hi guys, im going get my first car. i still wavering between non turbo supra, fto and dc5 normal edition. which one is better . because of fto and supra already get 10yeas old, thus i concern about the maintain fees. is there anyone have supra? does it have any problem? i appreciate for any hlep

i say get the dc5 no questions asked.

the decision is up to you though. youre gona own the car, youre gona drive it. our opinions dont matter.

my mate sold his FTO, the insurance is like 2k for full cover and hard to find parts. supra is nice, you get a fair bit of people that want to drag but a dc5 is real nice, not sure about the on going costs on that though.

if money was no problems i would get a vtec twin turbo :)

normal DC5??? 118kw donk???

I would go for the non turbo supra, but then again I'm biased as I have always wanted a Supra (preferably a TT).

well one is absolute sex on wheels... and the other two aren't toyotas...

The Supra is a great car and is amazingly reliable. It has the same internals as the TT but lower compression and a lot less stress (even the TT's can be seriously modified before internal mods are required).

The DC5 is a great car also, but a different beast. Then again it's newer.

Reliability wise I wouldn't be concerned about getting a Supra at all. I wouldn't bother with the FTO, but that's because I've never really been keen on them. From all reports I've heard they have been reliable.

non turbo supra, cheaper to buy initially, at least the non turbo supra has cred

you don't want every sportivo in town raining down your parade if you drive the honda. the only decent hondas come with red letters on them. even then the new one is a disgrace.

blah blah there is a tt supra too

but the original post states normal edition dc5

ppl only think the na supra is slow as the tt is such an awesome car.

and we all know those k20 type r's don't produce anywhere near 113.999834798724 on the dyno do they?

My AE112 Corolla with a tired motor will beat my mates Non Turbo Supra over and over and over again... They may have a good power figure but they also have the weight to back it up...

the differeance is

2JZ-GE: (aka non turbo)

3lt inline six

168kw

0-100: 6.8 sec

1/4: 14.8 sec

compresion ratio: 10/1

SZR model has optional lsd all other models don't..

2JZ-GTE:

3lt inline six twin turbo

206kw

0-100: 5.5 sec

1/4: 13.5 sec

compresion ratio: 8/1

they are both the same car but yet very different...

the N/A supra has high compresion so it can not be turbo charged without big $$$$$ spent..

the gear box is not as strong nor is the pistons, rod, chafts, ect ect..

as for brakes they are the same for the 93 and 94 models, but in 95 the turbos got an up grade...

the N/A brakes a ample for every day driving.. Good pads and fluid would help for light track work..

suspension the turbo version has blistien shocks, option for SZR i think...

Hmmm, you may be able to answer my question as you seem to know a lot of the details :)

My mate has a Supra, was an N/A and now has an Aristo 2JZ, R154 box, etc, etc, etc... Asked me today about putting in some of the 95 model turbo front calipers, discs, brake lines, etc...

Are these parts interchangeable or??? Like will the holes for the calipers line up on the hub assy, discs fit with the old backing plates, any other things I should be looking at???

Thanks in advance :)
