    Little Rants

I will always have my rant about people like this. They were not overtaking, and the traffic well in front of them was moving quicker:
  5. You are never out of place at a TOCAU meet, regardless of what car you have or who you are. Unlike Boostcruising on the otherhand.
  6. LOL. Completely didn't realise that the email notifications contain post content as well. Considering our Brisbane meet is pretty much only guys, didn't want to put across the wrong message. Could have easily have been interpreted the wrong way which would be a little creepy.
  7. Oh God. I would seriously consider slitting my wrists if they did that. Imagine doing a mountain run in a CVT Aurion and it would sound something like this (just a little deeper):
  8. Spotted this thing on Caxton Street at 4:53pm today:
  9. Also waiting for all the bitching that is soon to come when they hear that it definitely is going to be FWD.
  10. *Waits for everyone to say how much they hope they will release it as a RWD or AWD* **Also waits to see the look of disappointment on their faces**
  11. Hmmm. Where to start. I'm not sure about you Southerners, but QLD meets are all kinds of awesome.
  12. Man I don't know. But I know how to find out: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=how+did+everyone+get+Oprah+Australia+tickets Mate, there are so many questions you have that can be answered by a much larger database than what we here are able to provide. There is a reason why Search Engines were created.
  13. Have you tried putting a new filter on lately? If so, how tight do you do it up and do you remember to put a thin film of engine oil on the gasket? If not, when you do so, firstly apply a thin coating of new engine oil to the gasket and make sure the mating surface on the engine block is clean. Then when you tighten it, from the moment the gasket appears to make even contact with the engine block, you just have to turn the oil filter another 2/3 to 3/4 of a turn tighter. The box the oil filter comes in would most likely specify this. Then see if it leaks again after all that. I know it may sound a bit basic, but it's not something I would rule out completely. Edit: I realised what Hiro has said below. I was basing my post on the assumption that it could be closer to the filter side of things due to the way the question was worded.
  14. Unfortunately as of this time, I don't think Toyota Australia have such a facility available to the general public.
  15. Welcome mate. Get any locust issues on the way back to Adelaide?

    JOKES !!!!

In ancient Greece (469 - 399 BC), Socrates was widely lauded for his wisdom. One day an acquaintance ran up to him excitedly and said, "Socrates, do you know what I just heard about Diogenes?" "Wait a moment," Socrates replied, "Before you tell me I'd like you to pass a little test. It's called the Triple Filter Test." 'Triple filter?" asked the acquaintance. "That's right," Socrates continued, "Before you talk to me about Diogenes let's take a moment to filter what you're going to say. The first filter is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?" "No," the man said, "Actually I just heard about it." "All right," said Socrates, "So you don't really know if it's true or not. Now let's try the second filter, the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about Diogenes something good?" "No, on the contrary..." "So," Socrates continued, "You want to tell me something about Diogenes that may be bad, even though you're not certain it's true?" The man shrugged, a little embarrassed. Socrates continued, "You may still pass the test though, because there is a third filter, the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about Diogenes going to be useful to me?" "No, not really." "Well," concluded Socrates, "If what you want to tell me is neither True nor Good nor even useful, why tell it to me or anyone at all?" The man was bewildered and ashamed. This is an example of why Socrates was a great philosopher and held in such high esteem. It also explains why Socrates never found out that Diogenes was shagging his wife. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As good as this bar is," said the Scotsman, "I still prefer the pubs back home. In Glasgow, there's a wee place called McTavish's. The landlord goes out of his way for the locals. When you buy four drinks, he'll buy the fifth drink." "Well, Angus," said the Englishman, "at my local in London, the Red Lion, the barman will buy you your third drink after you buy the first two." "Ahhh, dat's nothin'," said the Irishman, "back home in my favourite pub, the moment you set foot in the place, they'll buy you a drink, then another, all the drinks you like, actually. Then, when you've had enough drinks, they'll take you upstairs and see dat you gets laid, all on the house!" The Englishman and Scotsman were suspicious of the claims. The Irishman swore every word was true. "Did this actually happen to you?" "Not meself, personally, no," admitted the Irishman, "but it did happen to me sister quite a few times."
  19. That's interesting, because the RE001/Adrenalin was the replacement for the GIII which was a highly regarded all-weather tyre.... Probably just a combination of things such as road conditions and personal driving style. I was exaggerating a bit. There are times that I found it to be fairly good in the wet like if you hit a light puddle it would just slice through it, but then there were other times where you would hit a similar sized puddle and it would decide to aquaplane like you just drove on ice. They are alright tires I guess. I just personally think there are better options out there. I just remember them loosing traction more than maintaining it.
  20. My way of cleaning the throttle body (while on the car) is to hold the throttle body open (cable throttle makes it way easy) and then spraying the throttle body cleaner thoroughly over the inner surface of the throttle body. Then using a soft clean cloth, wipe down the inside of the throttle body and butterfly, spraying more TB cleaner as required. Once everything is all looking clean as far as you can see, connect your filter/pipework back up and go start your engine. You will probably have to open the throttle a little when starting and it may hesitate for a bit. Once it starts, just give it a rev or two then you can feel free to turn it off.
  21. Interesting. I found the RE001's to be about as grippy as a pair of roller blades on ice when in the wet. Well not that crappy, but I wouldn't say they had decent grip in the wet.
  22. Actually, I know how it is MEANT to work, but in practice, it doesn't quite do it all the time (but doesn't affect it's operation). Basically, when you completely close the console box lid, that little lever thing is mean to drop down ever so slightly. This then means that when you go to open it, that tab on the grey half-gear thing (easily seen in the second photo) can slide forward a bit more (this is when you push down on the lid) and disengage the locking mechanism. Then when the lid is opened, the lever thing springs up a little so when you close it, that tab hits on the other part of the lever, thus limiting the travel of the lid. This enables the locking mechanism to do it's job since the lid doesn't travel as far as it does when you go to open it. That made absolutely no sense in words, so you can try to figure out what I am trying to say if you really care.
  23. That screen is the touchscreen calibration screen. You need to tap the centre of the cross-hair as it moves from the centre to each corner of the screen. If it unfortunately does not respond or keeps running in the same loop again and again, you need to cut the power to the unit completely by either unplugging it or removing the fuses, and then wait a few minutes before connecting it up again.
