What does everyone use to clean / treat the leather bits on the seats.

I currently use the stuff I bought for my lounge and it seems fine. But I was in Supercheap yesterday and saw some Armourall Leather wipes which are supposed to clean and treat the leather and give stain protection.

I wouldn't like to use anything which would make the seat slippery as it's hard enough to stay put on corners as it is.

They look like the things you use to wipe baby's bums same packaging etc (probably the same with a different chemical additive. I think the stuff used on the baby's would be stronger - for those that have done the nappy change thing).

Hey Mate,

With my current ride (Holden VY SS) I use Meguiars Gold class leather wipes, exactly the same idea as the ones your talking about, makes them slippery for a day or so, but keeps the leather nice and moist, also discourages creases.

I have heard there is better/more comprehensive treatments out there, maybe talk to SILVABULLIT, he looks after all my detailing stuff and is bound to know what the G-O is.

Cheers

Just my 10c worth..................

I bought Moran leather and conditioner, it's a 2 part system, and Moran make $20,000 couches, so it's really good, and it works a treat, just do your seats around twice a year (mabye once a year for your rear if it doesn't get much use/action ;) , doesn't leave it at all slippery and is very easy to apply.

It's around $35, but I have done my couches and car seats all twice, and Iv'e still got 2/3rds of it left, so it lasts for ages. I found mine at Safeway of all places, in Morabbin.

Mother's make an easy to use leather cleaner/conditioner. it contains citrus oils to keep leather supple as well as cleaning any dirt/stains etc from seats. It leaves the seat with no sheen or gloss, no greasy residue just nice clean leather. IT's in a red bottle with a pump style nozzle on it. Any other q's on car maintainence - polishing etc drop me line and i'll point you in the right direction.

Hi Bill

Yes it is a brand. Mother's is a rival brand to Meguiars in the states. I do use most of the Meguiars products for detailing but have found the Mother's product for leather easier to use and less time consuming. Because in my line of work as a detailer time is money! Autobarn or Supercheap stock it. Any other queries let me know and Ill try to help.

I use mothers products for all of my interior (dash, plastics and leather). Stoopidhead, Shao and Northy can all confirm that it's a spotless interior B)

I got the tip from another mate who's a car detailer. All I can say is you will never regret it ;)

silvabullit do you use autoglym?

Hey kcorro

I don't use autoglym as it isn't cost effective for me to use day to day on other peoples cars. It's a great product and does perform well but is costly. I use meguairs products for my business dealings and also use Farecla polishes and cutters for some show/concourse jobs as well. Again, Farecla is a german brand used by elite panel shops and vintage car restoration experts but is a bit on the expensive side, so it's used sparingly!

I use the meguairs leather treatment, however it's really annoying that the thick liquid gets stuck in the 'small holes' in our seats.

Any suggestions I might try Mothers when the current bottle of meguairs run out. ;)
