that would actually be really good... as you can jump in and out of the chatroom and talk to everyone at once... and there would be no need for whoring... and if you actually have a question or comment or whatever, you can start up a thread and everyone is able to see if forever...

good idea george... i like it...

dylan, you're completely right about cleaning things up a bit and keeping things condensed... and as jason said, we'll keep it in the right places from now on...

I wouldn't have a problem with a chat program somewhere, and I think it has been mentioned before, I mean I wouldn't use it but others will. But wouldn't the chat need to be modoratored? Plus it might cause a drain on the site's server(s)?

again, i know steve and the mods are looking at it, but i have a suggestion for the future ;)

i agree that the chat program / shoutbox is an awesome idea... the chat in it would be deleted every hour or so...

just make it that all works will allow it... dont put irc which can be blocked or anything like that

Anyway things ahve calmed down! So can we all just chill a bit!

i think it is a bit rude to hijack someone's thread and leave it with useless idle chatter.

if someone asked about say intakes or something, then 2 ppl come along and ask wat's for dinner, how's dinner, who had wat and that and the other. that's annoying. or ask another question that should be a whole new thread on it's own.

all i'm saying is perhaps be a bit more considerate and respectful of someone's threads. it's a bit like interrupting a conversation, imo.

club lounge has been created. Post counts will not work in the club lounge either!

I dont know about disabling the post count. I would think people would be whoring even more in other threads now.

I posted this in a whoring thread so I dont think many other ppl will see this ..

so im gonna post it here ... why ... coz I believe in it ... and coz I CAN ...

ill give you some back ground ... phil asked about why the post counting was stopped in the whoring threads ..

and there was some debate about that in there ...

and i just have to let everyone know and read this ...

_______________________________________________________________________

Quote from a whoring thread today by me

"thats right mish ...

althought there was another point in my msg ...

without being able to freely communicate on here the club wouldnt be where it is today .

I personally dont think post count played a part in that ... but others obviously do ..

what steve has done here is tried to keep everyone happy ... a whoring section to keep the whorers happy .. and no post count here to keep the uptight and online ego's happy ... and thats fine by me ! BUT !

its a sad day for this club ... when ppl arent happy with whorers post counts ... and obviously they are .. otherwise post counts wouldnt have stopped here ...

phil is also right in that increasing post counts promotes more whoring and chatting on here .... and if its done in the right place ..is it so bad ???? is it affecting others ??

id suggest that post counts and whoring is the least of problems for this club/forum ...

id say the BIGGEST problem is with the number of members who are happy to whinge and complain about whorers stuffing up "their" club/forum ... and dont have a silver icon under their name ..

to all those out there who fall in that category ... "put your money where your mouth is" ..

Want to support the club?? ... want to keep it a great place?? ... want your say in things you dont feel is right ??? ... Want to see this club grow?? .. what the opportunity to learn more about your car ?? want to meet ppl who share the same interest in cars ?? want to talk to those ppl about other things than cars ...

Answered yes to any of these questions ..??? well you should join silver membership ..

Answered No to all of them ?? well dont join silvers .. its all good ...... but shut the F U c..K up ... coz you deserve to question and whinge about anything on this forum/club ...

how can ppl have the guts to complain about something that is free .... ???

I don't understand that comment one bit as almost all of the main post whores are silver members anyway.

It's got nothing to do with over inflated post counts and everything to do with unnecessary comments in other peoples threads

the 2 main examples are:

1. off topic discussion in for sale threads

2. chit chat in cruise threads... say you are going to be there, if not, either don't post or say briefly why... do not spend 10 pages trying to push a person to a meet they simply cannot get to.

There are others but these are the most common.

It has nothing to do with inflated post counts, I see nothing wring with that, as long as the whoring is kept to specific topics. What it does have to do with the forum management and tidyness. When people are trying to follow a topic that have an interest in it is frustrating when others but in adding no value to the discusson. As Shao pointed out, it is exactly the same as butting in on a personal converstion for no important reason and is quite rude.

It is something that has actually died down since the issue was raised and things have improved a lot, just in the last few weeks. The month before that things were getting out of hand though.

I'm just disappointed that I didn't raise this earlier as I may have had more people vote for me as mod :P

EDIT: sorry Jason I missread the context of the silver members bit... I understand now and fully agree.

but we also have the Silver Members whore area remember where we have payed for the right to earn post count from whore topics :P ;)

if you read my post closely ....

it says that whoring is no prob if done in the RIGHT place .. i put it in bold .. you and shao are completely correct .. coz it was everywhere ...

what im saying is that .....

post whoring is such a small problem ..... when you compare it to ppl who care so much about the club ..

they care enough to complain .. but dont care enought to support the club ...

the eagerness to comment and complain amazes me ....

if they care so much about the club FREAKIN support it ...

id say thats a much bigger issue than post whoring ...

so .. just to clarify .... im not having a dig at the whole post whoring issue .. i completely agree with the mods and steves actions ... its a good solution they have come up with ..

