[VIC] - Dyno Day - Melbourne July 09 Monthly Meet

Recommended Posts

FYI

got the 110.4

TRD CAI, Ported Headers, Varex

Varex open = 110.4

Varex closed = 103.5

Varex closed had better torque and gave a "smoother" line on the dyno...but couldnt breather when it got into lift hence low peak power.

time to talk to Xforce and see if they have got any further on a module to plug in to it can open at certain rev...i.e open for lift.

From what I have seen they open too slow to be triggered at a certain rpm. You would need it to start opening 1000rpm before when you want it to open by, and that's going to have it starting to open and then abruptly closing all the time.

Anyhow, I don't see why you can't run a hardwire to it from a tacho trigger, instead of using the remote to open it.

An idea that is good on paper, but the motor on those Varex are only small. With the heat they already get from the exhaust itself, they windings in them are going to burn out with constant use.

i agree with you boys in relation to the varex...does open too slow for that application and also the mechanical parts of it may wear out.....

was good to be able to see the difference it made open closed....basically what everyone on here would have guessed..

better closed down low....better open up top

  • 1 month later...

Hey guys,

Just looked at my dyno sheet again, and (I know people don't really look at torque values) but I was just wondering if anyone's torque atw is higher than what was stated by the manufacturer at the flywheel?

Peter.
