You should have just bought a Supra TT then :P

How much money are you seriously thinking of throwing at the Camry?

I think I already told you at the last meet, that there is a supercharger already in the making for the 2AZ-FE. If I ever stumble across the article again, I'll post it here for you.

you can! but you have to spend plenty of $$$ since the is a FWD and the supra RWD.

just replace the engine with the US V6 Camry engine (3.5L Dual VVT-i), or the Aurion V6.

It was announced in 2005 that this was in development as the same engine is used in the US only Scion tC.

I applaud Toyota for finally making the right decision regarding the engine/transmission pairing unlike the Gen5/5.5, but it still can't mask its inherent weight problem.

For your sake, I hope that the development and testing will be finished sometime this year, or change cars - Aurion perhaps??

Guest JDM y0 !

good luck with it. congracts for the origonality.

what capacity is the new camry 6 ? i guess a supercharger kit would work well and be easier but im lazy and poor so that is what i would choose lol. rwd to fwd of the 2j would be hard but it would be really cool.

All the camrys are 2.4L dual vvti inline 4.

Get it supercharged and since there is so much room in the engine bay it would allow you to fabricate an intercooler for it. Hmmm....30K on the engine....you'll also need a beefed up driveline which I would expect to cost you a cool 10K....gonna need the suspension setup to cope with that torque steer. Outlay about 50K and you should be on your way.

Can an inline engine be dual VVT-i?

Of course it can, the dual is referring to BOTH the intake and exhaust timing being variable, rather than just the intake. The first of these was the BEAMS 3SGE, which is of course an inline four, pretty sure the 2ZZ has it too (it's got Lift as well, so its called VVTi-L)

no and no,

go the supercharger mate

or enjoy the car until the warranty runs out and u can actually afford to stuff around with the engine

This reminds me of the project I did with my mate, except it was back to front. 1978 2 door escort with a 4.4L rover V8 in it. Wider wheel base + flares etc etc etc. We wanted to hill climb in it lol. the only advice I can give is to make sure that the expenditure slows over time. If it doesn't then just stop like we did lol. He's now working on his ford LTD, 387 Cleveland V8 w. a GT44 Garret. Same motor.

Keep the same motor. Supercharge it! There is also power - weight opposed to raw power itself. I think we all know what happens to a 2zz celica or corolla when it's supercharged. I could not believe how much the characteristics were changed on it.
