Timing Chain Model Toyota's

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I currently own a 2008 Camry Altise and a great car it is too.

I'm thinking of getting another toyota (2nd VEH), maybe a RAV4?

My question is this, I know my model Toyota has a timing chain, what years/models of RAV4/toytas etc also come with timing chains.

Not a fan of timing belts and the excessive cost in servicing them.

Thanks in advance. ^_^

is this common across the brand (toyota)?, I'm also looking at Prado too.

Thanking you in advance.

the prado diesel uses a timing belt... most toyota diesels do, the petrol one uses a chain as far as i know.

What do you mean by excessive servicing costs?

Timing belts will usually add AT LEAST 1 hour on to service time plus the belt is usually $90.00ish so straight up theres and extra $220.00 on top of a basic service price but as is perviousply mentioned in most moddles post 2000 they are only done at 150,000kms service if they are fitted at all.

My point was that the service cost is hardly excessive across the life of a vehicle. The OP seems to be of the opinion that timing chains are without problems, which is incorrect...
