My trd engine has decided to die. Was making a slight rattle on start up sometimes the noise became more consistent. And started doing in while driving I check under bonnet and didn't sound to bad. Decided to drive home 5 km. noise got magainly worse and started running really rough. Got home check under bonnet again. Oil everywhere front of the engine belt side. Can not see where it is coming from.

Are the 2gr na engines the same I could just put one in and swap over all the trd stuff?

I have lost faith in Toyota service locally.

Had you changed the VVTI Oil pipe?

How many Ks had it done?

Who serviced it last?

If your engine is actually ****** claiming under insurance might be an option.

Car has 120km oils and services have been up to date. Can the engine be calmed under insurance. What is cel?

Car has been to Toyota many time for minor warranty issues but no vvti oil line

Engine stalls runs very rough, and engine light is on.

I should consider changing that oil hose sometime soon eh. I'm up to 137,000km and because I was doing all the services on my car before the time that Toyota released that revised hose, I never actually had it changed over.

I guess u should! My car sounds like it has timing issues. Are the 2 gr engines the same ill just get one and swap it over

Damn, another one bites the dust because of that hose. IMO Toyota should pay it, yes no? After all there is a recall for that part because it will one day burst. I've had mine changed luckily.

FYI

The hose on the TRD is different as it follows a different path to the N/A 2GR-FE.

check engine light = CEL

DJKOR - so he cant just get another 2GR and just swap the hoses and pipes exactly how they are over currently?

take a stab in the dark :P

I don't think replacing that hose is going to fix the problem with the engine maybe the oil issue correct me if I am wrong

get another normal 2gr from any other aurion, swap all your TRD ancillaries onto it.

I am thinking of just buying an na motor and swaping the trd stuff over. I will need to get one of those hoses.

They can, but check your policy or give your insurance company a holla.

Hey Adam i feel pain for you. With my first engine there was a vacume hose that kept popping of the blower, that made it run **** and stall. we had to put a clamp on it to stop it comming off.

Luke do you have a pick of where this oil line goes?

You can see where that oil line is if you look at the guide that I created. You will find the link in the FAQ.... however I will be nice this time:

2GR-FE VVT-i Oil Line Replacement <- Hint: Look at the left side of the engine when you are facing it from the front.

And just so you know, the TRD one does not look like the one in the above photo. It's more like this (excuse my crappy drawing) because it goes via a different path:

I had that problem also... I think with mine being number 15 it has all the issues bloody Toyota will not buy another one the level of support has been terrible

Somehow I doubt it. There was a recall, if the customer chooses not to get the fix done, its hardly Toyota's fault if/when it ******s up. That said, if the customer has always had it serviced at the dealership, they should surely have just gone ahead and done it during a service.

My car was in Toyota a month before this issue happened told me the noise was ths sc. And said not to worry about it. ****ers have no idea. The noise was not the sc and I told them that. Told me that I was not a mechanic and he was. There was not one mention that there was a recall I'm guessing they never checked. Toyota in Cardiff nsw should not have a service department full of monkeys. Now cost me to repair as it is out of warranty

My bad Daryl, i did whatch the vid after i made the post. My TRD has only just been serviced and still has the original hose, they did tell me my belt had cracks n needs replacing. im only guessing but by the look of the hose it is meant to be straight in line with the tubes, mine has an s bend in it and i can see stress being forced on the hose. might be able to get the belt in easier/cheaper whist replacing the hose on recall??
