New corolla owner from Perth

Recommended Posts

Hi guys :)

I'm new to this whole forum so just wanted to say hi to everyone first of all. im from perth and work at worley parsons and go to curtin uni final year commerce at the same time.

Anyway, I recently bought a new 2zr corolla conquest silver...well try September last year.

I was just wondering if there are any mods (besides the obvious cat back and cai) available that could add a teeny weeny bit of power into the little beast?

probably a bit early but thought i'd ask you guys after coming across the website a few days ago.

i also got a straight thro 2.25in cat back with magnaflow exhaust installed for $380. is that a good price and are they any good? i've got a few mates who said its quite reasonable. the piping took a very similar (if not the exact) line of the stock system so yeah. also lowered it with king springs for $350.

i'm now thinking about gettin a CAI installed custom fitted with k&n pod filter installed at cyphers (to those in perth who know which shop im talking about), but they quoted me $770 and i thought it was rather expensive...

i'm still rather new to this whole modding car scene, so please do give some good suggestions if you can! i'll see if i can get around to uploading a picture of my car so far to those who are interested.

thanks and hope to talk to you guys soon! :D

regards

jase

hey welcome to the forum ^^

Cypher in O'Connor?

Cypher Industries is good and make sure u speak to Zack coz I got refered there from my friend as well..

they charge premium price for a very good job so u can rest assure...

similar to XSpeed as well, they charge really expensive as well but takes things really slowly...

but in the end, its always top quality so far...

I wanna dyno tune my car with Cypher but they only tune every 2nd saturday and I just missed it...

also, have hks and blitz produced any worthy snap ons for the rolla yet? or if they're going to??!?!

and have u guys heard anything bad about a magnaflow system? *shrugs* im so clueless XD

anyway yea guys i'd definitely be keen to come for a cruise some time, providing other work/social committments don't get in the way heheheh

hopefully in a few months people will start selling mods for this car on ebay :)

Hey gday gday

Welcome to the TOCA,Hope u have a great time here, plenty of info you can take on here.

Cyphers $770.00 for a CAI is not too expensive its ROBBERY,I used to be in spare parts for eleven years with Coventrys & a CAI doesnt cost that much even including installation,Cyphers good but please be weary of 'the perfomance cowboy syndrome' some of the quotes I'm hearing are really silly.

Magna flow systems are very reputable for quality it really comes down to you want you want out of your cars exhaust system eg the burble, mid to high range tones & power..

well good luck, keep in touch with the locals, hope to see u at cruise some day.

Thanks bozurolla, I thought it was rather expensive too.

Would anyone happen to know where I can get a CAI custom fitted to my car and do a reasonably good job? I don’t mind paying a little bit extra if it means they can guarantee doing a good job, if you know what I mean.

What would be a reasonable price to get a CAI installed?

Also, I'm looking to getting new Mag's once the tyres on these 16"s are worn out. Does anybody know any good deals around Perth? :D

Cheers,

Jase

hey buddy... Welcome!

in regards to the CAI bozurolla pretty much summed it up.. personally i wouldnt go and get quotes for anything for our cars from cyfer ind or x speed.. not only will they rip you off but they are also ****ers and very rude.. (thats my experience with them anyways lol)

if you want one custom made maybe try a local exhaust shop and buy your own filter or you could DIY using flexable pipe into airbox..

anyways look forward to meeting you.. i am yet to see what the engine bay of the new rollas look like..

With regards of the DYI flexable pipe into airbox, I've noticed that the pipe going to the airbox basically makes a loop which ends up facing the airbox (which is close to the engine)... Dont know why Toyota made that, BUT I manage to take that off and lead the pipe heading towards the bumper away from the engine :D I'll try and post up some pics.

Hi MissLevin,

I got it done by one of my co-worker's good friend who worked at Brian Wallis Autotainment in Vic Park. He only does exhaust to general customers, but because it was a friend of a friend he was willing to do my springs as well.

Maybe you can go ask them if they still do it?

Thanks,

Jase
