  1. The fuel filter isn’t too hard really, my father and I found it a little tricky getting it all to bits once it was out of the vehicle, but got it in the end. You don’t really need any sealant to seal it back down, the stuff that’s there is more than sufficient to stick and seal many times over. You get all you need with the filter from Toyota. We haven’t done the vale clearances just yet, but it is over due. You will need to remove the rocker cover, and a set of feeler gauges the check the vale clearances, (sensory method) but really it should be still ok at that mileage, but if it isn’t that would be a job for a mechanic because you will need to add some shims.
  2. Well I would like more power, but it is certainly more than sufficient for just daily driving. But when you want to put the foot down it can leave a bit to be desired, especially from a standing start. Mine is an auto, but a manual 4cy would be better, so that maybe something to consider if you can find one.
  3. I only have the 4cly myself, I get around 8.5-9.0 L/per 100kms,(A/C on) and I tend to have a heavy right foot from time to time. The consumption of the v6 on average would be no more that 1 maybe 2 L at most in difference, in fact in some cases it maybe better. The equipment leave on the V6 Sportivo is a bit better; you get two side air bags (Lumber) in addition to the 4cly only having two front and seat belt pre tensioners. You also get a trip computer and CD/cassette (which no one would use now anyway) with the Gen 5 or a 6 stacker with the gen 5.5. (as opposed to just cd with the 4 Cyl) Since you want a Sportivo you would probably be best off with the V6 overall.
  4. http://www.carmate.com.au/ make a replica TRD kit for the Aurion Front bar is $399.95 AUD Rear bar $395.95 AUD Side skirts $299.95 AUD
  5. I have seen a few on gen 5s around the place, but it looks a bit grandpa spec if you ask me.
  6. Looking good mate! I like the dark tint, only I hope you don’t run into any trouble from the law, but you would have to be pretty unlucky.
  7. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn’t there a member on here who clamed to have TRD 001?
  8. Don’t think so. It looks a bit different. Plus that one only has like 2000kms on it
  9. I know on some other forums the first 10 posts of new members are moderated, ie the post need to be approved by a moderator before it is displayed on the forum.
  10. I have used Preen on the seats and door trims on our Aurion. It’s used for getting stains out of clothes. But the marks weren’t to bad on the car, so unsure how it would go with your problem, but my mother swears by it with getting stains out of laundry, so it may be worth a shot.
  11. Too right! Your not out of the woods just yet, as you must have a problem of some sort in the cooling system. Like CHA54 said, You should never loose more coolant that what you reservoir can handle. In fact cars these days don’t usually consume any coolant as such.

    camber kit

Well its possible that the problem may be more serious, but if you alignment is out and you have too much toe out it will wear the inner of you tyres quicker that you might imagine. I had the same issue not long ago, I got an alignment and it all seems ok now. If it really is the camber, and not an adjustment problem, it would have to be a pretty big problem I should think. When was you last alignment any way?

I think you will find that your alignment is out. Take it for a front end wheel alignment and rotate your wheels and that should fix your issue.
  14. I cant talk for the V6, but they are certainly a nice car. I wouldn't say the 4cyl was a fishing trawler lol, maybe more a fast ferry? But certainly I would go V6. Manuals are hard to come by, so expect to pay top dollar I am afraid. My search only turned up one V6 manual in WA http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/privat...vo&trecs=21
  15. Hi all, A few weeks ago a strange noise started in the left hand rear of our Aurion, the noise sounds like something in the suspension is loose, it’s a bit like a clucking noise when ever you go over a bump. So my dad got underneath, but failed to find anything, so we took it to our local dealer, but what would you know, the noise had stoped! So of course, they found nothing. Two weeks pass, and today its back again. Thing is, it really hard to figure out what it could be, as it its rather intermittent, worse at slow speed. Its quite annoying to have such a loud noise and not able to fix it! And the fact it comes and goes. So any ideas of what it could be? Any one else had a similar problem?

  17. Wow! Now that’s snow. :o
  18. Have Toyota done away with security coding head units these days? I notice on our Aurion there is no security flashing light on the HU and nothing about any such function in the manual ether I don’t think. If this is the case, why? Stock HUs always had the ability the be security coded with Toyotas since the 1990s.
  19. 20w-50 should be fine. Coolant is any freeze, so as long as you have coolant it will be fine. Cant say about the chains, but it usually has to be pretty bad before they make it mandatory, but it can change within a day if there is a large dump of snow, so its a bit unpredictable in that regard. But you may need to check closer to when you go.
  20. Really just preparing as you would for any trip away. Ensuring your coolant is in good condition and full, Oil (preferably not too thick, but if your only going for a little time you will be fine) windscreen wipers, tyres in good condition and properly inflated. Other than that you should be fine, but just drive carefully being mindful of how slippery ice can be.
  21. For me, it would defiantly be the Azura. Back to back vale the Altise is not even comparable. The futures ( Sat nav, climate control, leather sports seats etc) and the V6 compared to what is just a base model, still a nice car but. Also you will find the fuel consumption difference to be very marginal, not to mention the deprecation will be less with the Azura. But of course the Altise is still a nice car with low kms. Is the Altise an Ex fleet car? If it isn’t I would be questioning why such a low mileage car would be for sale. Like lateralus said, have a drive of both and see which you like best.
  22. That would be the same shape as the one you have, which finished production in 2000 I think.
  23. As far as I know, all Tarago’s after the Wombat shape are auto. At least all Australian delivered ones with the 2AZ and the new V6 ones with 2GR.
  24. Agree! Defiantly go the TRD one.
