ATTN: all computer geeks... (compliment, not an insult!)
DJKOR replied to JJCRU23R's topic in Club Lounge
What happens is, when you have a user profile (lets say your username in this case is "Owner"), there is an option when creating that profile that makes your files private. When creating users, this can easily be selected without you noticing. Then when you log in as another user, the files that were created under the user "Owner" can not be accessed. Even if you restore everything on another drive with the exact same username, you still won't be able to access these files. This is why there is that procedure listed my Microsoft to enable you to change ownership. During this process, you will not need to have a password for the original account in which it was created. One of those security flaws of Windows. -
I know, I know. Also the red interior is an eye catcher. At first I didn't like it, but in person it was so much better. I've been lucky enough though to have seen red, silver, and black TRD's at our meets here on a frequent occasion so I have had a good 'taste' of them. I must say, they all look great, but the black seems to be ticking my fancy at the moment. I don't exactly want to go into figures at the moment until it is all sorted, but it is certainly more than that. Still have a hire car Corolla sedan until the end of next week. After that, I'll be in Brisbane for the weekend without a car then heading to Adelaide on Monday for a few weeks in which I won't really need a car. Should be convenient to sort things out.

When you say you tested it with another sub, did you test it to the same volume? I'm saying this because what you may be getting here is your amp protection jumping in which will essentially turn it off to try and save itself.

Got me all excited as well. Speaking of drag times, such a shame, but I never got the opportunity to beat my personal best. So as it stands, the time for anyone here to beat is: 14.131s @ 99.29mph Come on guys, shows us what you've got.

As mentioned, it's for the American Gen 6 Camry. This comes as part of the 8-speaker JBL Premium audio package where they also use JBL speakers. The extra two speakers are just like the facelift Aurion here where they are basically just a two-way rear speaker design.

Whenever you do a re-install of Window$, you usually also have to re-install all your programs. Some programs can continue to work after Windows is re-installed, but sometimes don't function completely. The reason for this is because you have registry entries created in Windows that tie in with the program files. As for accessing your 'locked' files, follow this procedure: How to take ownership of a file or a folder in Windows XP Also helps to make a partition of at least 15GB and have this as a Windows only partition in case such a thing happens again. Then install program files on the other partition so that way the system partition fails, you can format it and re-install and be fairly safe with having all your important stuff backed up on the second partition. Also as suggested, get a larger drive. They are cheap as these days. I got a 1.5TB drive for like $140. Then you can turn your old drive into a system only drive. -
unique: Looking at those photos, I would so kill to have a car that shiny all the time when driving around. Damn that is some serious shine. I know Wildfire would be so nice to have, but I figured that for just a little bit extra, I can pick up a 3500SL. May as well get top of the range I'd say considering it is a discontinued car. I found a reasonably priced black one with low kilometres which I will check out. Just waiting for AAMI to sort things out.

Brisbane Meetup (Every Thursday 9pm)
DJKOR replied to Danthuyer's topic in Previous/Past Club Meets & Events
I hate missing out on meets. Feels so lonely on a Thursday night otherwise :( They do their job, and they do it quite well. I have made quite a few comments regarding this topic over in the Aurion boards such as: eBay HID LIGHTS (page 2 for most discussion), and Blue Vision vs. HID (post 22 onwards) To credit their durability as well, they were still working perfectly fine after my accident which would have been a pretty rough ride for them. Depends on whether I am in town or not. Speaking of which, I guess I have to order another set again. -
The motors on mine were still running fine. They had survived quite a lot of heat given the use my Aurion had. Even after all the banging around they got at the beginning of the week, the flaps still operated and the motors were fine. One common way to blow the motors easily (not saying this is how yours wore out) is by operating them once they have reached full open or full closed. Holding the button down for any more an a second once the motor has reached the limit can cause the windings to burn out and this is even more of an issue when the exhaust (and therefore) the motor is hot. No need for any 90 degree bends. They can just form some new pipework to the muffler but with different bends. Just look at this pic where you can see the pipe to my Varx (just off the photo): Depends on which type of muffler you get. The Varex is fairly straight through as it is but there are mufflers out there that can make things just a little louder... but more drone. From there, you then start playing with different resonators etc. But you are better off in the first place with a full exhaust.

Classic. What was funnier was seeing the title bar as the page loaded. Then I LOL'ed hard... really hard.
-
Damn, these comments about black cars makes me want to reconsider. When it comes to the TRD I'm planning on getting, it's either silver or black. Not saying the silver is boring, but the black just looks hot. But then silver hides dirt a little easier as well. Hmmmm. Decisions decisions.

Damn... that sure is quite a lot of water there. Like you said, who knows where else it could be. Water and car interiors don't go too well together. Hope Toyota get their act together on that one.

Easily?! How small are your hands? Small enough to get into ALL those tight places eBay mate. The quickest way to get them really. Otherwise Autobarn etc stock T10 replacements that use multiple LED's, but they are quite limited in terms of what they stock.
-
Please tell me you cleaned the surface of the lamps with methylated spirits or similar. Otherwise they have a good chance of blowing sooner than normal. Parkers can be accessed easily through the wheel arch and the fog lights can be changed by removing the plastic trim under the bumper. The bumper still doesn't have to come off. I changed the parkers on mine a few times and fitted LED's to the parkers of a few other Aurions without the need to remove anything else. I also fitted fog lights to Ingres' Aurion without removing the bumper.
-
If you want to remove the headlight assembly, the bumper must be unclipped at the very least. This is due to the fact that the headlight assembly has a part on the underside in which the bumper clips onto/around as can be seen in this photo from JIN: A word of advice though. If you take care with the lamp, you don't have to remove your bumper just to fit HID's. Everything is easily accessible from behind. I've fitted HID's on three Aurions so far and haven't had to remove the headlight assembly in all cases.

