Looks abit dodgy to me... I mean for $12.00 you can't lose much money, but I'd be concerned about what it actually does or doesn't do with it's claims....

This ad really looks sus buddha... but it does say provide a money back scheme :P can't go wrong there :D ... unless your wagon breaks down of course :(

Don't get them!! IT'S A WASTE OF YOUR MONEY AS WELL YOUR TIME!! they dont work! its a $2 resistor which you can get them from any hardware stores. :P

also, once you put them on, it will drains the PETROL heaps more than usual.

ok, the basis for this thing working is that the air temp sensor is pretty much a variable resistor. So what these people have done is just gone and figured out what the resistance is for a decently cold air temp and shoved the resistor into the inputs of the measuring device.

So yes it will work, kind of.

The problem is that your car's air/fuel ratio will be fixed and thats just not good. Not to mention the fact that this is like bringing your engine back to the days of the good old carby technology!

I wouldn't bother with it.

You'd probably be better off resetting your ECU every 200 kms

Resistors are more like 5 cents, 2 if you buy them in bulk. but the key is what resistance do they put in?

lol....I used to work for a chip tuning company...i know for a fact that this resistor mod will not work. Used to work for old mechanical injection Mercs..eg old C180's but it won't work on ur late model Toyota...

We had several attempts at tuning the new style toyota's with a piggyback system (will not mention name)..we actually tried a few..but was never successful....From memory, modding the fuel was not a major drama...however modding fuel mixtures doesn't do much in terms of performance....we tried to tap the ignition timing...however the new 1ZZ engines from memory had individual Coils per cylinder...thus making harder to control....and also not cost effective...

In regards to the ECU...there is no FLASH chip to desolder and reprogram....The main program in the Toyota ECU, and like all other JAP ECU's are embeded with in the ECU's Processor....Also....most of these processors are proprietry....therefore almost impossible to read....

one of the guys said resetting the ECU every 200 k's is good? why is that? Apparently to reset your ECU is simply disconnect your battery to the car and it's re set.. leave it off for a while. Is there a way to re set it properly? i mean.. when it auto programs. Some poeple say to flog your car and others say let your car idle while engine is running as ECU re programs. im a bit lost hay.. help me out guys :)

The toyota ECU's can be remapped if you are smart enough. A guy in japan has done it successfully on many different toyota ecu's now (early and late), it involves desoldering the PROM, dissasembling the code, and writing your own custom software to read/write/modify the whole lot.

As for the intake air temp sensor resistor mod, all this does is make the ECU use different maps it already has stored. Some people do the mod on the THA line, some do it on the THW line depending on what correction map you want to use.

The ignition on the 1ZZ can be successfully changed quite easily with an emanage.

1ZZ ECU's and 2ZZ ECU's do not have a PROM which can be simply desoldered and read. The actual Engine management Program is embedded into the main Processor of the ECU.

On early toyota's in order to modify the ecu internally you needed to desolder the Processor, add a ROM Board. Now this rom board would only work if you had a base program. It is also similar to Mazda ECU's as well. The link you pasted actually has the guy doing this on an early style DENSO ECU.

In regards to putting a resistor mod onto the Air Temp Sensor....you are correct in saying it will make the ECU read maps....however this will not have any effect on the ignition timing on the car....if anything it will adjust air/fuel ratios.

the other link I was referring to (which I can't seem to find at the moment) involved modding an AE111 20V 4age ECU, which is the newer type similar to the ZZ motors. I'll find the link when I have more time to search.

Any one know what performance chips give the greatest increase for the 2000-2005 rollas?
