  1. I am a seventh generation Australian, and proud to be so! I think its quite ok to use the southern cross as a fashion statement/patriotism, provided its for the right reasons. Same with the anthem, as long as it’s respectful. And why should they? Personally I would be a bit offended if some in Australia took offence at our own national symbols/patrutisum, and bluntly if they dislike Australians and our ways, perhaps they should reconsider why they are here? Now I know some use this as a "I am better than you" kind of thing, and of course that’s wrong! And from that point of view I can partly understand where they are comming from.
  2. I installed a Sportivo strut brace on my Altise, and in my experience I found the strut brace to make not that much difference, but it may just be me. Unless you’re the sort of person that likes the push the car to its limits I wouldn’t worry. But if you do want one, get the whiteline adjustable brace, as it would be stiffer that the Sportivo one I imagine, unless you can get a Sportivo one from a wrecker. But in regard to the sway bars, I highly recommend you get one, it is the best bang for buck handling mod you can do for sure. There are two 20mm bars made by whiteline, the BTR39 and BTR39Z adjustable which is what I have. I also have a front adjustable one which is no longer on the site, so not sure if they are still made, but I found that to make a good difference also. I have seen the Gen 5 on coilovers before in Aus, so they must be available, but maybe a bit of overkill unless your wanting to take it to the track. So alliteratively you would be best lowing it on some King springs and maybe KYB struts or some other brand.

    losing oil

No, it should be up to the full mark, that’s why it’s the full mark. The cold shouldn’t have any bearing on oil consumption. It must be leaking out somewhere.
  4. The other day I saw the blue Aurion Sportivo towing a late model tandem commercial branded caravan, with that it was weighed down a little at the back. Personally I don’t think its ideal to tow a large van with FWD, but yours is ok. Then I saw an ATX pulling a trailer sailer, quite a big one, and very heavy with the lead keel etc and the Aurions front was right up in the air, looked very silly.
  5. 3 years is about average, but it depends on how you drive, mileage, pressure in the tyres and the quality of the tyres themselves. But it’s fair to say if you drive long distances on highways you should get more out of your tyres than say someone who does a lot of stop start and winding roads driving. But of course in a FWD you should rotate your tyres regularly, say no longer that 10,000kms between rotation to get the best out of them.
  6. I think you will find that the passenger side is meant to be higher than the driver side. Its so you don’t blind on coming traffic.
  7. Tungsten is the silver/grey coloured one. I dont think they are teribly populer. Example
  8. Good to have you on-board. Hope you stick around. :)
  9. Wow, your car is great mate! Looks and power to boot! You are one of the few people who have put words into action. Ie Many say they will do this sort of thing, but never come close or realise the amount of stuff involved, and for that alone you deserve a lot of respect in my book! Keep up the good work
  10. Thay look very nice lateralus, well done. I do believe that the callipers fitted to the Aurion are the same, or very similar as those on the Gen 5, as the pads are the same part number from Bendix. http://www.bendix.com.au/ReverseLookup.aspx?SetRefNo=DB1474
  11. Well hopefully it doesn’t happen again. But if it dose you don’t need to leave it unlocked, you can always just lock it the old style way, by pushing the little lock things forward and holding the handle open as you close the door, and just unlock the drivers door via the key.
  12. Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS plastic)
  13. You could try that, but an electrical contact spray would be best.
  14. mbruce: My name is Mitchell Bruce, self explanatory.
  15. Sounds like a dicky switch to me. Ether that or possibly a relay is faulty. When you put the lights onto high beam (and the light not come on) dose the little blue indicator come on the dash? If so I would say its a relay, if it doesn’t it maybe the switch.
  16. Is the Bedix Ultimate available for the Gen 5? According to their site only the General CT and Heavy duty are? http://www.bendix.com.au/ReverseLookup.aspx?SetRefNo=DB1474
  17. I am thankful that it’s you guys down south getting all the rain rather than us poor sods up north, because goodness knows we got our fair share this year! Mind you it only stoped raining on the weekend from a good 10 days straight. I know what you mean by silly people driving though water that is simply too deep! Even if you do get through safely, it’s not to say you won’t have done damage by getting water into parts of the car.
  18. Welcome! :) Are they all registered and insured? Surely the Toyota 3VZ-fe and 1MZ-fe aren’t that bad? I think you meant 2.4 for the Camry Altise.
  19. Can you take the little piece of broken cable out of the lock? if so that hole, if you cant remove it, no idea. :P
  20. I am sure DJKOR wasn’t referring to any specific type of bolt. What he is saying you need to be creative, improvise. If there is enough cable you could pass the cable thorough the hole and spin it around a bolt, then put the nut on to clamp the cable in place. Not any particular bolt, just a small one. I know it sounds dodgy, but short of buying a new cable you have to bodge up somehow.
  21. Are you going to get rid of the side repeater? It would probably be a bit costly, but leaving it there kinda defeats the purpose for having them on the mirrors.
  22. Checks for oil leaks, especially from the main seals, no doubt there will be a bit of seepage, but just make sure it’s not too much more than that.
  23. Good thread! Most of my annoyances have been mentioned but, people that will pass you and sit next to you when 2 lanes turn to one, you are in front by a bit and they think they have right of way???? Also people who hog the short overtaking lanes we have up here on the Bruce highway. Same in all states. They MUST indicate for no less than 5 seconds, be displaying the giveaway to bus sign and if the zone is more than 80km/h it no longer applies, and they must give way to you.
