  1. For QR: 1) Have a look at the following link (clicky) and choose a date under 'Saturday Afternoon Sprints' or 'Wednesday Afternoon Sprints' that you would like to attend. 2) Click on the date you would like to go on (well anywhere on that line will do) and this will bring up the entry form. All Saturday and Wednesday sprints for this year are over, so keep an eye out for when next years dates and links get posted. 3) Fill out the form as detailed in it. 4) If you haven't already done so, go to the following page and print of an AASA License Application Form. Link. If you can picture yourself going to the track more than two times in the year, get yourself an annual license to save some money. 5) Preferably fax through your Entry form and license application earlier than the Thursday before the event to save money on the entry fee. Also, if you manage to get your form in nice and early, you may even get yourself a spot under-cover. 6) Do all the checks on your car before you head out to make sure it is nice and ready for the track.
  2. Lifiting off slightly when you need the gear to shift has always worked in auto mode which i think most of us naturally do :).. The thing is, yes it may work in getting the ECU to change up in gears, but I wouldn't be misled into thinking that you are actually improving the operation of the gearbox.
  3. Pretty much. And amazing how cheap as well if sourced directly from China. I have two 5 metre rolls of the stuff. Just because it's Chinese made, doesn't make it bad quality.
  4. When you get new wheels, you are meant to aim to get a tire that makes the overall wheel and tire diameter be as close to the factory wheels/tires as possible. So long as you adhere to that general rule, you will be fine to keep your previous wheels as a spare. You should try to only use it as such though and aim to get the (new) wheel back on ASAP, but it's not going to be a massive issue if you continue using the stock wheel for any reason. With a larger variation in overall diameter, you will notice that your car may handle a little differently (eg. pull towards one side more), and may respond a little differently when braking. If the variation isn't overly massive, it's not exactly what I would define as dangerous, but I wouldn't say it's exactly safe either. In a condition like this, I would definitely only use a stock wheel as a spare for the least amount of distance you require it for.
  5. That is all.
  6. Awww shiiiiiit. The sky is clear enough to call it a loop meet, but it's still drizzling.
  7. You mean like this? Excuse the colour imbalance, that was my old car and there was a lack of LED's available at the time and the crappy camera emphasises it more than it is: Hey Greg. If the service manual is to be believed, then the connections are as follows (obviously test with a meter first): On the 'E6' connector: Pin 7 - RCTY = Rear Right Pin 21 - PCTY = Front Passenger Side (though that is of he American service manual, so this may possibly be swapped with DCTY On the 'E7' connector: Pin 24 - DCTY = Front Drivers Side (Refer to note above) On the Body ECU itself, junction 'IO' (refer to attached image): Pin 7 - LCTY = Rear Left
  8. I'd beg to differ, but each to their own on that discussion. Edit: For the QLD'ers, f*** I miss going through the ICB with that car. Edit 2: Goddamn it. I ended up watching an and now I miss my Sportivo all over again.Edit 3: Really .
  9. Because it seems you have done your research first (thank you), I will give out some of my (now limited) advice. You mentioned here that: On the stock navigation unit wiring harness, the cable you are referring to would be this: You actually connect the centre conductor of the RCA to the red wire, and the shield of the RCA to the grey wire.
  10. Come to think about it now that you guys have reminded me, count me out for the 17th as well. On that day I will be going go-karting and getting tanked (afterwards obviously) on the company credit card.
  11. Sounds like a good idea. I can offer to be a designated driver for up to 4 people as well. I may as well start the list in that case: 1) Bush Mechanic 2) Steve 3) 4)
  12. I'm keen for any date and any location. Brekky Creek is fine by me.
  13. Since it is a new week, I'll chime in to say that I will be there this Thursday.
  14. It's amazing to see a good chunk of metal torn off like that. Something you think of as being quite solid.
  15. Sigh. 1) The gear shifter on the Aurion is not intended to be a substitute for a manual transmission. It's main purpose is to limit you from going higher than the selected gear for when the situation requires it (towing etc). Sure enough you can use it to shift manually, but realistically, that's not the intended purpose. 2) For those that think that blipping the throttle when changing gears on the Aurion (as discussed in the thread "How do you change gears?") actually improves performance, I've got a challenge for you. - Take your Aurion to the drags. - Do a couple of runs with your foot planted to the floor. - Then do a couple of runs with you doing your throttle blipping procedure. - Tell me which method gives you a better time.
  16. Thermofan switch eh? On my SV21 Camry that had the 3S-FE, the sensor connected to the green plug happened to be the coolant temperature sensor. If that's the case though, I don't know how that is tying into your intake issue. When faulty, you usually find that your temperature needle will stay on cold and your fuel consumption is going to go up. When it's not plugged in altogether, a Check Engine Light would be a typical expectation, and possibly the same as mentioned with the fuel consumption and temperature on cold.
  17. Far out that was epic Pete. I'm really looking forward to seeing more. You have met and exceeded my expectations.
  18. That's quite an interesting issue Steve. If I was working on it, I would try disconnecting either the shifter control or the steering wheel control to see if your issue is rectified. Gotta start somewhere I guess. At least that rules out whether it's a fault you can reverse, or if it's not going back to the way it was.
  19. If the original filter wasn't restrictive in the first place, about the only gain I can think of would be a longer service interval for the filter.
  20. A good site to learn some stuff: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/automatic-transmission.htm http://auto.howstuffworks.com/cvt.htm
  21. I'll bring a spare set of underpants for myself.
  22. I would like to extend a Birthday shoutout on behalf of the Queensland team to Big Pete.
  23. Interesting. Of all the times I took my TRD to the drags, I have not been able to stop the engine while it was rolling. This was at very low speeds as well like when in the staging lanes and you are rolling closer when the cars in front move. On my Sportivo, I used to just put it in drive and as I was approaching the stop, I would put the gear selector into neutral and flick the ignition to ACC. The TRD would only turn off when the car came to a complete stop.
  24. Well, I got my 5 hours sleep on the plane this morning so I should be good for a nice huge steak tonight. Will be good to have some Western food again. That Chinese stuff got a bit risky at times. Steve, I can give you a lift. But if you are game, Hogs Breath is a 2 minute walk from the station. parking is underneath afaik, big d should know more Shared undercover parking for the complex. There is a Coles and Sushi Train there, but on a Tuesday night, you should find it rather quiet. Tons of space regardless though.