There were late 09 facelift models so they are out there.

Basically what I said here: I've got my eyes set on getting a TRD 3500SL. So for that, it's either silver or black. The final colour choice will come down to what ends up being the best value (have to factor in transportation as well if it is interstate). I may even end up with that moonroof that I was really wanting. If all else fails, I'd be aiming for a Wildfire TRD 3500S.

What oil do the dealers use and fluids?
DJKOR replied to Silver-Aurion's topic in Aurion / TRD Aurion Club
I would never touch Magnatec myself, but this is based on word of mouth from those around me saying bad things about it. For my Aurion, I used Fuchs Titan Super GTO 10W30. It is a fully synthetic and was just one of those oils I tried and was satisfied. Never had any issues with it. -
The RE050's are more of a tire suitable to most conditions. They are better in the wet than the Adrenlins, and they have reasonably good grip in the dry. The Adrenalins though would provide the most grip once warm, but from an everyday driving perspective, the RE050 would be the better choice.

To extend on what I spoke with you in PM, I have done a rough sketch of what the relay wiring should be like. Toyota tend to use ground switching so the second diagram should be what you need, but there is the possibility that your Rolla uses standard positive switching, which in that case you would use the first diagram. Excuse how messy it is. I couldn't find any paper in my room, and I am pretty busy trying to sort stuff out for work. Positive switching: Ground switching (most likely):

Thanks once again guys. I'm a believer in fate/destiny so this event was just one of those things that was meant to happen in my life. It's kind of starting to become forgotten now and my emotional connection with the car is becoming slightly less. I guess I have come to the realisation that no matter what I think, she ain't coming back. I still miss her quite a bit in that when I look back at what I've done to her, it's all just gone. It was a car that I had when I started posting on these forums and it was pretty much how I was recognised. Like everyone has said though, through sacrifice of my car, my Dad and I were allowed to walk away unharmed. I now have a greater appreciation for the safety that this car has and am definitely going to replace it with another Aurion. Had a call from AAMI today saying that they are getting their assessor to look at it. The towing company and holding yard has an assessor, but I think AAMI may not believe them if they said it was written-off since in their words to me, they said that "it is insured for a fair bit" and they want to see if it's more economical to repair it. Personally I think it is stuffed because so many things were pushed and bent in the process of the accident, but we'll see what AAMI say. If they say they want to repair it, I will be asking without hesitation about what they can offer in terms of buyback. So I guess that tomorrow, all that should be assessed and I can plan which way I go from there.

Unfortunately when it comes to the TRD, Wildfire and Smart Entry do no go together. Real bummer there because I would love a Wildfire TRD. Other thing is that I'd preferably want something with lower K's. Yeah I know the Smart Entry is a little bit on the gimmick side, but damn I love the concept.

The rotors on the Aurion have been said by a few to be a little sub-standard with regards as to how fast they tend to warp a bit when compared to other stock rotors. You have mentioned that you have had your rotors machined twice... maybe three times. Each time you machine your rotors, you are making them thinner, and by doing so, you increase the chance of them warping again. So in a case like this, it isn't purely the quality of the rotor to blame. Regardless, we do have some suggestions alread when it comes to us here in Australia. This can be found in the FAQ's. You may need to do a bit of research on top of this:

Thanks so much to everyone for the kind words. Makes me feel so much better. It's to the point now that I can fairly easily not think about it all, but every now and again, I just realise that it actually did happen and that she is now gone. Funny you mention that. Provided that I get paid out in full since I am pretty sure this car is a write-off (unles I am really thinking of getting another Aurion mainly because I still love the car for what it is, plus I have good faith in them now with respect to safety. At first I thought since I really love the Wildfire colour (and because that's what I had), I was thinking of maybe using my money to get an 07 Sportivo ZR6 with sunroof and keeping whatever cash was remaining. One reason I want the ZR6 is the Smart Entry. It's one of those gimmicks that I want. I then realised that this option probably isn't really the best choice, so then my next idea was to add about $10k and get say a 2009 facelift Sportivo SX6. I'm not much of a fan when it comes to the new Sportivo's though. But this option then means I will have a new car etc, etc. My other option though is to get a TRD. I would have to get a 3500SL since if I'm getting a TRD, I'll want the Smart Entry as well. Options are fairly limited, but I have found one for sale in Adelaide where I happen to be working in a couple of weeks time. This one would require that I add on about $10k to my insurance payout, pretty much like if I was to get the facelift SX6. Only thing is, the TRD is a 2007 model, however only has 18,000km on the clock. It is silver in colour (like yours David), so it doesn't quite feel the same to me, even though I have no issues with the colour. So while I wait for this insurance to sort itself out, I have some thinking to do. Depite the TRD being a 2007 model and being a second hand car, I am still leaning more towards it just due to the fact that it is the TRD. Sorry mate. Nothing came through to my phone, but I understand. Thanks for the generosity as well. I should be fine though. I plan to have everything sorted out so once I return to Brissy, I should have a set of wheels again. Slightly more critical because I will be filling a full time position on my return which requires that I have a car.

Brisbane Meetup (Every Thursday 9pm)

Thanks guys, but yeah. I will be workign away from home for a bit. Except now instead of driving to Adelaide after Lorne here, I will be flying back home for the a weekend before flying out to Adelaide. No meets for me for a little while. Luckily the time spent working interstate should allow me some time to sort out a car for when I return.
