Hi to all Stivo peddlers out there.

Custom Exhaust Specialists and RBT Motorsport have been doing some research and design on an exhaust system for a Stivo for about 2 months. We have had success and plenty of it. A system from the cat back(standard cat is great and has ample flow) in either stainless or mild steel with a large resonator in the middle and a custom made rear muffler. The system is flanged so you can bolt the original system back on if the need be from the cat back or just the rear muffler section. Back to back dyno runs showed and increase of 9kw at the wheels. Quite a noticable difference all over the rev range. Noise levels are legal as tested by CES and there's no droneing, cackling or the infamous 4cyl twin cam noise at the top end. All in all a great system that I think most of you would love to see and hear. If you want to know more then come to the following

SATURDAY 20TH NOVEMBER 8AM.

CUSTOM EXHAUST SPECIALISTS

UNIT 2 78 NESTOR DRIVE

MEADOWBROOK QLD. 4131

Trevor has been nice enough to open his workshop for the morning to show everyone this system as well as a cold air pickup for use with the standard airbox for those concerned with warranty issues.(pickup completion subject to extreme workload).

For those who are interested he has a dyno in which for the measly sum of $25 we can set your pride and joy up and see what power it produces. There is only enough time for 10 cars to be done so email SILVABULLIT with your details as first in best dressed applies.

RBT Detailing & Motorsport have been kind enough to donate some trophies for a mini show/n/shine for those wishing to display their cars in a show sense.

Please let everyone know about this day as the more who attend and make it successful the more chance we have of being able to host an event like this in the future. If someone out there would like to help me organise this that would be greatly appreciated as I don't know too many of you at the moment. There is the possibility that those of you from the northside and southside of town can meet at two points and cruise down to CES in a convoy?

If you require any other info drop me a line(silvabullit)

or you can call RBT on 0412 559 592(Brennden)

Thanks for your support

Cheers

Sounds GOOD  :) , let us know if you install one.

I have this system fitted to my stivo with a k&n panel filter and have now got 109.3kw at the wheels. Good enough to smoke a S14 200 update model, new mini cooper s and give a nicely modified 02 rex a good run for his money! :D

I will be there.

Dont suppose a 228rwkw V8 ute is welcome on the dyno that day? :D

Will be there to check it all out guys, looking forward to spending some money on this car before I buy it

Any luck getting this done in Victoria? If it was in NSW, I wouldn't mind driving down to get the cat installed. Can even make a club cruise out of it. :P

9kw is a pretty good improvement. Hmmm, CES exhaust + CAI + Unichip, woahh, the Stivo will hit 120+kw easy.

Brenden,

thanks for the chat yesterday. I'm looking forward to the QLD scene picking up and getting some more events organised.

QLD Guys we 'HAVE' to make this event a success....please join in

Can you provide an image of the Dyno sheet. Very loathe to spend $1000.00 without seeing one. I would like to see it just so as I am happy with the low end as I am not wishing to gain 9kw up top if I lose down low as most of my daily drive is down there.

Certainly not scared to spend money on my car (as any one from the forum who knows me can certainly attest to) I just need to ensure to myself it is money well spent.

If you cannot post it here PM me and I will send an email address you can send it to or if you can give me a link to somewhere alse you could post it. If you could do this mate it would be much appreciated.

Remember this is a custom system.... I have a mate with a skyline that spent almost $2K on a custom stainless exhaust (turbo back, so included a high flow cat though), but I think $1000 isn't as bad as it sounds (you don't have to go stainless and save yourself a little, but lifetime is generally shorter, you get what you pay for!!!!) but like Ilivfor6 said, a dyno showing before and after data would go a long way to convince more people, I'd also like to see what the change, if any more/less, in torque the is down around 3-4K RPM, as that is also where most of my daily driving is done.

I feel I should just make it clear too that I have nothing to do with the development (or anything else for that matter) of this system.

The credit must go to SILVABULLIT (guinea pig) and obviously to CES. Brendan details my car so I know him outside of this forum, thats about it.

Im just a punter like the rest of us who wants to see this thing perform before I part with my $$$$. *** knows its easier to spend that earn eh?

It seems that I've caused a bit of a stir among some of you who obviously have been posting on this forum for a long time. You probably want to know who I am, what I do and what I know etc etc. I run my own business RBT DETAILING AND MOTORSPORT. I am regarded as one of the best car detailers in Brisbane and have helped many people's rides win trophies at shows -- Jamboree, Auto Salon and various car club concourses. I have worked in the automotive industry for about 13 -14 years so I consider my knowledge to be substantial on many car related topics. My father is a mechanic of nearly 40 years experience and has been modifying cars before some or all of us for that matter were born. My unlce also builds race cars, engines and fabricates any part that he needs for a particular job. There's a substantial wealth of knowledge to draw on.

Apart from detailing I source and supply aftermarket parts for customers from the many friends and acquaintances I have in the industry. I can organise anything from a set of king springs to a full interior retrim from a show quality motor trimmer.

