  1. Sounds to me like you p!ssed her off when you said that you were considering selling her . That's going to be interesting to try and get Toyota to replicate.
  2. Relax guys. In the scenario/s mentioned here, it is definitely the ABS self check. There's no need to worry that you Aurion is broken or is not operating as it should. The way the self check is performed is all in the way it's programmed to operate. It is most likely doing the self check when you start the car and go straight into drive without reversing. You probably can't hear it in that scenario due to the way it operates (eg. reversing may have had more application of brakes etc). I would agree with your hypothesis here. I have had the ABS do it's self check while the brakes were applied on numerous occasions, and I'll tell you for a fact that it makes a really strange noise when it does. Chances are, if it did that all the time, more and more people would be complaining that it's a problem when it isn't. And by the way, the ABS can do it's self check in reverse. I get it a fair few times reversing up my driveway in the morning, hence why I mentioned about the brakes being applied. But if yours does't do it in reverse, it's not something to be concerned about. I drive a bit more aggressively.
  3. I just read that article. How's this for fail:
  4. Depend on how the humidity. If it is reletively dry, your air-conditioner can run without a single bit of condensation coming off the evaporator. No condensate coming out of the drain hole doesn't necessarily indicate a blockage.
  5. It's amazing what 10 seconds of Google searching can find: http://www.toyota.com.au/ebrochure-download/Toyota_Aurion_eBrochure.pdf Page 5 shows the colour code as 1G2.
  6. I don't like to be a minute man . Each to their own mate.
  7. In general, they tend to have better water dispersion properties which makes them safer in the wet. They can also give better stopping ability. Just habe to make sure you only do same side front to rear and vice versa tire rotations.

OH MY HOLY F***ING EPIC FAIL BATMAN!!! That is some seriously shocking news. Poor 5S. Things were looking so damn good as well. DAMN YOU PISTON RINGS! DAMN YOU!!!
  9. I think the only person around here who would be able to provide the closest advise to fitting airbags on an Aurion would be INDOMI. I'm not sure if he fitted bags to a Gen 6 Camry (similar to the Aurion suspension wise), but I'm sure he would have the most experience since he has dealt a bit with airbags and had done quite a bit of suspension work to his Camry. I don't think he is around much anymore though.

    JOKES !!!!

A new CEO takes over at a struggling company and decides to get rid of all the slackers. On a tour of the facilities, the CEO notices a guy leaning on a wall. He can't believe this guy would just stand around on the job. The new CEO walks up to the guy leaning against the wall and asks, "What are you doing here?" "I'm just waiting to get paid," responds the man. Furious, the CEO asks "How much money do you make a week?" A little surprised, the young fellow replies, "I make about $300 a week. Why?" The CEO quickly gets out his checkbook, hands the guy a check made out to cash for $1,200 and says, "Here's four weeks' pay, now get out and don't come back." The man puts the check in his pocket and promptly walks out. Feeling pretty good about himself, the CEO looks around the room and asks, "Does anyone want to tell me what just happened here?" From across the room comes a voice, "Yeah, you just tipped the pizza delivery guy $1,200."
  11. Most tires do. Depends on how they are driven. I'm just going by what a couple of mates have said. The 225's will be 1.57% smaller in diametre. This will result in your speedo reading 1.584% faster than it would be with 215's. Usually though, your speedo is off by a few percent in the first place, so this just brings it up that little bit closer to accurate. In terms of drivability... you won't even notice it. When I upsized my tires from 215/55R17 to 225/50R17, the difference was 1.75% smaller and didn't even feel a difference.
  12. Usually you have to make a slight tradeoff when you want to satisfy many areas. Softer compound tires are generally quieter and comfortable on the road and also tend to be grippier. Only thing is, they don't have the greatest lifespan. A long lasting tire however tends to be a harder compound and you sacrifice some grip and they tend to be a bit noisier on the road. Personally, for your requirements, I would avoid the Potenza Adrenalins. They are a good tire, but you only really get the most out of them once you get some heat into them and give them some work to do. Otherwise, it's just extra money down the drain. And come to think about it... they are a little over-rated. As well, I'm not a fan of Yokohama's. Not saying I don't like them, but for getting good life out of them, they don't quite satisfy. They do have excellent grip, but don't expect much life out of them. Yokohama's in general are a rather soft tire, and even the tire shop said to expect like 25,000km out of them (for my S.Drives). As for getting new wheels, if finding tires for your current wheels is a bit difficult, then getting a set of 17's may make it a little easier. Only thing to remember though is that price tends to go up for tires in increasing sizes, so it may not work out as economic as expected. You can try using 225/55R16 tires as well as these should be a bit easier to find and may be more cost efficient than 215/60R16. I have heard good things about Kumho KU37's in terms of comfort/noise and wear. These come in a 225/55R16 size with a RRP of around $200, so they work out to be decent value.
  13. Spotted at 1:00pm at the Sunnybank Plaza carpark, a pretty much stock looking black Aurion Sportivo ZR6. Looks like someone wishes they had an Audi :
  14. Same here. But no one needs a joyride in a TRD anyways. yeh im keen as, getting close mate :) Fark yeah!!!
  15. If held right, you won't scratch the glass when dry. I've never had issues. Even when wet, you can still scratch the glass if not held right.
  16. It's quite possible that your technique may just not have been 100% during the process. It's sometimes a little tricky to get the right combination of speed and pressure used with the right compound to get the results you are looking for. Maybe if you have some mates that have done this before, have them help you out to fix what you've got and to teach you some tricks. Otherwise, maybe it would be a good choice to pay a professional to get it up to scratch and then practice on something else (like an older car or something) till you get your technique down pat. One reason why I really really prefer doing stuff like this by hand rather than using a machine buffer. It's not that I don't trust myself with it, but in the extra time and effort you spend trying to do it by hand, you have just that little more precision over what you are doing. Plus you feel so good once you finally get it finished . Took me a total of like 4 days of Swirl treatments etc to get my old Sportivo looking new again when I first got it. Like they say, hard work pays off.
  17. Why put yourself in debt just to make yourself happy with not much positive gain? Like others have said, save your money and do it bit by bit. You will get a better sense of accomplishment if you do it that way. Sure you may get buyers remorse, but it's better to know that you don't owe anyone back on it. Plus you save on interest. I've been in debt before from living beyond my means. It's fun at first to have all the extra room to play around with, but at the end of the day, you only end up screwing yourself. Once I payed off and cancelled all my credit cards (except one for business requirements which I make sure to use only for pre-auths) it was such a great relief... greater than that which I felt from buying stuff with it.
  18. Welcome mate. Definitely the place to be for the info you need. Where are you from?
  19. Well my next choice would be the razor blade method. Always use a new blade if you want to minimise the chance of scratching the glass, and hold it was flat to the glass as you can. Doing this, you shouldn't scratch the glass.
  20. Try using metho and a soft cloth and see if that gets it off.
  21. You're welcome mate. Music is just one of those things that you have to have while driving. These two head units aren't of any use in the cupboard here anyways.

Damn. Didn't expect you to flat black the engine bay as well. Neat as.
  23. The maps can be a bit touchy and only like to work with certain versions of iGO8. Your best bet is to start from new with an updated program as well. Links are here: http://www.austech.info/igo/33277-ultimate-new-igo8-thread-hollowman-feb-2010-a.html
  24. Not necessarily: Which site are you on? This is what I see on the Toyota China website:
