  1. Turn the dial to heat when you drain it so the heater core will empty properly. If it has not had the coolant changed for a long time and comes out looking a muddy/rusty colour I would suggest filling with tap water and take it for a drive to get it hot (leaving the dial on heat) then let it cool down and drain again. This will help give it a flush and remove most of the left over coolant. Then refill with the new coolant and it should be all good again. The heater is like a little radiator and sometimes an air lock can form in side, that is why you need the heater on refilling so the valve (usually near the firewall in the engine bay) is open. I turn the fan on as well that way if I can feel the heat from the vents I know coolant is flowing through the heater core. Remember to check your coolant level after it has been taken for a drive and cooled down as it may need a top up.

  5. Going to Toyota? Pfffft :P You may be able to get aftermarket rotors for your ride, but I have had a good look and there appears to be no listings for the TRD Aurion! The closest to a front rotor is a Corvette rotor that will need the hub machined and the PCD redrilled. You cant get a slotted rear rotor for a normal Aurion even with DBA listing them so there is no chance of getting the vented rear rotor that is on the TRD. Pads is a different story, fronts I have confirmed as 7599 but the rears need a bit more research, either DB1354 or DB1376. Wow, I never really thought of measuring my rotors as part of my usual checks when I have my wheels off for rotation. I didn't think they would get eaten up at a rate like that. I guess I'll add that to my checklist of things to do in future. Toyota rotors are normal quite hard (compared to Ford/Holden rotors) so is not normally an issue, but the lip on the edge of the front rotor is big enough to see in the photos from the Tangcla shoot we had. It was a check to see if they had enough meat to be machined or if they had gone bellow minimum thickness. So unless you have a lip I would worry about doing it.
  6. CES here in BNE gave me a quote for the TRD for the Y pipe + 3 inch system with 2 1/4 inch rear mufflers in S/S $3500. This was a little while ago now so it may be a bit out of date.
  7. Daryl go and talk to Fulcrum as they could do customised Koni sports probably for around $1600AUD. That is about what it cost for mine in my old gen4 Camry. Another place I have found to be good is The Shock Absorber Reconditioners down in Springwood http://www.shockreco.com.au/ . I have had my Koni shocks revalved there. They were quicker and cheaper then getting them done at Fulcrum, as well as good service.
  8. Ash last night was SoO II not III. :P I don't think there was anything on last night at Willowbank. There are a quite a few other Test'n'Tune events before July 15 but I will be wait for the small crowd night as I don't follow rugby league.
  9. The US guys are having the problem around 60,000 miles (100,000 kms). I have a pipe on order but it has to come from Japan. $45 with the gaskets. :) My RX had done 95,305 clicks when it sprung a leak. So their stats are pretty spot on. SupaTouring, if you or anyone else is in need of one in a hurry, Lexus (Parramatta) spares have them in stock. Not sure of the price though. Thanks for the tip. Mine is only up to 43K so I am happy to wait till it comes in and hopefully have it for fitting at the next service.

  11. December 05 was the last build date of the manuals. I had one before my TRD came along, it was a good car, not the fastest thing around but comfy and with a few extras. The V6 is the way to go!
  12. Checked how much brake pad was left and measured the thickness on the front and rear rotors on the Aurion. 44k and front and rear rotors are at minimum thickness :( New rotors and pads $1300 from Toyota :o

  14. Mitchell double check all the swaybar bolts as they can be a cause of the noise you are describing. And also make sure that it is not touching anything it shouldnt.

  16. I have double checked and it is a Test'n'Tune Mine is almost due its 45k service and I think that the front pads have just worn out as the squealers are starting to make some noise. I'd be up for it. I NEED to crack into the high 13's. I need to get into the mid 13's then!

  18. Go the Garmin very user friendly. I have used one of the current Navman units and I found it very annoying to navigate through the menus.

  20. Put a 3s-ge Beams from an Altezza in it with the 6 speed manual. They are quite a heavy car for a 4a.
  21. Thanks, the unit also fits the camry, echo, corolla and prado as they use the same head unit. Any chance this would fit the 2007 Aurion? I'm trying to find a solution so I can play music from my iphone without using the dreadful FM transmitter! Thanks Harry I have an adaptor from here MP3 my car that works very well in my Aurion and my wifes Camry both 2007 models. Its plug and play as it connects to the CD changer socket on the back of the factory head unit.

  23. The factory head units are not blue tooth capable except for the sat nav head units. Yes I have spotted the blue tooth markings in the display as well. Toyota has a accessory blue tooth kit available which plugs into the back of the head unit. Check this out I have been using a Nokia car kit which I installed before the Toyota one became available.
