    Yokohama C.drive2 is a quiet, reasonably priced and well constructed tyre.

    I have used them on every car I have owned and not once have I had a single issue, many others do the same.

    Possibly a dirty idle air control valve(IACV). There are plenty of videos on YouTube on how to clean them.

    Potentially, but you will need to systematically check each component in the vacuum assist circuit to confirm. Throwing parts at it will only cost you money.

    Was the water over the bonnet?

    Normal unleaded will be fine, but you should probably use a lead replacement additive as well due to era that it was built.

    Is it leaking down from above? The bellhousing is not very well sealed, so it could be leaking all the way through, although unlikely.

    You could have them strengthened/plated/custom made, but any time you upgrade something, another weak link will appear.
