Oh the envy. Great stuff. Evan... basic graphing. Look what the bottom axis is.

Mate, I'm not sure you are getting the purpose of this 'chip'. When they say "up to 12hp gain", I emphasise the "up to" part of it. These 'chips' are made to make use of additional modifications such as intake, exhaust, etc. So in a situation where you may have your intake done, extractors, and exhaust, adding this chip will then give you up to that 12hp gain if it does live up to it's claims. With none of the supporting modifications, it may only give you a couple of hp increase... making is hp gain per dollar on par with a CAI. So when you think of it that way, it is really that much value? And don't try to use the Hilux in that review as a comparison. That is a turbo diesel which can get gains without additional extras. Seriously, you seem really really keen on getting more out of your Corolla, so if you think the chip is good value, stop trying to convince yourself otherwise and go and buy it. Then you can get a dyno and see what you have gained.

Once you remove the two clips, the trip unclips and pulls out. If you have a look at the service manuals (linked to in the FAQ's) the 'Instrument_Panel' manual has the following diagram on page 22:

Probably doesn't know what he is talking about. Probably just had his transmission ECU replaced.

The automatic gearboxes used on Toyota's... especially the Camry, are not intended to be driven as a manual. The purpose of the gear selector is to limit it to a particular gear. Driving an auto that is not designed as a semi-auto is not going to get you any better performance and will more than likely put more wear on your gearbox. If you want a manual, buy a manual.

FFS. Personally, ask a question that hurried again and you are not getting an answer at all. Look at when I posted it and you had only given me 6 hours since... and that was after midnight on a Sunday. /rant Personally, choose whichever map you want. You probably have to experiment with both to see which one suits you better. One may contain things that the other doesn't and vice-versa. You tell me if you think they are updated. If they aren't, then why would they release another revision? To find out what maps you are running, go to Menu -> Settings -> About -> Maps

^ That first photo made my pants feel a little funny. That is seriously hot. And I agree with the airbags side of things. At that height from the ground, the body may just be clearing, but the bits and pieces under the car may not be.

Well there you go guys. If you have iGO8 already and are wanting to update your maps to the latest (whether that means an update or not), get them while they are are still active. So for all you lazy bastards who can't be bothered doing a Google search like some of us: Sensis/Whereis maps (thanks Mick): iGO 8.3.x & Primo Australia Map Sensis R17 (12 Aug 2010) or if you prefer the NAVTEQ maps: iGO8.3.x, 8.4.x and 8.5.x NAVTEQ 2010Q2 Map! It is still downloading the NAVTEQ ones now (crappy Rapidshare) and I will edit this post with details on if it contains the Clem7 and Centenary Highway adjustments. Not useful for many, but it is a good indication of how updated the maps are. Edit: The NAVTEQ maps do contain the Clem 7 and the rebuilt Centenary Highway/Ipswich Motorway overpass. Definitely more updated.

some mention of XXXXgold... he was a well respected user on the ol streetcommodores forum, always providing handy QLD legal advice. Has ol'mate actually gone to Boost now? he is a mod on boost now. still helpful legally too. He has provided quite a large amount of assistance there on Boost. I'm surprised at how much time he has on his hands to do that. His sig does say though that he can't really help much anymore due to the time it takes him which is understandable, but he is still helping out.
-
I don't go on Boost much so I only saw this then. The PM's that the Mods got which were posted in this read for all to read made me laugh: The Skd55 'incident'

If they were definitely off an Astra, it would have been off one from quite a years back as they once had the same PCD as your Rolla. If your paint on them is coming off that easy, do not blast it with a high pressure washer then because it will come right off.

Shiit. that map was meant to be from aug 2010. Fucking iGO and its old ass maps. I would use tomtom if it wasnt such a cunt to crack. I found a copy of the third link there (the Rapidshare one) posted on Megaupload and got that as well. It was dated from March but is a larger file. Still no luck with the roads on that one either. So not much of an update IMO. Personally, I preferred the maps from NAVTEQ rather than Whereis/Sensis, so hopefully they will have an update soon.
-
Well the first link worked (the Megaupload one) which was just the map file. Put this on my GPS, and it worked and it recognises it fine. No Clem7 on it though and the end of the Centenary Highway down my end still has the roundabout in it.
-
All good Mick... I'm onto another site at the moment. I shall go for a test drive after, LOL. Finding the map updates are so much easier than it used to be. I guess the increase in these crappy head units has increased the people posting for this stuff.

Corolla gets a hard time in this review
DJKOR replied to rolla_guy's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
A review is a review guys. Some people like to take things a little personally. At the end of the day, a review is just how the reviewer sees it. There is no better review for yourself than a review done BY yourself. -
Thanks for that Mick. Saved me from doing a Google search Edit: Rapidshare is being a c*** as always. Back to the drawing board for me.

