  1. Good job mate. Glad to hear you are satisfied. Quad tips worked out alright. The whole power gain thing is like an endless argument until you can show solid proof. My opinions still stay in line with what Ray said in that: As long as you're happy though, that's all that counts.

  3. Could possibly be either some random object on the road, or just a crappy tire. I've had a separated tire once which I believe was the tire itself and not from something on the road. The tire was only about 7,000km new.
  4. Most people would recommend using a quick detailer spray and a microfibre cloth for those in between cleans like a light dusting from a quick drive. In my opinion though, as much as a dirty car sucks, I will NEVER run anything over the surface of my car unless the car as been washed properly. This is why sometimes I can wash my car up to 3 times a week.

  6. Quoting you for this post but not quoting you in the sense you were referring to, but even gas shocks will still have some oil in them. Yeah, definitely not a $600 job. I'd find somewhere else and never go back to that place again. Maybe you could save yourself $500 and get a pair of spring compressors and do it yourself
  7. Sure have. Link is in my signature that goes to my thread. There are some pictures there. I didn't think there was a need for a step by step cause it is straight forward really. You just go into Jaycar or something like that, even eBay, and pick up some LED light strips, attach them in the footwell where you want and connect them to your dome light. DJKOR's Aurion - Post 35
  8. This is what Rowan was getting before. Sounds to me it's the intermediate shaft that's causing that noise. Probably the start of it. At least you have a heads up if it is.
  9. I'm pretty sure he didn't. I did take it a little easier though cause I wasn't 100% familiar on how the car reacts to what I threw at it.
  10. Sorry, only reopened this thread now. Stupid work making me forget things. The high beam bulb is a special bulb made by Toshiba (created by GE) referred to as HIR or High Intensity Reflective. Just a quick run down: In other words, the bulb type is not actually a HB3/9005 like the manual states, but it is a 9011 bulb. To make a HB3 bulb fit, as you noticed, some trimming has to be done to make it fit. I don't know why Toyota stated differently in the manual. I believe the only additional lighting in the facelift Aurion is the vanity lights for the two front mirrors in the sun shades. Edited below. Cheers mate. Edit: Damn, I only just saw that now. Grrr.   11. In general, if you get a remote of that design off eBay, you can use them with your Aurion after you get the dealer to code it in. I would try to get one from Australia though just to be on the safe side. I purchased mine from eBay around a year ago for $27 shipped, but now it seems that the sellers there have picked up on it and have put the prices up. They usually show up on there every now and again. For the price of that one listed above, you may as well buy it and see how it goes.
  12. If you want the genuine one that is the exact one you are looking for, then the dealer is your only proper option. You may find genuine ones show up on eBay every now and again, but this can be quite rare. Alternatively you can scout wreckers for a second hand one. So if you aren't willing to spend the money or wait, then you're next best option is to just get an aftermarket one that you like the appearance of and use that instead.

  14. Okay. So I took it around Nebo last night and my impression after all that was 'wow'. Stuck to the road much better than before. I was able to enter corners harder and faster than before and was getting less wheelspin as I put the power down to get out of them. As well, when you do give it a bit of a push to get the rear end out, it is very predictable and makes it easier to control. Money well spent in my opinion. Now I am really itching to go back to the track and see what it can do.

  17. Just a quick update on this. I took my car in for a wheel alignment at the trusty Fulcrum at Hillcrest. When I picked my car up, they said that I have a bit of play in my steering rack which is causing a knocking sound. He then said that they inspected it and found the steering rack mounts were pretty well worn which is causing it to have that play. I mentioned about the rack end which is what I thought was the problem and he said that I would most likely find that it's due to these mounts. I'm guessing when I tried to stop the noise as per my video before, I was only really just stopping the rack from moving within it's mounts. This appears to be a more cost efficient method of repair and much easier as well. I will definitely look further into this before spending money to change a rack end that may not the the real fault. Thanks to Fulcrum Hillcrest though for that advise.
  18. Cruise control on most other cars is just the same in which the throttle is the only thing that is controlled. It's main purpose is for, you guessed it.... cruising. Mainly for highways so your foot doesn't go dead on you. That's called a safety feature. It's so you don't accelerate again and create an accident. I'm guessing you are disappointed that it can't steer the car as well :P
  19. Well I got back from Hervey Bay last night at 11pm and then took a quick break and got stuck into it. From 12am to 6am (was working slow to make less noise) I managed to get my TRD springs and shocks fitted. Stupid me though forgot to take a before shot. I was going to use a Coke can on the ground for height reference, but completely forgot. Considering that I did do it late at night, I think you can cut me some slack. First I did the rears and after I took the rear off the stands, I immediately noticed that it was definitely lower than before. Then I got around to doing the fronts. The end result wasn't as obvious but I could definitely feel that it is lower (just from leaning into the engine bay). I took it into Fulcrum at midday to get it all re-aligned and I must say, I am quite satisfied. It's not a massive improvement, but it sure feels better. It feels like I am able to accelerate better while cornering and there is less squat in the rear when I accelerate hard. The most noticeable difference however is the ride comfort. I guess my last shocks were near the end of their life because with these ones, it rides so softly again. I didn't really take photos of it all cause it's as basic as it gets but here are a couple of side by side shots. Shock absorber.   23. Drove it to Hervey Bay for the second time within a week. Took the opportunity to get used to the feel of my new steering wheel. It feels so much more comfortable and the stitching in it helps to make for good grip.

  25. I know the guys at the parts department fairly well now, so they always sell stuff to me at list price. Because of this as well, they never hesitate whenever I enquire about TRD Aurion parts. So for me there were no issues with obtaining such parts. I can't tell you how much I got all the bits and pieces for, but I can tell you that the retail for all of them together would come to about $1675 including GST. Sure thing.