Im having a dig at the ppl who love to complain and whige about something they never paid for in the first place ...

is that obvious and clear enough now ???

that's cool Jason, I agree with you too.

What I would like to happen though, as outlined in the opening post of this is for the Moderators to have a system when if they see a useless/off topic post in a thread... delete it... simple as that.

keeps things smooth and keeps the forum nice and organised.

i only saw your edit after I posted ... all good ...

just my network at work is giving me dramas ...

and yes .... it it does pop up in a normal thread the post should just be deleted ... works like that in alot of other forums ... and makes this neat n tidy

I don't want to sound too petty, but can we have some punctuation in here please?

Just my input on this new lounge section.

I think Steve is handling this all wrong. To stop the whoring in the wrong section you need to PM the perpetrator. Making this new section and disabling counts will not stop the problem. It just alienates people.

The problem is people posting garbage in proper threads. So go directly to the source. To stop that you can either privately PM the person to keep on topic if that doesn’t work then edit there post to publicly tell them to stop.

When I first came on this forum I didn’t even look at the old General Chat section. Since posting it up I have gotten to know loads more people then sticking to the Corolla section. I went to that section to start putting my post count up. YAY.

If this new section is gonna stay re-enable the post count why cut it off? Seriously why? What’s it gonna do? Nothing because people still and do post whatever in that section and start socialising with each other. Now its not gonna be as enticing when the counts are cut. The whoring is being done in other treads where it makes it difficult to get information. This is a shotgun approach to something that can be handled much differently.

Mods need to moderate proper sections and keep the topics on topic. Disabling counts in sections is not gonna stop the problem.

My 2c.

Ok I cant resist I have to post about this,

Prime example of this...

I go to the Sydney monthly meet section. (No offence to the people posting this stuff)

But i have to filter through sh!t that has nothing to do with the meet.

Read this page. http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...=6948&st=25

Half of the posts are crazy about nothing to do with the meet. When i go to this section and there is a new post i want it to be about the meet. I don’t mind if someone posts there not coming or stuff like that. That’s cool because it direct Information about it.

I am in total agreement with Steve’s move with the lounge section.

Having fun and posting and chatting with friends is great. It helps with relationships with the club and so forth. But i think the post count should be related to the club and your contribution as a Toyota forum. Not a count on how many times you asked your mate what he's doing on the weekend.

Anyway if you are here to increase your post count then your here for the wrong reasons. IMO anyway.

Cheers

Bill

common guys .. its not just the meets thread ..

and we are all guilty of posting posts that arent related ...

its even happening today ... and not by the typical post whores ...

phil is right in the fact that it wont completely stop this problem ... its an on going thing ...

and yes the seprated section is good .. and imo post count or no post count dosent matter ..

... YES some ppl go over board and thats a problem .. ... and yes ... everyone here has posted unrelated stuff before ..

so time to look in the mirror before critising ... (this last sentence is not aimed at anyone .. more just a general statement)

as I said its still happening as of today ..

and yes .. that page that bill pointed out is over board ... completely understand the fustration

i think this no one will ever win this agruement full stop..........hehehe

we all have our own opinions on the subject too.

but jason is right...............a majority of us all have posted in wrong sections before............it part of being a newbie to the club. it will happen everyday and not always by us too. no one is perfect and we have all made mistakes in the past. the only thing left to do has been done by steve by creating the new lounge.

the new club lounge is here to stay regardless of who likes it or not. we will all have to get used to it.

its a good thing everyone is voicing their opinions too. it'll help build a better community in the future for the club.

but for the ppl contantly posting irrelavant stuff in decent threads i think they should get a warning of some sort by us. cause we dont want important threads turning into heaps of pages of crap.

now we have more mods on board it'll be a much neater forum u'll all see when we finish cleaning it up..........:)

we only just got our titles on tuesday and have a lot of things to sort through still. we will do our best to make this an enjoyable and imformative forum experience by all................:D

love from mish :D

That is what I mean. :)

The whoring is going on in other specific threads. So what is Steve gonna do do another shotgun approach and disable counts on the Cruise Meets and Events? Where will it stop? The whole forum is going to be count free.

Unnessesary posting needs to be handed by the moderators. They should have a pro-active approach to getting off topic. PM the perp, if continues delete there text and publicly tell them to stop.

However they cannot go overboard otherwise the site is gonna become a natzi over-moderated board. :)

or do what I suggested and just delete the off topic post all together... It doesn't need to be there... why keep it there, it's just taking up space.