Always replace shocks in pairs (as in front pair or rear pair) and never individually. Personally, you can most likely save yourself some coin by getting some aftermarket OEM replacements like those offered by KYB etc.
-
Yeah... but the software used on that device was licensed and paid for in the purchase of that device. One hte other hand, the iGO8 software that is supplied with these Chinese GPS units are actually pirated copies. You download the iGO8 software files, then the additional maps, terrain, buildings, POI's etc, then compile it all together (place them into the appropriate folders), and copy it across to your SD card. I think there is a newer version than what is listed there. The thing is, I've noticed that every time a new map release comes out, they update the software files as well, so you usually need to download everything all over again appropriate to the version you are getting. That thread is a little on the outdated side of things.

IP Board distinguishes from usernames and display names. What you have done is changed your display name. You username will still remain the same regardless of what you change your display name to. The only way to change your username is through the Admin Control Panel. Now as far as I'm aware, only Super Moderators and Admins have access to that, so I can't help you out sorry.

If you want to update, you will have to do it the way which involves effort on your behalf. Open up Google and start looking. You may even end up getting the various parts from different sources. When I compiled the last update before links to Austech (http://www.austech.info) were published, it took me about 3 hours and about 5 different downloads to get the right updated files.

What did you do to your car today?
DJKOR replied to JustinW's topic in General Toyota & Other Car Discussions
Unfortunately, the rest of the car does not reflect this. While the radar is showing no rain, I'm considering giving it a wash and wax so at least it will clean easier when the rain clears. I also picked up a can of this Sonax NanoProtect wheel coating so I may apply that to see how well it works. When I eventually do my brakes and therefore take the wheels off, I'll coat the inside. It's was just too wet at the time to dry everything out to give it a proper coating. Damn timing with respect to having to get the rotation done and the wet weather we have. -
What did you do to your car today?
DJKOR replied to JustinW's topic in General Toyota & Other Car Discussions
Today I finally got around to doing my wheel/tire rotation. The fronts (Yoko S.Drive) are just about on the wear indicators after 30,000km. The rears though (Dunlop Sport Maxx) after 51,000km have about triple the distance till the wear indicators. So the plan is to get the Dunlops worn down till they are on the wear indicators and then change all 4 tires. Hopefully with the Yokos on the rear, by the time the Dunlops are on the indicators, the Yokos should be just ready for a change and no more. Also, since it's not everyday that I have the wheels off the car, I decided to give them a good (but not great) clean on the inside of the wheel. All I can say is that it's amazing how much cleaner the car looks just by having the inner face of the wheel shiny. The sad thing is that I know it is going to get dirty rather quick and removing the wheels isn't exactly a thing I want to do fortnightly/monthly. What a bummer. A clean wheel: Before cleaning: After cleaning: Also, I spent ages scrubbing at this one section of the wheel trying to remove some 'dirt' because from arms length, that's what it looked like. After just about giving up, I took a closer look and realised what it was. LOL: -
DID YOU NEED SOME F1 TOYOTA PARTS FOR YOUR CAR?
DJKOR replied to JJCRU23R's topic in General Toyota & Other Car Discussions
Can I get the rear wing and mount it on my bed head? Hehehe. If only I had the money, it would be something I probably would buy for my future dream garage. -
I wish... but unfortunately I am not made of money. I will try out the Federal 595EVO's since the cost is quite good for the 19's and it is said to be a fair performing tire. If they don't live to my expectations, I will just have to live it out... if they do, then I've found a happy medium. That said, with the US dollar the way it is, if I could get a good price on shipping, the RE-11's (at least it is a step up I guess) are US$280 each at Tire Rack (link) Joke or not, I do agree with you. They aren't that bold in their style, but here comes the next issue with me finding wheels. I was really into the sporty styling, but the more and more I looked at my TRD with it's bright silver wheels, I started to realise that my silver TRD is mean to retain a level of 'class' in it's looks. I can't just put on a set of dark sporty 5-spokes because it will subtract from the original look, but I can't put on a set of elegant wheels because it subtracts from the already subtle sporty looks of the car. It's as if the wheels that are currently on it are just right in their design. This is why I don't really want to change my wheels... unless I can find a set that is just a balanced as the current set, but as I already said... I'm not made of money. Those wheels I linked to earlier would have been an impulse thing. Now that I think of it, it's probably not what I'd be looking for.

Spotted Ash (arc)... or another white Aurion Sportivo with 18 inch Kappa's at 2:13pm parked on Stamford Road Indooroopilly next to the substation there. Even without seeing your Rolla, the Aurion is still miles ahead in it's looks
