  1. Are the D2 coilovers for the rear externally adjustable ie, the whole shock doesn't need to come out in order to change damp rates ? ie. you can just remove your boot trim and adjust them ?
  2. I'm on whiteline lows and stock shocks. They seem to be still working well after 10,000 kms - no leaks yet. If you don't launch over speed humps or do lots of high speed cruises they should last a bit longer.
  3. You could try a set of Eibach progressive rate springs.
  4. There was an old thread here that went along the lines of "How often do you hit lift in your corolla". On average people responded at least twice on each journey. Now we all know when shifting from 1st to 2nd you're already doing 80+ km/h... and most likely in a 60k zone. I think everyone here is guilty of flooring the accelerator of their cars every now and then. It's just how far do you take it and when do you back off.
  5. Would street racing be considered as getting to the speed limit as fast as you can ? Scenario: two lanes at a traffic light. A car is parked 100 metres on the left lane. You're in the right lane, and a P-Plater driving a early model commodore pulls up on the left lane in attempt to overtake you. Do you show him what the shopping trolley corolla can do or do you let him in, even though you know he won't give you a hand signal show of thanks.
  6. I just get 3 blobs of blu-tak and put them between the license frame holder and the hatch.
  7. There should have been a single rubber end cap that came with the kit. You can find another one on the back of the the stock airbox as well. I noticed you didn't bother with the bracket that holds the vsv.
  8. Hmmm.. Last time I spoke to him was a couple of weeks ago. He was busy with work and sorting out the damage that was done to his car. I think we need another group buy going...
  9. Doesn't the throttle body coolant bypass mod supposedly helps to cool the air entering the throttle body ? I thought the air would be travelling at such high velocity, that there wouldn't be enough time to heat the air up...
  10. Make sure you put a little loctite on the screws which hold the maf sensor on to the cai. The engine vibrations tend to loosen them and I've already lost a precious trd screw...
  11. Okay, thanks, I'll stick with koni yellows. Don't want to get airborne on speed bumps or haemerhoids.
  12. I have about 7mm worth of tread now, I've had them for about 7,000K's now and they have saved me a couple of extremely close calls that would have wiped my front end out if I were using cheaper tyres. I know my abs works... :)

Next time go drive through.... Not worth getting injured with a Mcdonalds hotcakes knife. :)
  14. What about these ones... They might look too much like sportivo stock rims. Rims
  15. Sorry, I should have been clearer in my first post. I was referring to Koni yellow shocks with my existing whiteline springs or D2 coil overs in street spec. Price wise, Koni's would be supplied and fitted for about $1250 or thereabouts. D2's I'm thinking $1550 supplied and fitted. There's not too much of a difference in price between the two so need to make a decision about them... Anyone with D2 street spec care to comment on their comfort levels in comparison to stock ride ?
  16. No need to remove the wheel. You might want to get some single sided adhesive foam tape from Jaycar as well to cushion the areas where the red pipe/brackets rubs against the chassis, air con pipes and wires from the fuse box.
  17. I'm getting to a stage where I need to decide on whether to get Koni's or a set of D2 in street spec. Looking for comfort just slightly harsher than factory, and will probably visit the track about twice a year... Is the the D2 street spec fairly comfortable ? I don't want to bounce and feel every crack on the road. Can someone make any recommendations ? My mate says that I should get konis because these coilovers are made in taiwan.
  18. I got mine from the same shop thanks to specialized32's previous thread. :) The filter will fit with a little push and shove from underneath where you remove the splash guard, just make sure you have someone up top to direct it onto the red pipe.
  19. Sorry to hear about this. :( I guess if you look on the bright side, this could be an opportunity to get an after market spoiler kit fitted instead of a factory one.
  20. Okay... Came really close last night into ordering one, but have held back on this. My friend said that if I ended up getting one of these, sooner or later I'm going to have other gauges mounted outside on the bonnet...LOL... Thanks for the replies. I'll try and shift like a man.
  21. I spoke with a mate of mine and he said don't get a shift light because it's ricey and that I should know when to change gears by listening to the sound of the motor. I don't know at this stage... do many people put a shift light in their sportivos ?
  22. I'm thinking of getting a shift light because it can be quite dangerous taking your eyes off the road to watch the tacko hit 8000rpm in preparation for the next gear shift. I've noticed on ebay that there are some shift lights which simply run from the cigarette lighter, and am wondering how accurate these are as they don't hook into the rpm wire. Can someone recommend a decent shift light that they've had experience with ? Are the ones listed here any good ? www.raptorperformance.com Thanks.
  23. There is something about those headlights that make this car unappealing. I think it needs eyelids.
  24. I agree a race pipe could have saved you in this case. One thing I've found is that if you have a mega loud exhaust, other drivers tend to know where you are even if you're driving in their blind spot. :o