In saying all that, please don't perceive me to be a big noting big mouth who's jumped on the forum and told you that you all know nothing. Far from the truth. I have already picked a quite a bit of creditable info from certain moderators whom are guys just like myself - know their craft as far as a STIVO is concerned. The exhaust system is something I've put a lot of work into not to mention the effort of CES and without their assistance this wouldn't be possible.

I'm not trying to get everyone to buy one. I've had many enquiries on many aspects of this system from moderators and members and I'd like to say thanks for even giving me chance to show you guy's what I can do to help everyone make their Stivo that little bit better or faster or whatever.

I will endeavour to become more computer literate and not post in the wrong place(sorry MR MOD) and hopefully this week I will get some dyno sheets posted on the forum for your persual. So in closing can everyone stop getting heated with each other over certain "comments" about the system and instead dwell on the positives of this not the negatives.

Thanks for hearing me out.

Cheers Silvabullit

PS. Thanks to those who came out and cruised last night - Northy, Hames, Danthuyer and MAP81. Had a great time chatting to you all. Look forward to the next time. :D

This has got of control I have deleted every negative comment. This is about a Dyno Day nothing else. This forum is suposed to be constructive not negative. There is no elite group any where. Do not backstab anyone else. And enjoy your car. If you want to say negative things leave this forum. End of story.

I was looking into that Bill, trying to see what our American friends are using in their matrix xrs. There are quite a few companies over there giving TRD and Toms a run for their money. Some say DC headers are good some dont, stay tuned for more information on TPR racing headers for the 2zz. Im looking into this to see what is available.

Hey Guys

CES will make headers for sportivo and probably cheaper than TRD ones. None as yet have been made but it's only a matter of before someone wants some. From looking at TRD ones they have basically the same configuration as the factory item but with slightly larger pipes. CES can make headers from a picture you supply or to your own custom requirements. You could make them with longer primary pipes to increase torque or short pipes as the factory ones are with the 4-2-1 style pipe. They look like 4 into 1 but the secondary pipe or collector has a divider down the middle. Two cylinders pair into one side and two into the other thus forming the 4-2-1 style. CES say this is becoming common on late model Jap cars as it requires less room for pipes/collectors etc. If you didn't know that then you do now! Any other queries about headers contact CES on 07 3200 2333 and ask to speak to Trevor.

Cheers SILVABULLIT.

Hey Brendon look at http://www.brashboy.net/ they have probably the best headers at this stage. That will give you some clues if you wanted probably the best headers for the 2zzge mind you they are very expensive (you wanted pictures). Also look at www.newcelica.org under the parts catalogue. Rgds

I got a flyer on my windscreen today for this...... How they knew there was a Sportivo around the back from where I work.... Bugs the hell out of me. It was on a R.B.T Detailing & Motorsport letterhead.

Here is a copy of the original comparison between the stock exhaust and the CES custom pipe. Runs were done in 4th.

Please note this dyno is noted to read 2kw or so lower that a dyno dynamics dyno (Same car ran 107kw in shootout mode).

Can post Dyno Dynamics sheet when it is scanned.

Cheers

Thanks JC for posting this for me. AS you can see the CES system is a marked improvement from the word go, with increased power in the lower rev range as well as the marked improvement when lift kicks in. All in all, makes the car a lot nicer to drive with more responsiveness at light throttle as well as the car seems to cruise more effortlessly at higher speed. Just to let you know that production will begin on this system within the next 2 weeks depending on the workload at CES. Any other queries contact myself or call CES direct on 07 3200 2333.

Cheers SILVABULLIT.

thx -jc- and bullet for the dyno

Brenden - any chance of the cnj dyno sheet???? When can we go for another drive??

Guys - I checkout this exhaust on the weekend (its damn hard to get a good look on the ground when the car is lowered :P ) and I must say that it is spotless, sexy, schmick and stunning......oh and it sound damn HOT also.

Big thx to the guys that came down on Staurday night also.

did u get your car dynoed at the same place MAP81 got his tuned  :P

Where was map81's dyno done? CES have their own dyno, albeit a little old but it works well. Another little project i'm working on at the moment required a dyno run so I went to C&J motorsport who have a dyno dynamics dyno and are probably the most reputable dyno shop in QLD. Go past there any day to see a huge variety of race cars etc as well as they are a unichip dealer.(they have done a stivo upgrade approx 6-8kw increase. they couldn't remember exactly how much) Anyhow it proved that the dyno at CES reads exactly 2kw less than theirs. So it just shows that although the CES dyno is getting old its still pretty close to being on the money. A dyno day run at most other shops costs about $40 -$50 so the $25 we are being charged is pretty cheap. Come along on the 20th Nov and put your car on the dyno. Doesn't matter if it's stock - it will be a good comparison between car and modifications and hopefully post some graphs and results for everyone to view. Thanks for the wrap Danthuyer! :D
