Was at the Dream Theater gig at the Hordern, was quite surprised at the relatively standard set that they played (compared to say Score or Budokan), but that didn't make it any less awesome. They got my hopes up just after the intermission though, seemed like they were going to play all of Scenes From A Memory until they stopped after Fatal Tragedy and went into Erotomania. Lines In The Sand has convinced me to buy Falling Into Eternity now, I've avoided it for a long time as well as Chane Of Seasons due to all the stigma attached to them.
  16. It was broadcast live on SBS starting at 10am Monday morning, then extended highlights were replayed at around 10:30pm Monday night. As an aside, I'm not huge fans of either team (I go for Jacksonville), but it was good to see the Giants come from behind as underdogs, plus muck up a whole heap of Superbowl trends along the way. The Patriots to me are just like the Roosters in the NRL - glamour boys, lots of talent but up themselves just a little bit. Although its good to see Wes Welker really coming to shine, as one of the shortest wide receivers in the NFL he's got a hard job, but the little man really can dance.

    The stig

I highly doubt that _the_ Stig is Lewis Hamilton, considering several things. 1) The white Stig has been around since the start of season 3, which aired in November 2003. Lewis Hamilton would have been 19 at the time of filming. Highly unlikely the BBC would let a 19 year old, no matter how talented, hoon around in such cars as a Gallardo. 2) By looking at the gap between his racing suit and his helmet, it has been determined that (at least sometimes) the Stig is a white male with dark hair. Lewis Hamilton is a dark-skinned male with very short shaved black hair 3) When Hamilton did he F1 Star in a Reasonably Priced Car drive, he was only 0.3 seconds slower than the Stig's time, and on a wet track too. It is generally regarded that a wet track is 2 seconds slower than a dry one, thus Hamilton is 1.7 seconds faster around the track than the Stig. 4) According to one of the stunt drivers on Top Gear, the Stig is not played by one person. Thus, it _could_ have been Hamilton, but definitely not all the time 5) Stig does speak, but never on camera. Thus, it would be expected that a very high profile F1 driver, who often speaks on camera, would not be a good choice for the Stig when he is coaching the celebrities.
  18. If I remember correctly, it is legal to have a radar detector in WA, don't think you can in the other states though
  19. If the chick was really cool, she'd be using the "stick"........and I don't mean changing gears

    Mk1 or Mk2

The tail-lights and rear garnish were changed in the SW20 mid-life facelift. Early ones had solid-ish taillights with the black inset garnish between them, the later ones had round lenses within the tail-lights and a body-coloured flush garnish. Also, the rear suspension was modified to try and calm down the rather unwanted (to novice drivers) tail-happy attitude that the car had at the limit, although I think Toyota made the suspension changes before the mid-life upgrade, so a Gen I might still have the upgraded suspension
  21. What do you mean? The Veyron ONLY comes with a flappy-paddle gearbox, and both Ferrari and Lamborghini offer sequential gearboxes for pretty much all their cars. Try finding a manual that can stand up to 400-500kw and have a clutch pedal that you don't need to be He-Man to use.
  22. Vote full Manual. The only time I'd put up with some kind of auto is if it was a Falcon or Commodore daily driver, and then only if it was a bog stock base model. Anything with any inkling of performance would have to be a manual. Forget that sequential crap, I don't care how many milliseconds your gearbox can shift in, if it's not you pushing the gears in yourself then it don't mean squat.
  23. Got my ticket for this for Christmas, been looking forward to this for years, DT's first ever tour to Australia, hopefully it'll convince them to come back more often. What really pisses me off is that their double-act with Opeth isn't coming to Aus, I saw Opeth 2 years ago and I've been itching to see them again ever since
