CES - The Final Word

Recommended Posts

I still reckon I know what the best CES System is.... (Hey Shoa & Northy :P)

ps. im gonna say that QLD have the best drivers through the twisties :P :P :P

Unless they're in a Honda

turn in is very much sharper without the rear seat and boot trim and spare wheel

More room to crap your pants in hey Shoa :P.... I must say, I never seen anyone throw a 2ZZ around corners like you did at Darlington....

My undies are still soaking in Napisan.....

Nice to see some good 1/4 figures. :)

http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...opic=6106&st=75

When it comes to posting the results on this test, can we lock the thread so we have the findings/results only and not spoilt by unconstructive comments.

Dont worry mate im planning on pinning it to the top of the forum ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Any word on the dyno figures?

...........off the topic, 98RON petrol in my area just hit $1.55lt, s-h-1-t.

...........just placed a deposit on a Hybrid, and no its not a Toyota.

...........but I am still keeping the stivo. :D

Hey guys i dont post very often but have been a member since early 04 and have been sitting back watching and reading and i just have to have my say on CES parts.

I currently have the stainless catback fitted to my car and it was the best decision i ever made... i dyno'd the car before and then after and there is an undenyable gain... STOCK AINT BETTER... so if your a particularly opinionated person not to name names... then stop talking sh*t about it we have all seen the gains to made from CES components. So if you think stock is better well good luck to you... but i assure you that you are severly wrong. I am so sick n tired the arguments... this is meant to be a forum for us to share info n generally talk about our cars.. helping each other... it isn't a contest on who can talk more **** about other states parts... so just drop it, CES is quality gear with proven gains.

SO how about we just let it go and you just hack it...

p.s. It aint a good idea to pay out somebody for having a silver car when you own one yourself haha

I'm just curious...would you be able to post up the before and after dyno readouts for everybody to see?

I'm too used to seeing before and after power figures higher than 20kw etc. And actually feeling it too. The sportivo is a nice nippy car that's good for a run around as well. If I go crazy I'll go crazy with a turbocharged car next time, RWD.

agreed Lucio

man this argument never fails to trip me out...

a CES exhaust is a piece of pipe (stainless steel mind you) bent to the the ZZE chassis along with a high flow muffler (also stainless), no matter how brilliant this system is, it can only do so much for the N/A 2zz. Just about anything after market WILL be better than stock (assuming it wasnt made by a monkey) so i really don't think there is much of an argument regarding exhaust systems with these cars while N/A, with exception to perhaps pipe diameter and header setout. Even the differences here are negligable i bet. Personally, i would say in the end it comes down to what you want to spend and what level of "polish" you want on your mods.

And the 1/4...stripping is for sissies, to get real cred, you need to go street trim.

To get real cred you take one 2JZ motor, add two T4 turbos, then.....................................lol

so a 8 inch pipe from cat back will be better than stock?? we could also put 3 hotdogs in to quite it down and then match it with a 15inch cannon since that would be the best noise choice???????

Just get a real cars guys, LOL just jk :D

you know what, thats true to an extent...

i love the 2zz motor, and i think the sportivo is a very good performing car, but at the end of the day, you're driving a corolla... and whiles its great because its got a nice mix of performance, and fuel economy, and family-car-ness, its not a high performance car, and its not really designed for the 1/4, or the track. its designed to be driven around the streets, and there's the opportunity built in for some spirited driving...

if people wanna spend the money on something they have been shown is better, why not go for it? if you're not keen on spending so much on your corolla, don't... but leave those guys alone who have, they just have different tastes and aspirations for their cars than you...

if CES made a 1zz exhaust system that was nice and cheap, and it proved good gains, id buy it in a second... but im just one of those people who can't justify so much money on my car in that area...

Don't know about CES fitter but certainly has some sort of resemblance of Sportivo Rice after a hard night on the turps :lol::lol: (just needs slightly more red cheeks :P )

Lmao just taking the **** silva hahaha, nice to see people still have a sense of humour in here.

On a serious note i'll keep this thread going a tad and maybe morph it a bit. A mate who own's a yellow S15 Jap Spec Silvia had a CES exhaust system (+headers I think?) fitted to it. I think that my be a better example that CES 'do' know what they're doing as he'd had some insane increase like 40kw or something! I think the main problem is people really don't want to spend big bucks on minimal gains on a car that is a nippy little street car. Eg: $5000 poured into my mates S15 for engine mods turned it into an instant 12 second car! And now he's cracking 11's with a computer upgrade. $5000 into our cars gets about a 30kw increase adding it up. Want power? Go turbo or S/C really (or convert and get big a55 cubes behind you heh).

I've said it before and I'll say it again though, 'everyone is different'

Silva...you and I contrast against each other as an example because we see different things in our cars. You wanted more power out of the motor, whereas I'm already happy with the power and want to trick up the handling. I think that is the beauty of modding cars, as there is always an uneven cascaded pattern of tastes that people can observe. Being unique.

Yes I wanted more power but in the last week or so have just finished the handling side of things also with a little more stopping power. ;) A few more cosmetic things to go and that will be all I will do to this car as I have 2 other projects which are in dire need of my attention which will definately turn heads in a big way B)

I really don't know why this topic is constantly pursued.

I realise now why I no longer have the desire to check the forums daily as this is all that seems to go on.

The information sharing has slowed to a dribble.

As mentioned above and also in other people posts:

~ A high 14 second pass doesn't really excite me and spending in excess of 10k for the sake of a second is just a pure waste of money.

~ A Corolla is not a track car. Its fun for a fang and upsets a hell of a lot of poeple at the lights but thats about the extent of it.

~ If your a true racer, sink your teeth into something with big cubes and a top loader feeding power out back through an LSD. LOADS more fun and huge smile factor. As Rob said, even something turbocharged will give you a much larger bang for your buck!

~ Uniqueness is a good point. If you really want to spend 20k modding your Corolla i order to beat an R33 that can be had for 15k in total, then go for it. Your loss. (Or perhaps your just loaded!)

And finally....

~ You probably wont ever see my Corolla on the track or the strip. But you will see it cruising the streets, turning heads and possibly even parading random hotties LOL!

Over and out!
