I know my car is nothing special yet, but here's the latest...

I love my mods how I love my women.... Imported and Cheap :spiteful:

$4.50 for these white 2x 25smd led parkers from eBay and I was surprised that they actually fit, as I didn't think there would be enough room for them, they are 38mm long, the stock parker is just a small wedge bulb

Auto-Led-Lighting-T10-25smd.jpg

But they fit, that's all that matters

They do look white, but in photo's, a little blueish

HID's soon I think, looks kinda unbalanced

And these were a pain to put in, Daryl has a thread of it somewhere explaining the process when he did the same on his old SX6... But I managed to take some shortcuts, I undid 1 of the clips that holds the inner guard on (The one toward the front), and bent it back and reached in my hand to undo and take out the stock parkers... I cut and scratched up my arm quite a bit because I was too lazy to remove the whole inner guard, but I had the job done in under 10 minutes

:toast:

Don't want to scare ya, but give the lights a few months/half a year or so. Your mileage may vary (pun intended), but you will find that one side will eventually start to flicker and then eventually die.

I went through 2 sets of those on my Sportivo back when I had it. I currently have a blown parker at the moment as well, but this time it is a different LED. At first I thought it may have been caused by the heat from the headlight, but then when I noticed that the door lights started to die as well (over a longer period though for obvious reasons), I realised something else was at play.

If you have LED door lights, leave your door open and pay close attention to them. You will find that they flicker every now and again. It's not actually the lights though that are causing the flickering. I'm guessing it's due to the supply of power... but I still haven't figured out how because one would think the power comes straight from the battery.

I've found that for the parkers, the longest lasting ones are the LED replacements that are built from multiple 3mm LED's or so instead of the SMD ones. The 3mm LED's seem to be a bit more stable when used in the Aurion.

Luckily I have bought a backup pair, I know they have an issue of dying quick, I had white's in the bmw and they lasted maybe 6 months, 1 of them just started to go really dull and then it just went... You get what you pay for I guess...

But I haven't noticed the door ones play up yet, I'll have a look at them next time I'm out, they've only been in maybe a week, but cheers for the heads up

Once that's done, lower, intake, exhaust, tint, rims and then i'll end up in court for displaying pornography in public B)

Thought you woulda been, but also thought you might have had someone else driving the car. It was a nice looking blue aurion, just on stock wheels, and couldn't remember if you had changed ya shoes

Someone else driving my toy? *shudders at the thought*

Still rolling on stocks, sports grille, stock height, no spoiler, no tint, no P plates - If you come across that combination, it's probably me, I'm usually around the Sunbury, Keilor, Taylors Lakes areas quite a bit

Yeh I'm the same. Only other person who has driven me car has been me old man, purely because I was working and it needed to get a service.

Ah righto, well if I do see you it'd have to be near the train line as I go by on a Freight Train tongue.gif

Might see me at the Diggers Rest train crossing then most likely, the amount of times I've had to wait for that damn freight train *shakes fist*

Do want!

But can you get HIDs for your parker lights?

a HID (High Intensity Discharge) is a different type of globe which needs to run through a balast unit, which if I remember correctly, changes the amperage or voltage or something to do with electricity to match the bulbs, like an amp. The parkers are just your standard wedge bulb and as far as I know, a HID wedge kit does not exist, it would be a pointless addition, when you can get a LED replacement for under $5, the HID ballasts alone can cost upwards of $50...

You missed the most obvious point. You're headlights would melt or catch fire if you tried to use a HID lamp (even a smaller 21W version) in your parkers.

Finally got around to changing my licence plate lights, white smd LED's

I don't have a before pic because I just was a little lazy in taking one, but you can compare the colour temperature to the dome light which you can see through the back window...

Up next... Eyelids :yahoo:

Reece, just jump on eBay, search for "white wedge smd leds" and you'll pull about 100+ results, then sort by "price+postage lowest to highest" then sort through them till you see a pair you like, these are the 10smd led lights, make sure you check the size of your stock bulb to see if the new one is similar in size...

But these do give off perfect lighting. Not bright but not dark either, they don't last very long so id recommend buying a second set... For the price you pay, a second set couldnt hurt

Sweet thanks bro. I'm addicted to LEDs ATM haha. Slowly doing an led conversion for everything. I like using products people have used so I know they ain't dodgy haha

Well, if you take the same track as I did and buy the cheapo eBay smd ones... Then I can promise you that they'll last under a year, for me it isn't a big issue, I don't need the high quality ones, because in the end, it's not something I want to spend extra money on if I don't have too, the cheapo ones do the job fine, they just don't last as long as the high quality ones... Things I would be looking into spending a good amount of money on... Coilovers, CAI, possibly ZR6 leather seats as well (But these are looking very pricey)

yep thats the route im taking! Currently have a 48 smd leds in my dome light. its bright as day

as for the leather seats mate, try do some hunting at the wreckers!

Christ! 48smd leds... You could light up a small country with that

Yeah I may have to do that, if I only I had an extra few grand lying around I would have bought the ZR6, I miss having a sunroof...
