  1. It happened in Marrickville. There's a group of feral teenagers that have moved into a house down the street. They regularly walk up and down the street yelling and swearing fuk this fuk that with slurred speech - you know what I mean.... I'm off to get some more quotes to see what I'm up against. Thanks Nek for the recommendation - however, I'd like to try locally first to see if I get ripped off. LOL.
  2. I'm usually really careful with my car. It's always garaged at home and at my parents place, but on Sunday it was parked on the street in front of my in-laws place, and some Fuk wit keyed the front left quarter panel, the front left passenger and rear doors. That's 3 panels and its a long scratch that extends virtually the entire length of the panel. Being a cascade blue sportivo, the white primer underneath stands out like :o Word of warning, don't park in suburbs where there are high pockets of unemployed teenagers as they get very very jealous of you. This will be an insurance claim for me. One place quoted up to $1600 to respray all 3 panels.
  3. Have a look at the eyelids on the c-one site. ('01.1~02.9) = pre face lift ('02.9~) = face lift Therefore... CA7601-NE121 = pre face lift CA7601-NE122 = face lift As long as google translation is correct... But didn't someone say that the rear wing on both pre face life and face lift models are the same ??
  4. I attempted to install the front strut brace but my cheap socket set cracked on me while trying to undo the super tight bolts. Oh well, classic case of buy cheap buy twice. Got to take it somewhere to get it done now.
  5. It's was great meeting everyone on last night. Corzza those wheels look great, I couldn't believe how clean your car is, it virtually glows red under the car park lights.
  6. I think the performance gains are small not because of the panel filter but because the intake pipe on the stock setup goes to about roughly 40mm diameter in one section. I'm pretty sure there are more gains to be had if you replace the stock intake pipe with a 3 inch flexi pipe and get a 3" to 2.5" reducer to the standard air box.
  7. Can't wait to get some of this gear... it's been a long wait. Will xoom have this gear for Sydney ppl soon ?
  8. Does anyone know of a decent place that can paint these up ? My local panel beating shops want to charge through the roof for it saying the paint alone costs $80-$90.
  9. During a gear change I don't press the accelerator - I notice that rpms drop down much faster with older oil. Do you change gears with the accelerator pressed down ? Perhaps it's the way I was taught to drive a manual car.
  10. I did my oil change this morning and put Castrol Edge sport 5w-30 fully synthetic in. Nearly did my socket set in because toyota service tighten the sump plug nut way too tight. I had to end up using my foot and body weight to get it off. Fortunately the oil filter came off okay. Anyway, Lift is definitely stronger with this stuff in it and engine idles noticeably quieter and runs smoother. I just hope it lasts as the normal castrol oil that Toyota uses in it's servicing last for about 1000ks before you can feel it getting rough as gear changes aren't as smooth.
  11. Another thing to check is the speedometer. It shouldn't have too many klms on it otherwise its an ex demo car.
  12. No doubt a lot of people running these will finally get their revenge on the corolla at traffic light sprints. I also think that at that price, I'd prefer the vw golf and get some european luxury.
  13. http://www.drive.com.au/editorial/article....vf=7&bg=24&pp=9 Anyone trading there corolla in for this beast ? Sorry if this has been posted before.
  14. Go with GIO - they told me over the phone as long as it's rta legal it should be fine. However, if I make a claim I need to pay an extra $100.
  15. I had mine done at Australia's Best Tyre Service near roselands - $220 inclusive of front wheel alignment.
  16. I bought mine on November 2003 - I've only got 24500 klms on it at the moment. It's one of the reasons why a novated lease car wouldn't be in my favour.
  17. The replica's sound tempting. You got a price on these ? :)
  18. I don't think double sided tape will hold too well. I might use shoe goo for mine.
  19. All the whiteline gear is shipped from Minto in Sydney... so it's not too far away... For those of you getting the springs, make sure there is a warranty card enclosed so that you can measure the before and after ride heights.
  20. took the car in - the dealer refused to touch the clutch and said it was acceptable - I asked if the clutch mechansim was at least checked to spec - he advised no - reiterated that the the clutches are self adjusting and nothing could be done. Basically palmed me off. I note that that on the sportivo that I test drove (had about 13km on the clock) the gear changes were almost featherlight, friction point was were you expect it to be, really nice to drive and is why I bought the car. My car is quite tight and 3rd gear is notchy, friction point started mid way. The dealer said it is a (1100km) new car and that it should soften up with time. I've given up on that dealer, next service - not sure whether to take it to Chatswood or Sydney City - I will ask them to fix. I wish I had better news! Take it to Sydney City Toyota Camperdown. Their customer service is top notch compared to the original dealer that I bought my car from. They did my clutch adjustment without me even asking...
